[Bug 1511735] Re: libnl: fail to bind() netlink sockets

2016-02-02 Thread Mathew Hodson
** Description changed:

  [Triage Notes]

  The proposed fix for this bug in libnl3 caused a regression in trusty-
- proposed, tracked in bug 1511735. The regression is caused by a latent
+ proposed, tracked in bug 1539634. The regression is caused by a latent
  bug in Network Manager. We expect to fix this by landing a fix for the
  bug in Network Manager in trusty-updates at the same time as this fix.

  [Impact]

   * Applications in Trusty using libnl-3-200 which frequently open and
     close netlink sockets can easily fail when attempting to bind the
     local socket. The problem happens when libnl choose a port id
     already used by another application and subsequently libnl fails
     instead of trying another port id.

     The original bug was discovered when attempting to start a virtual
     machine under libvirt, which is a user of this library.

   * Backporting fixes from upstream release fixes a real bug in the
     current version of the library in Trusty. The alternative is for all
     applications to manually manage their local port allocation, or as
     upstream has accepted allowing libnl to attempt to try for other
     local ports.

   * All patches applied are already accepted upstream and newer Ubuntu
     releases are not affected.

  [Test Case]

   * On a Trusty 14.04 system
     1. sudo apt-get install libnl-3-200 libnl-3-dev libnl-3-dev \

[Bug 1473903] Re: parted will generate two devices when adding one partition on mpath device

2016-02-02 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello bugproxy, or anyone else affected,

Accepted parted into trusty-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/parted/2.3-19ubuntu1.14.04.2 in a
few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification .  Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: parted (Ubuntu Trusty)
   Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

[Bug 1541152] [NEW] segmentation fault when calling session.get() method

2016-02-02 Thread pseudonomous
Public bug reported:

I was hoping to use this python module to get retrieve a single OID from
a networked copy machine.

So I fired up ipython and did:

import netsnmp
session = netsnmp.Session(DestHost='my-copy-machine', SecName='supersecret',
SecLevel='authPriv', AuthProto='SHA', AuthPass='supersecret', PrivProto='AES',
PrivPass='supersecret')
# this produces quite a bit of output, I'll try and include it later.
vars = netsnmp.Varbind('1.3.6.1.2.1.43.10.2.1.4.1.1')
session.get(vars)
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I've tried this on a VM running 32 bit ubuntu and a laptop running 64
bit ubuntu. (both running 14.04) same results.

Even if I'm misusing the API (which is possible, I've never used the
netsnmp python bindings before) I really don't think this should produce
a segfault.

[Bug 1540965] [NEW] Support Joyent lx-brand environment in smartos datasource

2016-02-02 Thread Robert C Jennings
Public bug reported:

The Joyent Metadata Protocol Specification (Version 2)[1] allows for
serial or socket communication. The existing Joyent datasource uses the
serial port provided in KVM instances, however LX-brand zones have a
socket instead @ /native/.zonecontrol/metadata.sock.

Detecting we are in a Joyent LX-brand zone is possible by looking at
'/bin/uname -v' which will report "BrandZ virtual linux" or checking for the
existence of a /native mount where '/native/usr/bin/uname -s' reports
SunOS.

** Affects: cloud-init (Ubuntu)

[Bug 1539513] Re: networkmanager segfaults with 3.2.21-1ubuntu1

2016-02-02 Thread GOLDERWEB
As mentioned in updated description this should only affect users who
have activated trusty-proposed.

Non-techs normaly won't have it active. Otherwise it can be simply
deactivated by unchecking the related box on "Software & Updates"
settings. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed?action=AttachFile=get=Software_Sources.png.
There remove the hook before Pre-released updates (trusty-proposed).

This should only be active if you know what you are doing and never on
productive systems. See documentation on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed.

[Bug 1511735] Re: libnl: fail to bind() netlink sockets

2016-02-02 Thread Ryan Harper
I've retagged this as verification-needed since we've had one regression
(NetworkManager, a bug there) and we'd like to request other users of
libnl to test out the version included in proposed so we can ensure
we're flushing out other applications that may be exposed due to the
behavior changed in this update.

[Bug 1454725] Re: openvpn no longer called with "--script-security 2"

2016-02-02 Thread Martin Pitt
Uploaded this. It would be great if you could test 2.3.10-1ubuntu2 and
confirm that this works now, as I don't use OpenVPN in that mode.
