[Bug 1544157] [NEW] lxc exec not working in xenial

2016-02-10 Thread kevin gunn
Public bug reported:

My host is on the very latest Xenial as of yesterday Feb9,2016

My work flow has been...
$ newgrp lxd
$ lxc images:ubuntu/xenial/amd64 xen
$ lxc start xen
$ lxc exec xen -- /bin/bash

at the moment, the image creation works, i can list my images - and it says
they are running
however, upon exec i'm not logged onto the shell - no output, even if i pass
--verbose=true

[Bug 1530913] Re: [SRU] liberty point releases

2016-02-10 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello James, or anyone else affected,

Accepted horizon into wily-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/horizon/2:8.0.1-0ubuntu1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

** Changed in: horizon (Ubuntu Wily)
Status: In Progress => Fix Committed

[Bug 1211110] Re: network manager openvpn dns push data not updating system DNS addresses

2016-02-10 Thread Zephyr
DaveHenson,
It doesn't solve the bug, but I think you can solve the problem of entering
your usr/pwd on each connect in terminal by adding your usr/pwd to a simple
text file (e.g., file.txt) that is literally nothing but your credentials:

(line 1) usr
(line 2) pwd

located in the same dir. where your .conf or .ovpn file is located. Be
sure also to change this credential file's permissions to read/wrt for
root only (chmod 600).

Then just change the .conf file itself to include the line
`auth-user-pass file.txt`

Hope this helps.

[Bug 1544258] [NEW] cannot refresh cli unless all endpoints are available

2016-02-10 Thread Scott Moser
Public bug reported:

I use the maas cli, and occasionally it starts wrting a WARNING to stdout:
**
*** WARNING! The API on the server differs from the description that
*** is cached locally. This may result in failed API calls. Refresh
*** the local API description with `maas refresh`.
**

its fairly annoying that that goes to stdout (it should go to stderr).

I have 6 different maas enpoints that i've logged into. They're on different
networks, and I'm not always attached to all of them.
If I want to 'refresh' the one that gave me that warning i have to
a.) be connected to *all* of them at the same time
b.) remove any i can't get to (maas logout) and then refresh (maas refresh) and
then add the others back.

[Bug 1541736] Re: Sync bacula 7.0.5+dfsg-4 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-02-10 Thread Adam Conrad
There's no explanation for the request to move to universe, it builds
fine in main (as can be seen from the build records) and, furthermore,
archive admins don't generally mess with other people's seeds, we react
when they change.

If the server team's decided they are no longer supporting bacula, they
should change their seed to reflect that, and then our reports will show
that it's pending demotion.

[Bug 1542438] Re: Python LXC api needs to be much better at error reporting

2016-02-10 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks, if it turns out there is more that lxc could do please do reply
here or open a github issue.

Doing more in the C api woudl be tough, as we'd presumably need to
allocate memory for the error msg which the caller would need to free.

Returning more in the python API could be doable if it could control the
lxc.logfile and present the output after a failure, but since the caller
may want to set those himself it's not so simple.

Not sure what to do with the status of this bug. If we re-title it
general failure logging improvements then it definately could be
Confirmed. Otherwise it may be Invalid, not sure. Either way, marking
Wishlist for now.

[Bug 1527374] Re: CVE-2015-8709

2016-02-10 Thread Steve Beattie
** Description changed:

- A kernel bug in user namespaces allows root in a container to ptrace
- host-root-owned tasks during a window of opportunity during lxc-attach /
- 'lxc exec', before they drop privilege by doing setuid to the container
- root uid.
+ ** DISPUTED ** kernel/ptrace.c in the Linux kernel through 4.4.1
+ mishandles uid and gid mappings, which allows local users to gain
+ privileges by establishing a user namespace, waiting for a root process
+ to enter that namespace with an unsafe uid or gid, and then using the
+ ptrace system call. NOTE: the vendor states "there is no kernel bug
+ here."

[Bug 1544216] [NEW] libiscsi support is disabled

2016-02-10 Thread Clint Byrum
Public bug reported:

https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libiscsi/+bug/1271653 has been
filed and is under review by the security team. Hopefully libiscsi will
be promoted to main before feature freeze of 16.04.

Meanwhile, we should be optimistic and prepare a build of qemu with
libiscsi support turned on and test it, potentially morphing this into a
feature freeze exception request if the MIR makes it a bit tight to get
the upload in.

Having libiscsi support in 16.04 will allow users to run OpenStack Nova
with stock qemu 16.04 in containers on _any_ host OS in an unprivileged
container.

[Bug 1398999] Re: Block migrate with attached volumes copies volumes to themselves

Reviewed: https://review.openstack.org/227278

https://git.openstack.org/cgit/openstack/nova/commit/?id=23fd0389f0e23e7969644079f4b1ad8504cbb8cb
Submitter: Jenkins
Branch:master

commit 23fd0389f0e23e7969644079f4b1ad8504cbb8cb
Author: Pawel Koniszewski
Date: Wed Feb 10 13:09:44 2016 +0100

Allow block live migration of an instance with attached volumes

Since libvirt 1.2.17 it is possible to select which block devices
should be migrated to destination host. Block devices that are not
provided will not be migrated. It means that it is possible to
exclude volumes from block migration and therefore prevent volumes
from being copied to themselves.

This patch implements new check of libvirt version. If version is
higher or equal to 1.2.17 it is possible to block live migrate vm
with attached volumes.

Steps to reproduce:

1) install squid3 (wily)
2) systemd is able to start/stop squid3
3) break the config (add a syntax error that prevents squid3 from starting)
4) neither manual nor systemd startup of squid3 work (expected)
5) fix the config

[Bug 1543430] Re: kpartx 0.5.0-7ubuntu11 fails to remove loop mapping on kpartx -d

2016-02-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package multipath-tools - 0.5.0-7ubuntu14

---
multipath-tools (0.5.0-7ubuntu14) xenial; urgency=medium

  * debian/patches/kpartx_more_loopback_fixes.patch: fix loopback mounted
files some more: since we stat() the loopback device node, we can't rely
on S_ISREG() tests to handle this case, and should look at the device
itself instead. (LP: #1543430)
  * debian/tests/kpartx-file-loopback: check for left-over loop devices after
deleting a map.

[Bug 1528710] Re: overly agressive URLField validation causes failures

2016-02-10 Thread LaMont Jones
Without creating yet-another-login that I will generally never use, how
should I go about creating a ticket upstream? Generally, if the bug is
to be forwarded upstream, that is done by the package maintainer...

See https://www.debian.org/Bugs/Reporting

I guess I'll go file the bug with Debian and let the Debian maintainer
forward it to the django project.

[Bug 1536882] Re: upload golang1.6 package for trusty

+ golang1.6 package that juju and other consumers can build depend upon.

There is an expectation that new versions of juju will be made available
in trusty-updates. trusty was released with version 1.2 of Go, which is
almost indescribably ancient in Go terms. The Go team maintains at most
two versions of Go, so 1.4 and 1.5 at the time of writing but this will
be 1.5 and 1.6 in a few weeks, which means that trusty will soon be 3
  versions behind a supported version.

In particular, authors of third-party packages that juju depends upon
are mostly no longer supporting go 1.2. Specific examples of packages
  this affects:

  * lxd client code requires Go 1.3+ (currently not built on trusty)
- the new Azure provider requires Go 1.3+ (needed for centos and windows

to worry about bugs and different behaviours in gccgo (such as the

+ A wrinkle is that Go 1.5+ require Go 1.4 to bootstrap, which is not
available in trusty. Also there is no version of the 1.4 gc compiler for
arm64 or ppc64le, which means that the only option is to build with
gccgo 5. While it presumably would be possible to create temporary gccgo
5 packages for trusty that could be used to build the package, this is
- an almighty lot of work compared to building the package once in wily or
- xenial, binary copying this to trusty and then rebuilding it with the
- copied package there.
+ an almighty lot of work compared to building the package once in xenial,

- I have built packages for this here
+ I have built packages for Go 1.5 here
http://people.canonical.com/~mwh/go15trusty/ -- the plan would be to
upload 1.5.3-0ubuntu1~bootstrap to xenial in a devirted all arch PPA,
binary copy the result to trusty, upload 1.5.3-0ubuntu1 to trusty in the
ppa and then binary copy this to the archive.

I have done these steps in a ppa:
  https://launchpad.net/~mwhudson/+archive/ubuntu/go15-trusty/+packages
but unfortunately made some stupid mistakes which means the version
- numbers are not quite what I'd want, so the packages will need to be
- built again if this process is approved.
+ numbers are not quite what I'd want.

There is some more thinking about this on

[Bug 1541736] Re: Sync bacula 7.0.5+dfsg-4 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Ack, +1 on sync. Ack, +1 on demotion to universe. Bacula continues to
be available and up to date in Ubuntu. It's just provided in Universe,
rather than Main. Thanks. Dustin

[Bug 1544385] [NEW] Deploy of Virtual Machine fail using MAAS

2016-02-10 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

---Problem Description---
Similar to problem described in https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1523779.
The original problem states its happening on /dev/sda. On my setup it is
happening on /dev/vda because I am running on a vm guest.

---uname output---
Linux bootstrap 4.2.0-25-generic #30~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Mon Jan 18 16:25:16 UTC
2016 ppc64le ppc64le ppc64le GNU/Linux

Machine Type = S822L - Tuleta

---Steps to Reproduce---
Need to do this on Ubuntu 14.04.2 or higher. Configured it with KVM.
Download git repo :
git clone https://github.com/avmgithub/joid4power.git
Then follow instructions to install maas VM from the README.md Once the
environment is configured. You can proceed to recreate the problem.
You can go to the maas gui and do a deploy on the bootstrap
VM node.
The deployment will fail. You can login to the bootstrap VM and look at the
cloud-init logs. Part of the logs look like :
Setting up swapspace version 1, size = 2097088 KiB
no label, UUID=a87ff72a-f839-4ad7-a767-33357c7488ef
Replacing config file /etc/default/grub with new version

Installation failed with exception: Unexpected error while running command.
Command: ['curtin', 'curthooks']
Exit code: 3

Userspace tool common name: juju, maas

By the way I already tried the patches from the trunk that suppose to have
fixed the original bug described in the link I cut and pasted. It still fails
for me. I am thinking the fix is incomplete for the original problem

Hi, I looked at the bug and I now see that they are putting fixes in
maas which is very similar to what I've done in my local maas
installation. Please mirror so I can keep track of it.

[Bug 1543334] Re: upgrade to pkg-php-tools 1.32

Is this package missing a versioned dependency on php-pear (bug
#1543324)? Should we upload and trust that it will be fixed once php-
pear is available?
