[Bug 1555843] Re: php7.0: re-add binary packages with universe dependencies

2016-03-11 Thread Steve Langasek
This bug was fixed in the package php-defaults - 35
Sponsored for Nish Aravamudan (nacc)

---
php-defaults (35) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Simplify the package versions to use only SUPPORTED_VERSION for common
packages and DEB_VERSION for php-common and php-all-dev to be able to
update mixed versions

 -- Ondřej Surý   Tue, 01 Mar 2016 16:28:34 +0100

php-defaults (34) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Just little fix here and there

 -- Ondřej Surý   Tue, 01 Mar 2016 12:08:28 +0100

php-defaults (33) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Create independent mods-available directory for each PHP version
  * php-common needs to have different version then the rest of the
packages, so it's just $(DEB_EPOCH):$(DEB_VERSION) and it doesn't
include supported PHP versions

 -- Ondřej Surý   Mon, 29 Feb 2016 09:45:39 +0100

php-defaults (32) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Bump epoch to 1, so the new version number is higher than the old
one

 -- Ondřej Surý   Tue, 23 Feb 2016 20:47:04 +0100

php-defaults (31) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Generate package version numbers from PHP supported versions and
changelog version
  * Remove php-dbg package
  * Bump standards version to 3.9.7 (no change)

 -- Ondřej Surý   Tue, 23 Feb 2016 20:25:43 +0100

php-defaults (30) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Regenerate d/control

 -- Ondřej Surý   Tue, 23 Feb 2016 18:41:09 +0100

php-defaults (29) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Update modulelist to match the new extension packages

[Bug 1549407] Re: Please merge with Debian unstable php7.0 7.0.3-9

2016-03-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package php7.0 - 7.0.3-9ubuntu1

---
php7.0 (7.0.3-9ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable (LP: #1549407). Remaining changes:
- Drop support for firebird, c-client, mcrypt, onig, qdbm and zip as
  they are in universe (LP #1547245):
  + d/control: drop Build-Depends on firebird-dev, libc-client-dev,
libmcrypt-dev, libonig-dev, libqdbm-dev and libzip-dev.
  + d/control: drop binary packages php7.0-imap, php7.0-interbase,
php7.0-mcrypt and php7.0-zip and their reverse dependencies.
  + d/rules.d: drop makefile snippets for imap, interbase, mcrypt
and zip extensions.
- d/control: switch Build-Depends of netcat-traditional to
  netcat-openbsd as only the latter is in main.

php7.0 (7.0.3-9) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Replace makefile magic with shell for loop when iterating through SAPI
build targets and enable parallel builds
  * Enable full Debian hardening
  * FORCE_CGI_REDIRECT and DISCARD_PATH doesn't exist anymore, so we just
hardlink php-cgi7.0 to /usr/lib/cgi-bin/ for consistency with older
releases
  * Use shared config.cache between different SAPI builds that speeds up
dh_auto_configure step a lot

php7.0 (7.0.3-8) unstable; urgency=medium

  * Package zlib extension into phpX.Y-common

[Bug 1555843] Re: php7.0: re-add binary packages with universe dependencies

2016-03-11 Thread Steve Langasek
Thanks, this looks good. I've made just a few small adjustments:
 - smash the version to 7.0.3-9ubuntu2. This hasn't been uploaded to the
archive, so no reason to use 9ubuntu3.
 - drop some extra variables in debian/rules (nullstring, space) that were
added but are no longer needed.
 - consolidate some of the references to $(WITH_UNIVERSE) in debian/rules to
shrink the diff.
 - make sure to install the changelog file in the universe packages.
 - use rm -f on debian/tests/control, so that this doesn't fail if the file is
already removed.
 - (php-universe-source only) delete the Testsuite field, since there are no
tests for this package.

Attached my delta between your 7.0.3-9ubuntu3 and the 7.0.3-9ubuntu2
that I'll be uploading. delta for php-universe-source to follow
shortly.

[Bug 1556316] [NEW] Sync usbredir 0.7.1-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

2016-03-11 Thread Nish Aravamudan
Public bug reported:

Please sync usbredir 0.7.1-1 (main) from Debian unstable (main)

Explanation of the Ubuntu delta and why it can be dropped:
  * No change rebuild to get debug symbols for all architectures.
  * No change rebuild to get debug symbols for all architectures.
  * No change rebuild to get debug symbols for all architectures.
  * Resynchronise with Debian. Remaining changes:
- Use dh-autoreconf.

usbredir 0.7.1-1 includes:
  * Call dh with autoreconf in debian/rules (Closes: #734013)
which removes the only logical delta.

The other changelog entry mentioned above is from a rebuild, which will
occur during the sync as well.

Changelog entries since current xenial version 0.7-1ubuntu2:

usbredir (0.7.1-1) unstable; urgency=medium

  * New upstream release (Closes: #813026)
  * Call dh with autoreconf in debian/rules (Closes: #734013)
  * Update debian/*.symbols
  * Bump Standards-Version to 3.9.7 (no changes)
  * Switch to secure uri in debian/control
  * Add DEB_BUILD_MAINT_OPTIONS in debian/rules

I believe no FFe is needed, as the Debian changes between 1.4.25-1 and

debian/control value.

Yes, probably! Sorry, I was basing my changes off the Trusty

[Bug 1549388] [NEW] In some rare cases Postfix connect to a wrong MX server

2016-03-11 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug by Robie Basak (racb):

Hi,

I see on the logs of some of my server some strange lines :

Jan 27 11:39:53 v07 postfix/smtp[11468]: 9CCE614ED3E: to=,
relay=gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[64.233.184.26]:25, conn_use=2,

https://support.google.com/mail/answer/6596 h127si11333632wmd.92 - gsmtp

Here you can see a mail to a yahoo.fr domain and postfix tries to
deliver the mail to gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com !

And there is another strange thing : "conn_use=2". Normally, when
Postfix uses TLS, he can't reuse a connection and with Gmail, Postfix
has to use TLS...

So I look in the smtp process log "11468", just before my line :

Jan 27 11:39:51 v07 postfix/smtp[11468]: SSL_connect error to

In fact the TLS Handshake with gmail fails. It is why the connection is
not in TLS and why I see "conn_use".

I have a lot of examples like this if you need more (the to address is
not always yahoo.fr, sometimes it's outlook.com, aol.com, ...). Every
time I saw this bug, it is with gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com and there is
TLS Handshake bug.

Do you know what happens ?

debhelper also supports -p options to specify which packages it works

I have contacted the postfix-users mailing list.

This is a known and corrected bug as you can see here :

http://article.gmane.org/gmane.mail.postfix.user/254717

But it seems it isn't the case on Ubuntu 14.04 LTS.

Can it be corrected ?

Thank you for your help !

[Bug 1556175] Re: networking.service hangs on shutdown -- killing dhclient has no effect any more

2016-03-11 Thread Martin Pitt
Further bisection shows that 4.3.3-5ubuntu5 is the last version that
works, and 4.3.3-5ubuntu7 is the first version that fails (ubuntu6
cannot be tested as that FTBFSed).

The corresponding diff is http://launchpadlibrarian.net/242313487/isc-
dhcp_4.3.3-5ubuntu5_4.3.3-5ubuntu7.diff.gz -- the change was that this
now links to the non-export bind libraries. There is no
rationale/explanation of that, but supposedly the internal libraries
handle SIGTERM differently.

[Bug 1556094] Re: php5-dev installs wrong symlink to ltmain.sh

Xenial will not ship php5. It hasn't been removed yet, but there will be
only PHP 7.0 (and thus you want to `apt-get install php-all-dev` instead
that will pull correct dependencies).

Ryan,
congrats, well done. :-) I did an extended test with this multipathd/kpartx on
a z/VM guest and in LPAR overnight and it ran very well. Even after 300
"off/on" cycles all paths were "active ready running" at the end.
So, please go ahead with this. I will continue testing this when it is in
xenial/main, since some of my other tests rely on this.

I will close this defect when this fix is in xenial/main.

Public bug reported:

php5-dev installs /usr/lib/php5/build/ltmain.sh as a symlink to
/usr/share/libtool/config/ltmain.sh, however the latter file is not

[Bug 1528583] Re: [FFe] Please update to MySQL 5.7 series

2016-03-11 Thread Robie Basak
Thank you for the detailed testing on this, Lars!

I think that the second issue would not constitute a regression for this
proposed upload; that bug exists already in Xenial. It also doesn't
happen if the Trusty user has mysql-server installed (since that will
cause mysql-server-5.6 to be removed in favour of mysql-server-5.7 in
Xenial). After discussion with Lars, we therefore think that it'll
disappear as soon as we delete src:mysql-5.6 from Xenial and process
NBS, since it is only triggered by mysql-server-5.6.postinst in Xenial.
Or we could try fixing it in Xenial by uploading a new src:mysql-5.6,
but I think that would be a waste of effort since that will be deleted
anyway.

As this bug already exists and we therefore can't regress it by
uploading our new src:mysql-5.7, I presume this should be fine from an
FFe point of view?

So in that case, I think we're ready to upload now. Release Team: please
could you re-ack the FFe?

[Bug 1546214] Re: Docker containers lose their cgroup after systemd reload

2016-03-11 Thread Martin Pitt
I was about to point out the Delegate= option if docker.service wants to
maintain its sub-cgroups by itself -- but it seems that already landed
upstream two days ago: https://github.com/jheiss/docker/commit/64b87f0

There have been plenty of discussions about that "who owns the cgroup
hiearchy"/"single writer" topic, and I don't think this will change
anytime soon (nor will we change the behaviour downstream), so I'll
close the systemd task.

I'll see to pulling this patch into Xenial's docker.

[Bug 1528583] Re: [FFe] Please update to MySQL 5.7 series

2016-03-11 Thread Lars Tangvald
1 Background

These tests were conducted to verify that MySQL upgrades are possible
from from previous Ubuntu releases to Ubuntu 16.04 (Xenial Xerus).

There are 3 live Ubuntu versions:

 - Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (Precise Pangolin)
- Ships with MySQL 5.5

- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr)
- Ships with MySQL 5.5 (default) and 5.6

- Ubuntu 15.10 (Wily Werewolf)
- Ships with MySQL 5.6

Normally, Oracle only supports upgrades from one major version to the
next (5.5 and 5.6 are considered major versions), so an upgrade from
5.5 to 5.7 should go through 5.6.

Upgrades skipping one major release are not explicitly blocked, but it
is not guaranteed to work in the general case since it is not a design
requirement in MySQL Engineering. However, it may still work, but it
is not generally tested.

On request from Debian/Ubuntu, Oracle has already tested direct
upgrades from 5.5 to 5.7 and found them to be viable. There are no
known problems with upgrading directly from 5.5 to 5.7.

This round of tests is to verify the packaging of MySQL 5.7 in Ubuntu
16.04. In particular, it verifies that all documented upgrade paths
work with a database containing example data.

2 Test design
=

Testing was done using VirtualBox VMs, reverting to snapshots to
test new upgrade paths from the same starting point.

The test installs MySQL on one version of Ubuntu, sets up a simple
database with example data and users, follows the upgrade path to
Ubuntu 16.04 with MySQL 5.7 and verifies that the database is still
usable by running a few simple queries.

The database used was the Sakila Sample Database [1], and the test
queries were based on the example queries [2] for the Sakila Sample
Database and do a couple of INSERT, SELECT and DELETE queries.

MySQL 5.7 packages for Ubuntu 16.04 were installed from the MySQL
Ubuntu Packagers Team PPA [3]. A dependency issue was found and fixed
during testing. The fixed package was uploaded to a separate PPA [4],
which was used to retest.

For each upgrade path, the following steps are taken:

1. Install the starting version of Ubuntu.

2. Install the mysql-server package (if applicable, c.f. Sect 3.2.3).

3. Create a MySQL user "sakila" with a non-empty password.

4. Install the Sakila Sample Database as the "sakila" user.

5. Log in as the "sakila" user and run the example queries.

6. Do the Ubuntu release upgrade process using
   do-release-upgrade.

   When upgrading from 14.04 to 16.04, add the MySQL 5.7 PPA before
   upgrading.

7. If the upgrade is from 14.04 with MySQL 5.6, install the new
   mysql-server metapackage.

8. Verify that MySQL has been upgraded to 5.7.11.

9. Log in as the "sakila" user and run the example queries again.

10. Compare the results of steps 5 and 9.

3. Upgrade Paths

The main paths for upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04 and MySQL 5.7 are
described below.

In addition to this, there are variations of whether or not the user
specified a password for the MySQL "root" user account. If not, the
upgrade to 5.7 should enable the auth_socket plugin (UNIX socket
authentication) to improve security.

For each starting point (Ubuntu version and MySQL version), both empty
and non-empty root passwords have been tested (see Sect. 3 for
details).

An important distinction between starting at Ubuntu 12.04 and Ubuntu
14.04 is that when upgrading from 12.04, 14.04 will have Linux kernel
3.13, but if we start with a fresh install of 14.04, the Linux Kernel
will be version 4.2. This affects apparmor behavior.

There are 6 upgrade paths:

 * P1 Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 with MySQL 5.5 to 16.04
 * P2 Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 with MySQL 5.5 to MySQL 5.6 to 16.04
 * P3 Ubuntu 14.04 with MySQL 5.5 to 16.04
 * P4 Ubuntu 14.04 with MySQL 5.5 to MySQL 5.6 to 16.04
 * P5 Ubuntu 14.04 with MySQL 5.6 to 16.04
 * P6 Ubuntu 15.10 to 16.04 with non-empty root password
 * P7 Ubuntu 15.10 to 16.04 with empty root password

3.1 Ubuntu 12.04 to 16.04
-

Ubuntu 12.04 should be upgraded to 16.04 in a two step process, first
upgrading to 14.04 and then to 16.04 [5].

Ubuntu 12.04 ships with MySQL 5.5, while 14.04 ships with both 5.5 and
5.6, so there are two upgrade paths, one that stays on MySQL 5.5 until
upgrading to 16.04, and one that upgrades to MySQL 5.6 in 14.04.

3.1.1 P1 Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 with MySQL 5.5 to 16.04
--

* Install MySQL 5.5 on Ubuntu 12.04, and enter an empty root password
* Perform the testing of the Sakila Example Database
* Upgrade Ubuntu to 14.04
* Upgrade Ubuntu to 16.04
* Perform the testing of the Sakila Example Database

3.1.2 P2 Ubuntu 12.04 to 14.04 with MySQL 5.5 to MySQL 5.6 to 16.04
---

* Install MySQL 5.5 on Ubuntu 12.04, and enter a non-empty root password
* Perform the testing of the Sakila Example Database
* Upgrade Ubuntu to 14.04
* Upgrade MySQL to 5.6 using the mysql-server-5.6

[Bug 1555997] Re: chmod fails with "Operation not permitted" on chowned files in ephemeral container

2016-03-11 Thread Martin Pitt
This still works fine with Linux 4.4.0-8, but fails on 4.4.0-10, so it's
a kernel regression.

This can be reproduced much simpler without LXC:

$ mkdir /tmp/lower /tmp/upper /tmp/work /tmp/merged
$ sudo mount -t overlay overlay
-olowerdir=/tmp/lower,upperdir=/tmp/upper,workdir=/tmp/work /tmp/merged
$ sudo touch /tmp/merged/testfile
$ sudo chown $USER:$USER /tmp/merged/testfile
$ $ chmod +x /tmp/merged/testfile
chmod: changing permissions of '/tmp/merged/testfile': Operation not permitted

+ ===
+ I'm investigating some failures in autopkgtest's testsuite, and stumbled over
something really weird: In an ephemeral container it is apparently not possible
any more to chmod files that started out being root owned and got chowned later:

  $ sudo lxc-start-ephemeral -o adt-wily
  (log in as ubuntu/ubuntu)
  ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ echo hello | sudo tee /tmp/testfile
  [sudo] password for ubuntu:
  hello
  ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ sudo chown ubuntu:ubuntu /tmp/testfile
  ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ chmod +x /tmp/testfile
  chmod: changing permissions of ‘/tmp/testfile’: Operation not permitted

  However, if the file was *not* previously chowned, it works as expected:

  ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ echo hello > /tmp/testfile2
  ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ chmod +x /tmp/testfile2
  ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ chmod -x /tmp/testfile2

  (no errors and testfile2 becomes executable)

  There is no visible permission difference in the files at all, other
  than being group-writable (but changing the group w bit in either
  direction does not change the error at all):

  There are also no ACLs involved (I checked with getfacl).

  This does not happen with a normal lxc-start, so this might very well be
  a bug in Linux' overlayfs. However, it also does not happen with the
  more modern "sudo lxc-copy -n adt-wily --ephemeral --foreground" -- bug
  perhaps this isn't using overlayfs?

[Bug 1498344] Re: package nova-common 1:2014.1.5-0ubuntu1.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-03-11 Thread György Szombathelyi
Current workaround: run nova-manage db sync as root, then apt-get install -f
But it is not very convenient (also a nova.sqlite in the python base dir is
weird).

[Bug 1498344] Re: package nova-common 1:2014.1.5-0ubuntu1.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2016-03-11 Thread György Szombathelyi
The problem here is when nova-compute updated, and no connection= string in
nova.conf, the postinst script will start nova-manage db sync with the nova
user. But without the connection string, the default path points to
/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages, so nova user cannot write the sqlite db there.
I think db sync should not run when a connection string is not present in
nova.conf.

[Bug 1555997] [NEW] chmod fails with "Operation not permitted" on chowned files in ephemeral container

2016-03-11 Thread Martin Pitt
Public bug reported:

I'm investigating some failures in autopkgtest's testsuite, and stumbled
over something really weird: In an ephemeral container it is apparently
not possible any more to chmod files that started out being root owned
and got chowned later:

$ sudo lxc-start-ephemeral -o adt-wily
(log in as ubuntu/ubuntu)
ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ echo hello | sudo tee /tmp/testfile
[sudo] password for ubuntu:
hello
ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ sudo chown ubuntu:ubuntu /tmp/testfile
ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ chmod +x /tmp/testfile
chmod: changing permissions of ‘/tmp/testfile’: Operation not permitted

However, if the file was *not* previously chowned, it works as expected:

ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ echo hello > /tmp/testfile2
ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ chmod +x /tmp/testfile2
ubuntu@adt-wily-hvzj1eoa:~$ chmod -x /tmp/testfile2

(no errors and testfile2 becomes executable)

There is no visible permission difference in the files at all, other
than being group-writable (but changing the group w bit in either
direction does not change the error at all):

-rw-r--r-- 1 ubuntu ubuntu 6 Mar 11 10:26 /tmp/testfile

There are also no ACLs involved (I checked with getfacl).

This does not happen with a normal lxc-start, so this might very well be
a bug in Linux' overlayfs. However, it also does not happen with the
more modern "sudo lxc-copy -n adt-wily --ephemeral --foreground" -- bug
perhaps this isn't using overlayfs?

[Bug 1546978] Re: apparmor does not allow to run qemu-dm executable

2016-03-11 Thread Stefan Bader
I guess as the binary is still there it has to be enabled in apparmor. Though
on the other hand, qemu-dm is the old device-model which would/should only be
used when the old xm/xend toolstack is used. And Trusty was the last release
that had that code in at all and I tried hard to get users switched over to
xl/libxl (which would use the standard qemu-system-i386 instead).
So I am maybe a little hesitant here...
