[Bug 1558576] [NEW] OpenSSH Error "Disconnecting: Hash's MIC didn't verify" after upgrading to Ubuntu 16.04

2016-03-19 Thread Brian Knoll
Public bug reported:

SSH was working fine for years, until I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04. When
I upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04, the openssh-server stopped accepting
connections from Ubuntu 14.04 LTS clients, with the following error:

Disconnecting: Hash's MIC didn't verify

The error above shows up on the client side. In the server logs, I see
the following:

Mar 17 10:01:49 falcon polkitd(authority=local): Unregistered Authentication
Agent for unix-process:125110:294284 (system bus name :1.133, object path
/org/freedesktop/PolicyKit1/AuthenticationAgent, locale en_US.UTF-8)
(disconnected from bus)
Mar 17 10:02:06 falcon sshd[125126]: error: Received disconnect from
MY.IP.ADDRESS.HERE port PORTNUMBER:2: Hash's MIC didn't verify [preauth]
Mar 17 10:02:06 falcon sshd[125126]: Disconnected from MY.IP.ADDRESS.HERE port
PORTNUMBER [preauth]

I am using GSSAPI Key Exchange, and GSSAPI authentication. So I am not
using public keys or passwords or anything like that; everything is
entirely Kerberos 5. The problem, also, is only one-way. In other
words, if I upgrade the server to Ubuntu 16.04, it stops accepting
connections from 14.04 clients, but if I go the other direction and
upgrade the client to Ubuntu 16.04, then it can still authenticate
successfully to an Ubuntu 14.04 machine.

I am more than happy to help debug this, so please let me know what you
suggest and I'll do whatever I can to help.

Thanks,
Brian

[Bug 1558485] [NEW] init script can fail when devices are unassigned

2016-03-19 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Public bug reported:

While usually not the case when the init script runs devices could be
unassigned when e.g. a service dpdk restart happens.

In that case the code already does the right things but has still some
implementation details that fail afterwards.
Also in that path it still has a remaining tr change o - to _ which is wrong,
see bug 1554214.

Both should be fixed, so that in case an admin or experiment unassigned
devices and wants to get back to normal by restarting the script would
not fail.

I re-installed the lasted 16.04 beta. Be default the rpc-statd service
is not enabled, I enabled and rebooted, same problem rpcbind does not
start and neither does the nis service. If I manualy start with
systemctl start rpc-statd then rpcbind and rpcbind.statd start. If I
systemctl start nis it does not start, I have to first stop withs
ystemctl stop nis and then do a start. So still no luck getting nis to
start without installing the nfs server.

Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu
better. We appreciate the difficulties you are facing, but this appears
to be a "regular" (non-security) bug. I have unmarked it as a security
issue since this bug does not show evidence of allowing attackers to
cross privilege boundaries nor directly cause loss of data/privacy.
Please feel free to report any other bugs you may find.

[Bug 1528251] Re: WARNING: no suitable primes in /etc/ssh/primes

2016-03-19 Thread Dimitri John Ledkov
looking at openssh source code:
#define _PATH_DH_MODULI SSHDIR "/moduli"
/* Backwards compatibility */
#define _PATH_DH_PRIMES SSHDIR "/primes"

both paths are defined, with primes being a legacy/compat one.
Ubuntu only uses the current default /moduli path.

These are documented in ssh-keygen, you can see this manpage over here
too http://manpages.ubuntu.com/manpages/xenial/en/man1/ssh-
keygen.1.html#contenttoc3

Note, openssh supports and can be forced to use more combinations on
client <-> server than available in the moduli, hence the caveat as per
manpage. If one needs moduli beyond what's available in /moduli path,
one may need to generate extra ones.

Nonetheless, please provide information as to how to reproduce this
error ssh client in use, ssh server in use, and version details of both
client and server. Ideally including architecture and exact package
version numbers. The combined metadata on this bug report is
inconsistent, and I'm failing to reproduce the described errors.

[Bug 1558565] Re: Unprivileged system LXC containers refuse to start after upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04

2016-03-19 Thread Brian Knoll
It did, indeed, have an autodev script configured:

---
# Template used to create this container: /usr/share/lxc/templates/lxc-download
# Parameters passed to the template:
# For additional config options, please look at lxc.container.conf(5)

# Distribution configuration
lxc.include = /usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.common.conf
lxc.include = /usr/share/lxc/config/ubuntu.userns.conf
lxc.arch = x86_64

# Container specific configuration
lxc.rootfs = /var/lib/lxc/boinc/rootfs
lxc.utsname = boinc

# Network configuration
lxc.network.type = veth
lxc.network.flags = up
lxc.network.link = lxcbr0
lxc.network.hwaddr = 00:16:3e:76:25:82

lxc.cgroup.memory.limit_in_bytes = 2G
lxc.start.auto = 1
lxc.hook.autodev=/var/lib/lxc/boinc/autodev
---

I have removed that line, and it now starts up perfectly well. I'm not
clear now whether the autodev script was never there, and it just wasn't
noticed before to cause an error, or whether it disappeared in the
upgrade to 16.04, but either way the container starts now so I'm happy.
I'll leave the ticket open for now in case either of you want any more
information to help track down any possible issue, but if you want me to
close it I'm happy to do so.

Thanks,
Brian

IMHO if the rpcbind service is enabled it should just start at boot time

2016-03-19 Thread Stephen Warren
After updating to the latest packages, this issue is solve. I can lxc-
start, lxc-attach, lxc-stop, and lxc-execute.

I do get some warning/error spew when running lxc-execute though. If
this looks unexpected, I can open a separate bug for it:

$ lxc-execute -n t1 -- /bin/bash
lxc-execute: utils.c: safe_mount: 1691 Invalid argument - Failed to mount
/sys/kernel/debug onto /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/sys/kernel/debug

resource busy
init.lxc.static: initutils.c: mount_fs: 36 failed to mount /dev/mqueue : Device
or resource busy

The first two of those show up in the container log file upon lxc-start
too:

lxc-start 20160316211700.325 ERRORlxc_utils - utils.c:safe_mount:1691 -
Invalid argument - Failed to mount /sys/kernel/debug onto

Device or resource busy - Failed to mount mqueue onto
/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/lxc/dev/mqueue

Thanks very much for fix and bug comments; this has been one of the most
productive bug reports I've ever filed:-)

Since I repackaged DPDK to enable BNX2X with PMD, I think that I'll need
to also, rebuild OpenvSwitch against new libdpdk-dev...

[Bug 1559408] Re: Many PMD driver options are disabled, including "BNX2X"!

2016-03-19 Thread Thiago Martins
Right,

Just for the record, for the first time ever, I'm seeing a different
message here:

---
# ovs-vsctl show

b70c1e0a-20d7-4bdb-98db-467330b72d07
Bridge "br0"
Port "dpdk0"
Interface "dpdk0"
type: dpdk
error: "could not open network device dpdk0 (Cannot allocate
memory)"
Port "br0"
Interface "br0"
type: internal
ovs_version: "2.5.0"
---

It is not "could not open network device dpdk0 (No such device)"
anymore! I'm smelling progress!

I'll take a look on my Hugetable settings now...

[Bug 1559408] Re: Many PMD driver options are disabled, including "BNX2X"!

2016-03-19 Thread Thiago Martins
After digging into DPDK source code, I found this:

--
cd ~/sources/dpdk/dpdk-2.2.0/drivers/net/

grep -ri \/firmware *

bnx2x/bnx2x.c:#define FW_NAME_57711 "/lib/firmware/bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.2.51.0.fw"
bnx2x/bnx2x.c:#define FW_NAME_57810 "/lib/firmware/bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.2.51.0.fw"
--

However, those files doesn't exists on Ubuntu 16.04! Package linux-
firmware doesn't have any of it. So, I downloaded it:

--
cd /lib/firmware/bnx2x/

wget
https://github.com/cernekee/linux-firmware/raw/master/bnx2x/bnx2x-e2-7.2.51.0.fw
wget
https://github.com/cernekee/linux-firmware/raw/master/bnx2x/bnx2x-e1h-7.2.51.0.fw
--

And then, no more firmware errors!

--
journalctl | grep -i ovs

https://paste.ubuntu.com/15429791/
--

 However, still doesn't work! Look:

--
ovs-vsctl add-br br0 -- set bridge br0 datapath_type=netdev

[Bug 1558125] Re: ntpd doesn't synchronize to local clock (ntpd 4.2.8p4/xenial)

2016-03-19 Thread Jonathan Sylvain
Tested and confirmed it's working now.

There appears to be a behavioural change from 4.2.6 to 4.2.8 when using
the local clock as a source.

In 4.2.6 the sync would be almost instantaneous while on 4.2.8 it will
poll itself for a while before syncing as if it were an external
resource.

I was able to overcome this delay by setting the local source as
preferred

The new config in /etc/ntp.conf
server 127.127.1.0 prefer
fudge 127.127.1.0 stratum 3

4.) Reboot, repeat step 3
5.) Capture instance and provsion new instances; repeat step 3

[Test Case 2]: New instance
1.) Build new cloud image from -proposed
2.) Boot instance
3.) Confirm that instance provisioned
4.) Boot instance and confirm that it works with Docker Extension

[UPSTREAM TESTING]: The Canonical Cloud Image team has been working with
Microsoft to ensure that this package is well tested. Validation will be
performed by both Microsoft and the Canonical Cloud Image team.

[ORIGINAL REQUEST]

[Bug 1558336] [NEW] [needs-packaging] juju-mongo-tools3.2 in xenial, wily, and trusty

2016-03-19 Thread Curtis Hovey
Public bug reported:

# juju-mongo-tools3.2

The Juju team wants juju-mongo-tools3.2 packaged in xenial.

lp:~sinzui/ubuntu/xenial/juju-mongo-tools3.2/xenial-mongo-tools3.2

This package is new. Upstream replaced the mongo tools included in
MongoDB 2.x with new tools from the mongo-tools project. This project
is written in Go. This package required a patch to support arm64.

## juju-mongo-tools3.2-debian.diff

This diff shows my debianisation of juju-mongo-tools.
1. The package uses five golang-dev packages from xenial
   * There ware four matching golang-dev packages in wily.
2. This package uses the system ssl (instead of go's x-crypto)
3. This is a dep-5 package.
   * upstream has utility to manage golang package deps and save them
 to th vendor dir.
   * This implementation is similar Juju's godeps tool so i record
the git commit for the package in the license comment.
4. The embedded and minimise JS is a nightmare. I collected the
missing sources and include them in the copyright file and in
   the missing-sources dir. see juju-mongo-tools3.2-missing-sources.diff.
5. I patched one file to fix an arm64 build error.
syscall.Dup2 is not supported by arm64, use syscall.Dup3.
6. The rules to build the many mongo tools are simple, though there
is a few steps to setup the G0PATH.
   * Using the same technique as the juju-core package in xenial,
I create a SYSTEM_GOCODE path and link all the installed golang dev
packages to it. SYSTEM_GOCODE is the first item in the GOPATH.
   * The mongo-tools package is not a valid Go package path :/
I follow the packages own example of creating a sensible
GO package path that I call LOCAL_GOCODE. I symlink the content
of this package into the LOCAL_GOCODE path. This is the second item
 in the GOPATH.
* I also add the vendor path as the last item in GOPATH.

## juju-mongo-tools3.2-missing-sources.diff

The missing sources for the emedded JS and CSS>
Minimised JS is evil. Sane servers compress the text, which is
superior to removing whitespace.

Ok, but rpcbind should start as soon as nis asks for it.

What does 'systemctl status rpcbind.socket' show on boot (i.e. before you've
manually started rpcbind)?

Would ybind for some reason be trying to connect to rpcbind via localhost,
instead of using the UNIX socket (/run/rpcbind.sock)?

[Bug 1558069] [NEW] Login complains "Your environment specifies an invalid locale", doesn't say which locale

2016-03-19 Thread Graham Leggett
Public bug reported:

On login to a brand new trusty machine with all updates applied, the
following message appears:

_
WARNING! Your environment specifies an invalid locale.
This can affect your user experience significantly, including the
ability to manage packages. You may install the locales by running:

   sudo apt-get install language-pack-UTF-8
 or
   sudo locale-gen UTF-8

To see all available language packs, run:
   apt-cache search "^language-pack-[a-z][a-z]$"
To disable this message for all users, run:
   sudo touch /var/lib/cloud/instance/locale-check.skip
_

- The message complains about an invalid locale, but then doesn't tell
you what the locale is or what is invalid about it.

- The suggested advice "sudo apt-get install language-pack-UTF-8" breaks
as follows:

ubuntu@z4-dev-black-wap01:~$ sudo apt-get install language-pack-UTF-8
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: Unable to locate package language-pack-UTF-8

The above warning needs to be fixed to contain the locate that is
invalid, and to provide accurate package names in the advice given to
fix it.

[Bug 1547927] Re: LDAP_OPT_X_TLS_REQUIRE_CERT handling differences between ldaps:// and STARTTLS

2016-03-19 Thread Maciej Puzio
A bug has been found in libldap code that interferes with the value of
"require cert" option. It affects libldap built with GnuTLS, as is done
in packages supplied by Ubuntu and Debian. The bug causes the value to
be read from previously freed memory, often resulting in incorrect or
random value being used. This bug has been fixed upstream by the
OpenLDAP team, but the fix has not yet been backported to Ubuntu.

Bug 1557248
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openldap/+bug/1557248

The problem you describe may be caused by this bug, or by an unrelated
problem. However, in any case Ubuntu libldap packages currently in wily
and xenial do not handle "require cert" option correctly. With this in
mind, may I ask that you vote for bug 1557248 in order for it to get
noticed by Ubuntu maintainers.

[Bug 1558310] Re: Latest updated stopped exim4

2016-03-19 Thread Robie Basak
Hi Peter,

I believe the security team were stuck between this behaviour and
leaving users vulnerable. See http://www.ubuntu.com/usn/usn-2933-1/ for
details. There's also information in
/usr/share/doc/exim4-config/NEWS.Debian.

If there's some way to solve this that fixes the security problem and
also doesn't hit some users with customised configurations then we'd
love to hear it. But otherwise, this was known by the security team at
the time of issuing the update, and the alternative of not leaving users
vulnerable was chosen, so I'm marking this bug as Won't Fix.

If you can propose some other solution, please do so and set the bug
status back to New. Thanks!

[Bug 1558196] [NEW] rpcbind does not start on boot under systemd

2016-03-19 Thread John Sopko
Public bug reported:

did apt-get update/upgrade March 16, 2016
Description:Ubuntu Xenial Xerus (development branch)
Release:16.04

rpcbind does not start on boot, tried various systemd debugging steps
with no clues. After boot systemctl start rpcbind works. There is a
/etc/init.d/rpcbind and a /lib/systemd/system/rpcbind.service config
files which is confusing.

[Bug 1558565] Re: Unprivileged system LXC containers refuse to start after upgrade to Ubuntu 16.04

Could be that we somehow fixed a bug where the failure to run the script
wasn't considered fatal before but is now.

Anyway, sounds like the error you were getting makes sense to me so
closing this as invalid (not a bug).

2016-03-19 Thread rannsaicher
In my case, may have been change of ip address on server(reset of router
dhcp tables) I had locked server to ip address in router and set bind
address in my.cnf to that address to allow logins across my network.).
Update has gone through and Ive changed my.cnf to listen on all
interfaces (bind-address = 0.0.0.0 ) in case ip adresss of server
changes again. As far as Im concerned this bug can be closed.

[Bug 1557830] Re: [needs-packaging] juju-mongodb2.6 in xenial, wily, and trusty

2016-03-19 Thread Robie Basak
Hi Curtis,

This looks good. A few minor things:

1. Please run update-maintainer so as not to make the Debian mongodb
maintainer appear to be responsible for this package.

2. Architecture list in d/control: we prefer to just say "Architecture:
any" and let things FTBFS on architectures we are not directly
targeting. This makes life easier for porters, for example xnox. Please
update the architecture lists to xnox's satisfaction.

3. Quilt patch drops are misleadingly documented, since patches have
changed as well as been dropped. Maybe it's easier to just say that
you've synced upstream patches with the mongodb 1:2.6.10-0ubuntu1 from
the archive? I'd be fine with that as a changelog entry.

4. As discussed on IRC, since you based this on ubuntu4 and we've had 5
and 6, there are some things that could have been dropped. Please can
you check this? If everything is fine, just document that in the
changelog.

5. As discussed on IRC, xnox doesn't want this to regress over
architecture support he ported in juju-mongodb 2.4. Please could you
coordinate with him to reach a conclusion on this? I don't care what you
do here as long as xnox is happy. This may involve adding patches. If
you add patches to juju-mongodb, it may make sense to also add them to
mongodb and/or send things to Debian or upstream. Then our diffs would
remain smaller for the future.

I'm happy to upload if the above is resolved (even if that means no
action). In the longer term, it may be worth figuring out a workflow to
keep these Juju-specific mongodb packages updated, as we expect a number
of them. The server team's new git-based workflow for merges might be
worth looking at, since one thing in common is the need to maintain a
delta against something else, and verifying that delta when we bump
upstream versions.

[Bug 1553419] Re: php7.0: update to latest version of packages from Debian unstable

2016-03-19 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package php-universe-source7.0 -
7.0.4-5ubuntu1

---
php-universe-source7.0 (7.0.4-5ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium

  * Build of universe components to match LP: #1553419 upload of php7.0.
- d/rules: mark universe as enabled.
- d/control{,.in}: add Build-Depends on firebird-dev,
  libc-client-dev, libmcrypt-dev, libonig-dev, libqdbm-dev and
  libzip-dev.
- d/control{,.in}: rename Source: to match this build. [previously
  undocumented]
- drop Testsuite: autopkgtest since this package has no tests.
- d/control: remove binary packages that are not built by this
  source package. [previously undocumented]

php7.0 (7.0.4-5ubuntu1) xenial; urgency=medium

  * Merge with Debian unstable (LP: #1553419). Remaining changes:
- Add support for independent source packages php7.0 and
  php7.0-universe-source (LP #1555843):
  + d/control{,.in}: drop Build-Depends on firebird-dev, libc-client-dev,
libmcrypt-dev, libonig-dev, libqdbm-dev and libzip-dev.
  + d/control: drop binary packages php7.0-imap, php7.0-interbase,
php7.0-mcrypt and php7.0-zip and their reverse dependencies.
  + d/control{,.in}: add Build-Depends on dctrl-tools.
  + d/rules.d/ext-interbase.mk: add pdo config to interbase's
config, as php7.0-universe-common will not use ext-common.mk.
- d/control{,.in}: switch Build-Depends of netcat-traditional to
netcat-openbsd as only the latter is in main.
- d/rules: do not generate debian/tests/control when building for
  universe.
- d/rules: use grep-dctrl to remove binary packages not generated by
this source package during the build (dpkg-genchanges complains
  otherwise).
  * Drop:
- d/rules: use grep{,-dctrl} to filter out makefile snippets and
  binary packages that require universe.
  [ Not present ]
- Undocumented changes to debian/control.
  [ Prior merge churn]
  * php7.0-interbase: Do not install pdo.so, as it is provided
by php7.0-common (LP: #1556486).

[Bug 1557852] Re: [needs-packaging] juju-mongodb3.2 in xenial, wily, and trusty

2016-03-19 Thread Robie Basak
Hi Curtis,

Again, this looks good on the whole. As discussed on IRC, please add
dep3 headers to the quilt patches to help me review and so that we can
maintain this better going forward.

debian/copyright also probably needs a glance for both this and the 2.6
package, but as discussed I'll leave that between you and the archive
admin.

I've not completed review yet, but the other changes look fairly
straightforward to me. Hopefully this is enough to unblock you.
