2017-07-11 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Can you edit that file like how it is suggested in the first answer
here:

https://askubuntu.com/questions/844108/dpkg-error-processing-package-
unattended-upgrades

That person changed the header of the initscript to this, just below the
shebang line:
### BEGIN INIT INFO
# Provides:  PanasonicMFSlpd
# Required-Start:$all
# Required-Stop:
# Default-Start: 2 3 4 5
# Default-Stop:
# Short-Description: Panasonic scanner driver
# Description:   Panasonic scanner driver
### END INIT INFO

I don't know what it was like originally, maybe it had plymouth in the
required-start line.

Make a copy of the script, so you have the original one at hand if
needed, and try the above change, see if it helps.

[Bug 1703266] Re: package openvpn 2.4.0-4ubuntu1.3 failed to install

2017-07-11 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Unfortunately the attached logs don't help much. A full ps output, like
ps fauxw, would have perhaps shown in more detail what was going on,
which process called what, etc.

I'll mark this bug as incomplete for now. If it happens again, feel free
to update it. Otherwise, it will expire on its own after a while.

Thanks!

[Bug 1703381] Re: ntpd does not restart after failing to start upon boot

2017-07-11 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

The logs you pasted showed ntp failing to run because something else was
listening on its socket already.

In xenial, there is a systemd service that also tries to keep the clock
accurate, called systemd-timesyncd.service. It has checks, though, to
not try to start if ntp is installed:

# systemctl status systemd-timesyncd
● systemd-timesyncd.service - Network Time Synchronization
   Loaded: loaded (/lib/systemd/system/systemd-timesyncd.service; enabled;
vendor preset: enabled)
  Drop-In: /lib/systemd/system/systemd-timesyncd.service.d
   └─disable-with-time-daemon.conf
   Active: inactive (dead)
Condition: start condition failed at Ter 2017-07-11 08:55:03 BRT; 7h ago
 Docs: man:systemd-timesyncd.service(8)

This is what is preventing systemd-timesyncd from running on my system, where I
have ntp installed:
# cat
/lib/systemd/system/systemd-timesyncd.service.d/disable-with-time-daemon.conf
[Unit]
# don't run timesyncd if we have another NTP daemon installed
ConditionFileIsExecutable=!/usr/sbin/ntpd
ConditionFileIsExecutable=!/usr/sbin/openntpd
ConditionFileIsExecutable=!/usr/sbin/chronyd
ConditionFileIsExecutable=!/usr/sbin/VBoxService

Do you have that file
/lib/systemd/system/systemd-timesyncd.service.d/disable-with-time-daemon.conf,
and does it have the same content as above?

Can you show the output of "sudo systemctl status systemd-
timesyncd.service"?

Assuming you can reproduce the problem at will, could you please run this
command right at the time where ntp has failed to start:

sudo fuser -v 123/udp

Thanks!

[Bug 1703106] Re: package amavisd-new 1:2.10.1-2ubuntu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2017-07-11 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Yes, an invalid configuration will keep generating an error :)

How about you set something like this up:

echo myhostname | sudo tee /etc/hostname
sudo hostname myhostname
echo 127.0.1.1 myhostname.homenet myhostname | tee -a /etc/hosts

After that, the "hostname" command should return "myhostname", and
"hostname -f" (the important one for this case) should return
"myhostname.homenet".

How are you using amavisd without an smtp server? Or is it in another
machine? I'll note that you have this error in your logs as well, so
something is at least trying to use postfix:

jui 08 07:49:49 hostname postfix/sendmail[2988]: fatal: open
/etc/postfix/main.cf: No such file or directory

[Bug 1703490] Re: Unable to mount network volume on 17.10 Samba server

2017-07-11 Thread Andreas Hasenack
I tried your shares, and they seem to work as expected. Note that
[Homes] is read only (default for "read only" is "yes"), so you won't be
able to write to Homes or even Maps under it while connected to Homes,
but if you connect to Maps, then you can:

oot@nsn7:~# for d in Home Maps Media; do mount //10.0.5.55/$d /patrick/$d -o
user=patrick,password=patrick,vers=1.0; done

-rw-r--r--+ 1 1001 1002 0 Jul 11 11:53 hello-there

Note that Home is listed as rw, but it's read-only enforced on the server:
root@nsn7:~# mount -t cifs
//10.0.5.55/Home on /patrick/Home type cifs
(rw,relatime,vers=1.0,cache=strict,username=patrick,domain=15-89,uid=0,noforceuid,gid=0,noforcegid,addr=10.0.5.55,unix,posixpaths,serverino,mapposix,acl,rsize=1048576,wsize=65536,actimeo=1,user=patrick)

A few more questions:

a) I don't understand your mentioning of "run/user/1000/gvfs", how is
that involved?

b) do you have usershares set? try:
sudo net usershare list -l

c) have you tried smbclient?

d) are there other filesystems involved in these shares and their
mountpoints?

e) Can we narrow down which shares are not working, out of your 3? Home,
Maps, Media? Or all of them, when contacted with a xenial samba cifs (or
smbclient)?

My cifs-utils package on xenial is at version 2:6.4-1ubuntu1.1, and my samba
packages are:
# dpkg-query -W samba-common samba-common-bin samba-libs smbclient
samba-common2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.8
samba-common-bin2:4.3.11+dfsg-0ubuntu0.16.04.8

[Bug 1703606] Re: I just did a cold boot and logged in and error report appears every time.

2017-07-11 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

The smbd.service from the samba package is failing to start, but the
attached logs don't give a clear reason as to why.

Could you please attach /etc/samba/smb.conf to this bug? There may be a
configuration error in that file that is causing this problem.

Alternatively, you can run the "testparm" command yourself and see if it
highlights any problems with your configuration file.

Thanks!

[Bug 1703490] Re: Unable to mount network volume on 17.10 Samba server

2017-07-11 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Thanks for filing this bug in Ubuntu.

Could you please share your /etc/samba/smb.conf on that 17.10 server?
The output of "testparm -s" would be best.

I tried the same here and could mount the share just fine from xenial.
Maybe you restricted the smb protocol to higher versions? mount.cifs
will use SMB1 by default, whereas windows 10 will use SMB2 or 3 (can't
recall now).

You can check with "smbstatus" on the server which protocol the connected
client is using:
root@15-89:~# smbstatus

Samba version 4.5.8-Ubuntu
PID Username GroupMachine
Protocol Version  Encryption   Signing

To specify a different version, mount the cifs fileysystem like this:
root@nsn7:~# mount //10.0.5.55/data /data -o user=ubuntu,vers=2.0

[Bug 1703604] [NEW] samba's apport hook uses incorrect syntax to list cifs mounts

2017-07-11 Thread Andreas Hasenack
Public bug reported:

The current apport hook in debian/source_samba.py uses command_output()
incorrectly to list cifs shares:

report['CIFSMounts'] = command_output(['mount', '|', 'grep', 'cifs'])

command_output() from apport.hookutils doesn't use shell or system(), so the
above is just passing a literal "|" to mount as a parameter, which fails:

Where does this panasoniclpd-init script come from? Some proprietary printer
package perhaps? It seems to be causing your problems. Can you try removing it?

To find out which package it is:
dpkg -S panasoniclpd-init
