[Bug 761463] Re: edquota crashes when used with libnss-db
Hello, jabłko, Thanks for the details. The problem was found on our Lucid build- servers, so this is still a problem there. However, knowing that the problem is fixed in some particular version lets us backport the particular package. I am not sure if anyone will bother with backporting the fix to lucid? [Bug 731879] Re: libpam-ldap depends on ldap-auth-client
Hello, I have just verified that the libpam-ldap version in Precise (184-8.5ubuntu2) has the same issue. I have a custom package that configures ldap (actually it configures much more than that) and I tried to add: Provides: ldap-auth-config to it, but because libpam-ldap Depends: ldap-auth-config (= 0.5.2) - it ignores virtual packages, and pulls ldap-auth-config which in turn pulls ldap-auth-client. If you do not want to just remove the dependency, perhaps you could add depend on a virtual package name by default and I could use that one instead? I just verified against Debian testing (Wheezy) and their libpam-ldap 184-8.5 does not have this dependency at all. Why is it in Ubuntu? [Bug 731879] Re: libpam-ldap depends on ldap-auth-client
I am using lucid at the moment, libpam-ldap version 184-8.2ubuntu1. Anyway, if you look at maverick and natty you will see that the package is the exact same version, with the same dependencies. ** Changed in: libpam-ldap (Ubuntu) Status: Incomplete = New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libpam-ldap in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/731879 Title: libpam-ldap depends on ldap-auth-client -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 731879] [NEW] libpam-ldap depends on ldap-auth-client
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: libpam-ldap Installation of libpam-ldap adds loads of trash to the system. Dependency on ldap-auth-config pulls also ldap-auth-client. As I can see ldap-auth-config is used for configuration of PAM in some old-way (it overwrites /etc/pam.d/common-*) and not actually using the libpam- runtime's pam-auth-update to manage pam.d files. Meanwhile libpam-ldap also depends on libpam-runtime! So in one package we depend on the old and the new config way, while in fact the postinstall script uses the new one and the user would have to run the old one manually. Why do this at all? And why depend on ldap-auth- client. Perhaps if somebody was interested in this, it could be Suggested? ** Affects: libpam-ldap (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libpam-ldap in ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/731879 Title: libpam-ldap depends on ldap-auth-client -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP on Karmic breaks 'su' and 'sudo'
Yes, the problem went away, when I installed libldap, which I compiled with openssl. apt-get source libldap Edit openldap-2.4.21/debian/configure.options to change --with-tls=gnutls to --with-tls=openssl (do not forget to install the libssl-dev package and build-depends for openldap) debian/rules binary-arch That solves the problem on Karmic. I hope it is going to be solved on the LTS. I was intending to use that for corporate workstations. The fewer manual modifications the better. I do not know if this solution would be acceptable for Debian, due to some license concerns. -- NSS using LDAP on Karmic breaks 'su' and 'sudo' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423252 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libnss-ldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 423252] Re: NSS using LDAP on Karmic breaks 'su' and 'sudo'
I worked around the problem by recompiling libldap2 with openssl. It seems there is either a bug in GnuTLS or some kind of interface bug between ldap and gnutls. This is not the first problem I encountered with openldap and gnutls. Maybe we should link openldap with openssl in the distro? -- NSS using LDAP on Karmic breaks 'su' and 'sudo' https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423252 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libnss-ldap in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
