[Bug 1483214] [NEW] ipmi_si module spams kernel log with ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc.

2015-08-10 Thread Felix Matouschek
Public bug reported:

Hello,

after upgrading my system to 14.04.3 LTS and installing the Vivid-LTS-
Enablement-Stack the kernel log of my system is spammed with the
following message by the impi_si kernel module:

...
[ 2268.244383] ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc.
[ 2269.451974] ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc.
[ 2270.252290] ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc.
[ 2271.452749] ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc.
[ 2272.253057] ipmi_si 00:05: Could not set the global enables: 0xcc.
...

This bug is already known to the ipmi_si kernel module maintainer and
seems to be fixed in 4.0+ kernels.

Is it possible to backport this fix to the Vivid 3.19 kernel?

Please see this mail thread: https://www.mail-archive.com/openipmi-
develo...@lists.sourceforge.net/msg02425.html

IPMI functionality seems to be unaffected by this bug but as I said it
spams the kernel log and that is rather annoying.

[Bug 1379346] [NEW] Error creating a VM: internal error: No PCI buses available

2014-10-09 Thread Felix Geyer
Public bug reported:

In utopic creating a libvirt VM (through virt-manager or virt-install)
fails with: internal error: No PCI buses available.

This is caused by an Ubuntu patch in the qemu package that changes the default
machine type to pc-i440fx-utopic.
It also adds an alias ubuntu for pc-i440fx-utopic. This seems to be the one
actually used.

libvirt has some rules hard-coded how to set up the PCI bus depending on the
machine type.
Obviously it doesn't check for ubuntu.

Attached is a patch that extend the libvirt checks for the ubuntu
machine type.

[Bug 1299186] Re: Creating a Samba Share is not possible because 'net usershare' returned error 255: net usershare add: cannot convert name Everyone to a SID. Access denied.

2014-08-09 Thread Felix Wolters
First of all, this is NOT a duplicate of
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/samba/+bug/1261873. I get the
same problem, while my [homes] section in smb.conf is ok, i.e. ALL the
lines there are commented out.

What happens on at least two independend installations of Trusty, one of
them a fresh one: Trying to share a folder in Nautilus for the first
time makes it automatically ask to install the samba package. This seems
to work, but then a simmilar dialogue appears asking to install libpam-
smbpass, too, but this time the whole dialogue is greyed out and
clicking one of the two buttons (cancel or install) has no effect at
all. It can only be closed clicking the x button in the top corner.

Shares don't work then, as discribed before.

[Bug 1227518] [NEW] CVE-2013-4315: Directory traversal with ssi template tag

2013-09-19 Thread Felix Dreissig
*** This bug is a security vulnerability ***

Public security bug reported:

Django's template language includes two methods of including and
rendering one template inside another:

The {% include %} tag takes a template name, and uses Django's template loading
mechanism (which is restricted to the directories specified in the
TEMPLATE_DIRS setting, as with any other normal template load in Django).
The {% ssi %} tag, which takes a file path and includes that file's contents
(optionally parsing and rendering it as a template).

Since the ssi tag is not restricted to TEMPLATE_DIRS, it represents a
security risk; the setting ALLOWED_INCLUDE_ROOTS thus is required, and
specifies filesystem locations from which ssi may read files.

2012-11-12 Thread Felix
OKAY, this is not fixed yet. Where do i have to send a patch to? It
really is as easy as writing

name resolve order = bcast wins lmhosts host

into smb.conf. Everytime a new Ubuntu is installed users are
experiencing this and think fuck, not even shares work. Considering
they raged about gfx drivers, flash, java, multi monitor setup etc
before, it is a great addition to spend a few hours searching for this
one.

2012-03-15 Thread Felix Geyer
Public bug reported:

keystone doesn't install the copyright file to the binary package
because it never calls dh_installdocs:

$(CURDIR)/debian/keystone-doc/usr/share/doc/keystone-doc/html/_static/jquery.js
# ln -s ../../../../javascript/jquery/jquery.js
$(CURDIR)/debian/keystone-doc/usr/share/doc/keystone-doc/html/_static/jquery.js

[Bug 841672] Re: ssh-add does not unlock ssh keys

2011-10-24 Thread Felix Müller
Please reconsider the importance - it is a quite annoying bug (at
least to me).

Same here. We have rather complex tunneling mechanisms where we hop
over 5+ systems to get to the target hosts. With a strong (and long)
passphrase and some dozen connections a day (remote support) over here
this results in a major degradation of productivity.

[Bug 615077] Re: [Maverick] SDL local window broken in last update

2010-11-29 Thread Felix Joussein
Hi, I also encountered that problem:
I'm running Maverik Merkat 10.10:
Same message operation failed: failed to retrieve chardev info in qemu with
'info chardev'
I played around like when you have a physical machine, that won't work: You
remove piece by piece until it boots to figure out the faulty hardware:
So I figured out, that when I reduce the used physical memory from 3072 MB RAM
to 2048 the machine booted again.
Remains the question: why did it work before with 3072MB and suddenly it stoops.
BTW: I have 12GB physical memory in my server as well as 12 CPU Cores which
gives me 24 threads.
I had this problem before, and then usually a reboot of the machine did it
also, of course, I can't reboot a host that runs 4 productive machines during
business hours...
What I'm curious about: The error message says error to retrieve chardev
info... which console command could I use to directly check for info chardev?

I think this is a mayor issue, as else kvm/libvirt or what ever else is
responsible to cause that, is not to be run in productive environments.
For me I switched from vmware-server to kvm to use pure open source... but I'm
already thinking on going back as these issues, as well as still sometimes
guests looses their network while still showing an up-state link within the
guest - and so far there is no solution for that either.

Thank you for solving those issues!

[Bug 292588] Re: Removing qemu-kvm doesn't prevent kvm module from getting loaded (purging works ok)

2010-11-22 Thread Felix Geyer
The upstart job is a config file so it shouldn't be removed.
qemu-kvm already unloads the kernel modules when it's removed but it loads them
again on boot.

[Bug 274233] Re: Unable to login, GDM or console

2008-09-24 Thread felix
Looking through the logs it seems there is a segfault in pam_smbpass.so
called from login. When logging in from GDM this cause a GDM child to
crash and from the console it causes tty1 to terminate with status 11.
