Winbind still fails on 9.04, 9.10 and 10.04 beta 1. I'm too having the same problem. Now with Intrepid, had it also with Hardy. Using AD 2003 + SFU. At the moment I'm using Samba 3.2.4 packages from Debian Sid to overcome the winbind crashing problem that is still present in Intrepids 3.2.3.
