[Bug 1248054] Re: [SRU] dlm package installation fails

2016-02-27 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Changing

daemon $prog $DLM_CONTROLD_OPTS
to
start_daemon $prog $DLM_CONTROLD_OPTS

doesn't seem constructive. The dependency on the `daemon` binary seems
to be missing and I don't see it added in the `debdiff` for `wily` (and
didn't check the others). As a workaround manually install `daemon` on
`wily`.

This is still an issue on 15.10 and installation of `linux-generic`
doesn't help. Do maintainers want a new bug, `apport-collect` or change
of status?

Or is `bundle` simply no asking for root permissions if necessary like
it suggest (Don't run Bundler as root. Bundler can ask for sudo if it
is needed, and installing your bundle as root will break this
application for all non-root users on this machine.) when run with
`sudo`?

[Bug 1449291] [NEW] usage message of iostat should mention constraints

2015-04-27 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

If one enters `sudo iostat 0 2` which doesn't make any sense the
displayed usage message

Usage: iostat [ options ] [ interval [ count ] ]
Options are:
[ -c ] [ -d ] [ -h ] [ -k | -m ] [ -N ] [ -t ] [ -V ] [ -x ] [ -y ] [ -z ]
[ -j { ID | LABEL | PATH | UUID | ... } ]
[ [ -T ] -g group_name ] [ -p [ device [,...] | ALL ] ]
[ device [...] | ALL ]

doesn't mention the constraint that interval has to be 0 which is
pretty clear, but `interval 0` instead of `interval` provides a
faster clue what's wrong.

[Bug 1447755] [NEW] Provide default configuration files for transport, virtual, etc.

2015-04-23 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter

[Bug 1447755] Re: Provide default configuration files for transport, virtual, etc.

2015-04-23 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
I don't see what your link has to do with the idea of providing example
configuration files with the installation. Or did you just want to say
that the information is somewhere?

[Bug 1447755] Re: Provide default configuration files for transport, virtual, etc.

2015-04-23 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
I don't think that providing the example configuration files would obviate
the need to use the documentation.
No one ever said anything pointing in that direction!

If you use the documentation, then you don't need the sample files.
Agreed, but no argument against my proposal.

Also, there's no requirement that those file names be used.
Don't understand that point neither. Just add commented pointers in `main.cf`
Co. The fact that included and referenced configuration files can be named
differently is quite self-explanatory (why would we write pathes into
configuration files otherwise?).

[Bug 1424237] [NEW] missing manpage for bridge.conf

2015-02-21 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

There's currently no (easy) way to figure out the form of content of
`/etc/qemu/bridge.conf`. Some howtos (e.g.
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/QEMU#Bridged_networking_using_qemu-
bridge-helper) mention `bridge.conf.sample` which is not available
according to `apt-file` and the official wiki at wiki.qemu.org doesn't
mention the file at all, it seems necessary, though, because
specification of `-net nic -net bridge,br=bridge0` fails with `failed to
get mtu of bridge `bridge0': No such device` (can't be investigated
further because setup is completely unclear).

[Bug 1406925] Re: lxc-start fails due to insufficient permission for creating netdev

It'd be nice to validate the prerequisites (e.g. in `debconf` or at
start) and fail with a better feedback (either at start, through package
dependencies or a debconf warning (that the program can't be used or
needs to be reconfigured)) or change default settings at installation.

[Bug 1406925] Re: lxc-start fails due to insufficient permission for creating netdev

2015-01-10 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
I just realize that I added `lxc.aa_allow_incomplete = 1` to the lxc
`config` file before the initial issue. Now after adding the very same
line the issue disappeared, i.e. I can start the lxc `p2`. What now?

[Bug 1406925] [NEW] lxc-start fails due to insufficient permission for creating netdev

2015-01-01 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

After installing an lxc with `sudo lxc-create -n Ubuntu-12.04.5-i386 -t
/usr/share/lxc/templates/lxc-ubuntu -- --release precise --mirror
http://richtercloud.de:3142/de.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu --arch i386`,
starting the container with `sudo lxc-start -n Ubuntu-12.04.5-i386
--foreground` fails due to the following error:

lxc-start: conf.c: instanciate_veth: 2817 failed to attach 'vethY1J1I1' to
the bridge 'lxcbr0' : Operation not permitted
lxc-start: conf.c: lxc_create_network: 3100 failed to create netdev
lxc-start: start.c: lxc_spawn: 829 failed to create the network
lxc-start: start.c: __lxc_start: 1087 failed to spawn 'Ubuntu-12.04.5-i386'
lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 337 The container failed to start.
lxc-start: lxc_start.c: main: 341 Additional information can be obtained by
setting the --logfile and --logpriority options.

It should be possible to start the container right away after
installation of the apt package and handle eventually necessary setup
tasks (of permissions, etc.) in `debconf`.

Currently it's necessary to comment out all `lxc.network.*` entries in
the container configuration file.

Public bug reported:

The `php5-fpm` process which is started during installation with `apt-

file `/var/log/php5-fpm`. After killing the process (after ~30 minutes

[Bug 1376163] [NEW] /etc/exim4/exim4.conf not created, but splitted files are, when file splitting is disabled in debconf

2014-10-01 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

Selecting `no` for file splitting causes creation of splitted config
files in `/etc/exim4/conf.d/` rather than creating
`/etc/exim4/exim4.conf` if `conf.d/` doesn't exist and offering to merge
files into `exim4.conf` it it does exist.

There should be a mechanism which overcomes the usage of `update-
exim4.conf` (which currently creates files somewhere in `/var/` which
doesn't make a lot of sense) simply using `exim4.conf` and `conf.d/`
exclusively allowing to delete `exim4.conf.template` and `update-
exim4.conf.conf` which is consufing for no reason if no used (maybe put
it in an extra package even).

[Bug 1332985] [NEW] Add the krb5-send-pr command to the ubuntu package

2014-06-22 Thread Karl-Philipp Richter
Public bug reported:

According to http://web.mit.edu/kerberos/mail-lists.html it is requested
to send bug reports to the krb5-bugs mailing list with the `krb5-send-
pr` program. It should be added to one of the krb5-* ubuntu packages as
not all bugs make sense to be reported to launchpad.
