Re: [Bug 449735] Re: [SRU] [karmic] Long SMB share names invisible and corrupts encodings

2009-11-12 Thread Michael Lazarev
It looks like this fix is released only in -proposed queue.
I just updated two 9.04 boxes to 9.10, and they still show garbage
instead of Russian letters.
Only after I enabled proposed repository, I got the package where
this fix was applied.
How soon will it become mainstream?

[Bug 459093] [NEW] Broken encoding when listing services and their descriptions

2009-10-23 Thread Michael Lazarev
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: samba

Some of shares of our Windows server are called in Russian.
In Ubuntu 9.04 their names and descriptions were shown perfectly right.
In Ububntu 9.10 the encoding become broken.

Here is an example:
-
ubu...@ubuntu:~$ smbclient -L 192.168.0.3 -U milaz
Enter milaz's password:

I assure you, there are none of such letters like æÔá¡ñáÓÔ¡Ù® «íÚ¿®
ÓÑßÒÓß in Russian!

In Ububntu 9.04 the same listing looked like this:
-
pro...@ws:~$ smbclient -L 192.168.0.3 -U milaz
Enter milaz's password:
Domain=[FSERVER] OS=[Windows 5.1] Server=[Windows 2000 LAN Manager]

The same happens when I see this list in Nautilus. And, of course,
double-click on Äí¼Ñ¡¡¿¬ share in the Network folder gives me error
message Failed to mount Windows share.
