From RH Bug list: It appears the cause was identified and fixed in the latest haproxy upstream release, 1.5.7. From the release announcement on the haproxy mailing list: - John Leach reported an interesting bug in the way SSL certificates were loaded : if a certificate with an invalid subject (no parsable CN) is loaded as the first in the list, its context will not be updated with the bind line arguments, resulting in such a certificate to accept SSLv3 despite the no-sslv3 keyword. Re: [Bug 1068756] Re: IPv6 Privacy Extensions enabled on Ubuntu Server by default
There's no problem with using it in an IPv6 environment if you use IPv6 prefix mechanisms as designed If you've tied down your cloud environment too tight (and technically contra the spec - IPv6 is prefix based, not address based) then you have to expect to make alterations to the standard equipment. I have no problem with the temporary addresses as I scope my machines on /64 boundaries - which is what everything pretty much expects and RFC 5375 recommends. Note that RFC 3177 strongly prescribes 64-bit subnets for general usage, and that stateless autoconfiguration on most link layers (including Ethernet) is only defined for 64-bit subnets. On 4 June 2014 11:57, Alex Bligh ubu...@alex.org.uk wrote: Neil: the metadata is just one example (though that's not happening). The firewall rule thing applies irrespective of the metadata. The cloud environment created requires only /128 addresses it knows about to be accessible, and firewalls everything else out. Reasons for this include prevention of spoofing of IP addresses on outbound traffic. We want each UEC image to come up with the IPv6 address(es) we have assigned, and not a random one in the same /64. This is not an unreasonable requirement. We would use DHCPv6 for this if it weren't for the fact that DHCPv6 is broken in different ways and has little support. IPv6 *as designed* says RFC4941 SHOULD (RFC capitalisation) be turned off by default. So the argument that applications should be using it 'as designed' is bogus, as if it was deployed *as designed* (i.e. per the RFC) it would work. Re: [Bug 1068756] Re: IPv6 Privacy Extensions enabled on Ubuntu Server by default
I would suggest that is a design flaw in your network - which is working in an IPv4 manner, not an IPv6 one. You should have used a prefix smaller than /64 The problem here is with the network design, not the image. On 4 June 2014 14:40, Alex Bligh ubu...@alex.org.uk wrote: That doesn't work if (for instance) you have 2 machines on the same SDN virtual LAN, which is a /64, and you want to prevent source spoofing between them. [Bug 1054035] Re: Adding default user fails due to lack of 'netdev' group
Is the netdev *group* used by Ubuntu server? The way I've done it myself prior to Quantal is to delegate the problem to the user-setup package. add_default_user() { echo Setting up '${CLOUD_DEFAULT_USERNAME}' default user debconf-set-selections EOF user-setup passwd/username string ${CLOUD_DEFAULT_USERNAME} user-setup passwd/user-fullnamestring Default Cloud User user-setup passwd/user-password-cryptedstring ! Re: [Bug 1054035] Re: Adding default user fails due to lack of 'netdev' group
Why are you creating a default user in the 'netdev' group by default when the standard Ubuntu server installation doesn't appear to create that group? That doesn't make any sense. It's always going to fail. On 24 September 2012 16:24, Scott Moser smo...@ubuntu.com wrote: I'm not sure I understand. The way to handle this in cloud-init now is just to be more explicit with your user-data or config (/etc/cloud/cloud.cfg.d). #cloud-config groups: - foogroup users: - name: ubuntu primary-group: foogroup Then you'll get what you asked for. In the past if the user 'ubuntu' did not exist, it would not be created at all. Now, if no 'users' item is specified in config, then it expects that the default user can be created. So, since that default user cannot be created, it is at least arguable that the right path is to fail. Creating groups not explicitly requested by the user would seem wrong. -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1054035 Title: Adding default user fails due to lack of 'netdev' group To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1054035/+subscriptions -- Neil Wilson -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to cloud-init in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1054035 Title: Adding default user fails due to lack of 'netdev' group To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/cloud-init/+bug/1054035/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

On 24 September 2012 18:10, Scott Moser smo...@ubuntu.com wrote: I suppose this is probably for historical reasons. [Bug 1053893] [NEW] cloud-init should be able to switch off password auth in sshd
Public bug reported: I've had a look but I can't see any facilities within cloud-init config system to manipulate the sshd configuration settings. ISTM that cloud-init should open up sshd to the minimum required by the users configured by the cloud-init process (or if told to widen it further). So password auth should be off unless passwords are specified. key auth should be off unless keys are retrieved, possibly sshd should not even be started if there are no users, etc. At the moment the image I'm generating has password auth switched off in the default config, but obviously that means if somebody specifies a passworded user in the cloud-init config, then it won't work. As an aside is there a general move to do all the 'cloud specific config' within cloud-init rather than in the image build? [Bug 862136] Re: Can't define network with IPv6 address in libvirt - fails to define address
From: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=123855 In commit 1faa4356a3bd89ea11fb92752d897cff3a20ec0e to the Linux kernel (which was before 2.6.39 got released so this is the first affected version) the behavior of bridges was changed so that they set the carrier state to off if no interfaces are connected. Libvirt connects a dummy interface to the bridge but doesn't set it to 'up', which means that IPv6 is never activated. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to libvirt in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/862136 Title: Can't define network with IPv6 address in libvirt - fails to define address To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/862136/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 862136] Re: Can't define network with IPv6 address in libvirt - fails to define address
The dummy interface on the bridge is marked down in libvirt to prevent it showing up in the ifconfig listing. But that now also means it won't activate the bridge interface.

You might want to try setting the dummy interface up in libvirt. That may workaround it for now at the expense of polluting the ifconfig listings. ** Patch added: Start dummy bridge interface 'up' rather than 'down' https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libvirt/+bug/862136/+attachment/2480654/+files/Bring-up-dummy-interface.patch ** Tags added: apport-collected running-unity ** Description changed: When defining a network with an IPv6 address, libvirt fails to allocate the address properly and the launch of the supporting dnsmasq processes fails. [Bug 697197] Re: Empty password allows access to VNC in libvirt
Installed patched build onto Maverick server. vnc_listen set to 0.0.0.0 in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf Set vnc_password=' with vnc_tls=1 in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf and confirmed that the lanched server now rejects authentication for any password, whereas it turned off authentication and encryption completely before. Hashed out vnc_password and left vnc_tls=1 in /etc/libvirt/qemu.conf. Confirmed that the server uses anonymous auth with TLS. Allows the user on without a password. qemu-kvm launched with -vnc 0.0.0.0:0,tls,x509=/etc/pki/libvirt-vnc Hashed out vnc_tls=1. Confirmed server allows direct access to VNC. qemu-kvm launched with -vnc 0.0.0.0:0 Set vnc_password=. Confirmed server rejects authentication for any password, with no encryption. Again previously it had just let the user on. qemu-kvm launched with -vnc 0.0.0.0:0,password set vnc_password=password.
