[Bug 518962] Re: ssh client does not forward X11 to local user's networked DISPLAY
Thanks for the workaround instructions. A little cumbersome, but easy enough for the rare times I need this function. -- ssh client does not forward X11 to local user's networked DISPLAY https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 518962] Re: ssh client does not forward X11 to local user's networked DISPLAY
As an added note to anyone trying to replicate this, for the application to actually open on the main workstation computer, that the same VT as used by the terminal (:1 in my example, but can be :0, or anything) must be open on the ssh application client pc (main workstation, in this example) and logged in as the same user. Otherwise, you only get various confusing errors, (either a message about /tmp/.X11-unix/X? file being missing, or Magic cookie failure if not logged in.) -- ssh client does not forward X11 to local user's networked DISPLAY https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 518962] [NEW] ssh client does not forward X11 to local user's networked DISPLAY
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: openssh-client Version: openssh-client 1:5.1p1-ubuntu2 on Ubuntu Karmic (9.10) This is somewhat of a awkward setup, but used to work with older versions of Ubuntu. I work on a X-terminal that connects to my main workstation via XDMCP. Consequently, my $DISPLAY is: :::10.0.0.10:1.0 If I then ssh -X usern...@remotehost, and launch a X application (like gedit, for example) gedit will not open at my DISPLAY. Rather, gedit will open on the :1 display of the main workstation. I was wondering if ssh is getting confused by the ip6 address, but haven't found a way to force it to IP4 (I can change $DISPLAY by hand before launching ssh, but then my magic cookie is invalid) ** Affects: openssh (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- ssh client does not forward X11 to local user's networked DISPLAY https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/518962 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
