Sorry to say so, this should be done before Karmic is released. After spending a lot of time trying to configure openldap I downgraded the packages to the Intrepid version to get a working test ldap on my machine.
Being able to run dpkg-reconfigure slapd and than having the first choice being bare bone or enter the values as before. This should only be a minor change of the command sequence.
