[Bug 965836] Re: `ssh-add -x` does not prevent key use

2015-05-12 Thread Darren Tucker
Are you using gnome-keyring? (I think that's the default).

If so, gnome-keyring doesn't actually implement ssh-agent locking
although it will claim to work.

[Bug 1193176] [NEW] augeas-lenses package lacking support in dhclient.conf lens for append/prepend options

2013-06-20 Thread Darren Spruell
Public bug reported:

Description:Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS
Release:12.04

Linux w01c105asoc 3.5.0-34-generic #55~precise1-Ubuntu SMP Fri Jun 7
16:25:50 UTC 2013 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux

augeas-lenses:
  Installed: 0.10.0-0ubuntu4
  Candidate: 0.10.0-0ubuntu4
  Version table:
 *** 0.10.0-0ubuntu4 0
500 http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages
100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

Have encountered a use case where lacking support for the append and
prepend options in dhclient.conf lens is causing some pain. The lens
for this file appears to reflect this lack of support today the same as
it did in 2008 when it was initially merged into upstream by author:

http://www.redhat.com/archives/augeas-devel/2008-August/msg00306.html

# /usr/share/augeas/lenses/dist/dhclient.aug

(* Intefraces module for Augeas
   Author: Free Ekanayaka f...@64studio.com

   Reference: man dhclient.conf
The only difference with the reference syntax is that this lens assumes
that statements end with a new line, while the reference syntax allows
new statements to be started right after the trailing ; of the
previous statement. This should not be a problem in real-life
configuration files as statements get usually splitted across several
lines, rather than merged in a single one.

TODO: support the default, supersede, append and prepend
   statements
*)

In the TODO it is noted that append option is not supported. I wanted
to see if support for these statements can be implemented and possibly
submitted upstream.

I encounter several use cases exist where this functionality is
necessary; on home networks where ISP provides leases where LAN settings
need to be added for operation on the LAN, and on corporate networks
where it is common for multiple additional settings such as search
domains to be included where DHCP leases may be incomplete.

[Bug 667269] Re: winbind crashes

2011-04-06 Thread Darren Faulke
I still have this problem on a hardy (8.04 x64) machine. All servers
that were upgraded to lucid (10.04 x64) were fixed until the latest
update. I have to manually restart winbind, which takes seconds but is
an inconvenience and requires me to be around to do it. I tried a cron
to restart winbind every so often but it didn't work. It always occurs
in the morning as more people attempt to log in. I have around 20 users
and typically have to restart winbind 1 or 2 times a day for each
server.

[Bug 667841] Re: some virtual machines hang upon boot with maverick kernel on lucid host

2011-01-21 Thread Darren Davison
Hi Serge,

I created a new Lucid guest on a Maverick host, and now it works. As
this is the first time I've tried this since commenting on the bug a few
months ago, I can only assume that one of the Maverick kernel updates,
or a lib-virt update in the meantime has fixed it. To be sure, I need
to try with an old Lucid image (i.e. one I created under a Lucid host)
but will probably have to do that next week now.

Thanks for looking at this.

D.

[Bug 667841] Re: some virtual machines hang upon boot with maverick kernel on lucid host

2010-11-03 Thread Darren Davison
confirmed for me.. after upgrading host machine from Lucid to Maverick
(Linux davisond-laptop 2.6.35-22-generic-pae #35-Ubuntu SMP Sat Oct 16
22:16:51 UTC 2010 i686 GNU/Linux), none of my Lucid or Hardy VM guests
will boot, each hangs after grub stage 2 with Starting... on the
console while the host CPU runs at 100% until the VM is Forced off.

Running non-Ubuntu VM guests on a maverick host seems to be OK (tried an
OpenSUSE and an IPCop image).

Cloning an existing Lucid VM makes no difference, the cloned guest
displays the same problem.

Creating a new Lucid guest on the maverick host works (successfully
installs from .iso media) but booting it causes it to hang BEFORE
loading grub at all (with the single _ ) in the corner of the screen.

Note that all of the above uses disk images created with qemu's raw
format. Converting the image type from raw to qcow2 makes no difference
(hangs at same point) and creating a new Lucid guest with a qcow2 backed
image shows the same behaviour as creating a new guest with a raw image
disk (hangs before grub loads). So it seems not to be image format
related.

This is a blocker for me, I have to revert my host machine back to Lucid
as I need to run those VMs. :( I would say the importance is higher
than medium.

I can now confirm this behaviour on 2 separate host machines and many

about the setup on one of the hosts.

2010-11-03 Thread Darren Davison
I also tried a maverick guest in the maverick host. Same problem.
Looks to be a serious bug in the maverick libvirt/kvm stack somewhere.
Odd that it will run non-ubuntu based kernels without any problem.

Anything further I can do or provide to help someone
diagnose/troubleshoot this?

[Bug 625394] [NEW] Should puppet-master require, suggest or recommend activerecord?

2010-08-27 Thread Darren Worrall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: puppet

Just experimenting with upgrading to 2.6(.1~rc2-0ubuntu1) on maverick. I
installed puppetmaster-passenger (which works great btw), copied over my

not be used without activerecord

I installed libactiverecord-ruby and all was ok, but I noted that at the

suggest/recommend it

For me, it should be a straight dependency, but I use it, so I'm biased!
I suppose that it could also depend/suggest a database adapter, libdbd-

[Bug 536942] Re: --firstboot option broken in 0.12.2-0ubuntu3

2010-08-02 Thread Darren Worrall
Fwiw, the package in lucid-proposed (0.12.4-0ubuntu0.1) fixes this issue
for me. Would love to see it promoted to -updates

[Bug 529714] Re: rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in _nss_wins_gethostbyname_r()

2010-05-09 Thread Darren Couch
Same problem here as well. Removing WINS is not an acecptable solution-
neither is disabling all of the stores.

[Bug 479226] [NEW] Cannot authenticate using PolicyKit dialogs with domain credentials, prompts for local user

2009-11-09 Thread Darren Worrall
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: likewise-open5

When logged in as a domain user - who has root permission via sudoers -
policykit dialogs prompt for the password of a different local user,
rather than who I'm currently logged in as.

local user fooadmin
domain user foo

Not sure which part has their knickers in a twist, apologies if filing
against likewise-open is wrong.

Steps to reproduce:

login as domain user (domain\foo)
try to edit a network connection
when clicking apply, policykit dialog pops up asking for password of local
fooadmin user.

[Bug 388483] Re: smbd panic action with yield_connection name=0x0

2009-07-26 Thread Darren
Harald asked: different workgroup names?
My only change from a default samba install is adding the log level line.
smb.conf says workgroup is MSHOME.
On the Windows side I just tracked it down and it is called WORKGROUP.
I've just changed the workgroup to WORKGROUP in smb.conf, restarted samba,
rebooted windows, and... the panic email still arrives.
Oh well, it was worth a try :-).

[Bug 388483] Re: smbd panic action with yield_connection name=0x0

2009-07-25 Thread Darren
I'm also having this problem.
Samba is running on Ubuntu 8.04, and I when either of two windows XP clients
connects it sends me this email:
The Samba 'panic action' script, /usr/share/samba/panic-action, was called
for PID 9866 ().
This means there was a problem with the program, such as a segfault. However,
the executable could not be found for process 9866. It may have died
unexpectedly, or you may not have permission to debug the process.

Connecting to the samba share from another Ubuntu machine does not cause
the problem.

It is just a simple read/write file share, with guest users allowed. No
printer sharing yet.

I've done a bit of experimentation and just booting windows doesn't
cause it (I have the file share set to mount automatically). But opening
My Computer (i.e. so I can see the share, and can see free disk space)
does. I.e. I do not need to double-click the share and actually see the
files inside to trigger the alert.

The alert just appears to be noise - once I open the folder I can see
and use all the files without any problem.

The problem is consistent and repeatable. I set log level = 3 and my
/var/log/samba directory is full of various log files, some of them rather
large (e.g. 600K). I seem to have one log file per client machine, as well as
log.smbd, log.nmbd, a couple of log.winbind* files, and a couple of log.wb-*
files.
Which of those do you want to see? I'd rather send it directly to an interested
developer rather than post them here, as I'm not knowledgeable about what
privacy issues there may be.
Or if you give me a hint of what to look for, I'm happy to trawl through them a
bit.
