This stuff should be fixed by this init: /etc/init.d/libnss-ldap it runs special /usr/sbin/nssldap-update-ignoreusers script only on reboot. This script adds exceptions for system users. Hangs appear when your systemd was not rebooted correctly or by power loss. libnss-ldapd doesn't work if user doesn't exist in the system. once user is created - ssh authentication works fine.
