Bikermusician, Can you tell us the install messages: Run sudo apt-get purge bind9 sudo apt-get purge bind9utils sudo apt-get purge bind9-doc sudo apt-get install bind9 in a fresh terminal session, and copy THE WHOLE contents of the terminal window, past it here?
