We will not be adding additional modules to any of the flavors. On the roadmap for NGINX in later releases is dynamically-loadable modules. For Trusty, we are not changing existing functionality. On the package description, this is one of the modules provided. After compiling nginx myself I was able to enable the Auth Request module, so I can confirm that the module itself works on my system.
