The /etc/samba/smb.conf file is created by the samba-common package in its post-install script, and not samba. It's copied from /usr/share/samba/smb.conf. For this version of samba, "security = share" is no longer a valid setting. Valid values for the "security" parameter are auto, user, domain or ads.
