Sorry for the delay. I wasn't sure it was nut after all and did various tests. I tried 1.4.3-2 compiled on hardy and still got the warnings, and then today the ups died. I have been using the above configuration with this UPS for literally years. This was a Sarge box recently moved to Hardy (reinstall) and it was only after upgrading to hardy that I had this problem.
