I got this and several other errors which I lost my copy of and have not gone after log files yet. Running the update-manager to upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid. I can confirm that this happens for me while upgrading to intrepid, and it happened again with a second upgrade, it is currently at version 2.4.11-0ubuntu4. At which debconf priority are you running the test upgrade? Yes. Me too. Original slapd.conf from ubuntu. The problem is, while old install on hardy some times ago, ubuntu ask me the password. I give the password. But i dunno. I see slapd.conf still not have "rootpw=". Where the hell the password??? Hi Mathias, I installed the slapd package with "apt-get install slapd" and did no further modifications on the package. This was in a clean VM to test package upgrades. It looks like this is the same bug as #276606.
