[Bug 305014] Re: Authentication fails in cups web admin module

2010-03-31 Thread Jeremy Wilkins
It seems to be resolved by replacing the cups configuration with the
default files. Then you need to log into the web administration system
as a user with sufficient rights on the box. It seems to make updates
you should probably use the user that has sudo and/or lpadmin rights.
In my case, the user which was in LDAP also has sudo and lpadmin rights
and that user can log into the web cups admin and make changes.

[Bug 305014] Re: Authentication fails in cups web admin module

2009-03-23 Thread Jeremy Wilkins
@Till: I have set the root password on this box. It is my server and I need
true root access for some things. Although I have tried my account which also
has sudo and lpadmin rights. It could be an openldap problem, but not directly
with openldap. It seems like the web system gets stuck authenticating against
LDAP, fails and gives up instead of trying unix authentication or it could be
PAM failing. I will try to get LDAP and PAM authentication logs ASAP.
@Paul: Yes, all systems are fully upgraded to the latest versions and I am
still having authentication issues.

We'd like to figure out what's causing this bug for you, but we haven't heard
back from you in a while.
Do you still have problems with this? Thanks.

[Bug 305014] Re: Authentication fails in cups web admin module

2008-12-04 Thread Till Kamppeter
In Ubuntu by default there is no root password defined. If you did not
define one, you have to give the credentials of a user in the lpadmin
group. The first user which Ubuntu creates on installation is in the
lpadmin group.

This can also be a bug of LDAP. Please check appropriate log files.
