I've tested this on Karmic 64bit, and it appears to be solved.

I've retested this bug on my work machine, (Ubuntu 9.04, kernel 
2.6.28-15-generic i686, php version: 5.2.6-3ubuntu4.2) an this appears to be 
fixed.
I'll re-test this bug on karmic this evening when I get home, or during the 
weekend and I'll post the results here.

Arbitrary script control would allow much greater problems than just
redefining constants.  :)
