You have been subscribed to a public bug: On Ubuntu 9.04 (up to date) I did this: - create a folder in home dir - right click it and select "Sharing Options" - in the dialog enabled "Share this folder" - OK'ed the dialog saying to install sharing components, entered password - in a dialog telling me that a restart of session is needed, I clicked "Restart"
Expected result: Being able to access the shared folder from other PC Actual result: When trying to open the shared folder on other PC (Windows XP Pro SP3) it pops up a dialog asking for username and password. I enter my username and password that I use on the linux box, but it just shows the same dialog again. The share (also new created ones) appears in the My Network Places, I just can not open it due to authentication failure. That was yesterday. Since then I shut down my Ubuntu box and todey I started it again. Now, sharing works as expected: I click the share on the Windows PC, it asks for user/pass, I enter it, and voila, I have access to shared files. It seems the mentioned "restart" button does not do its work properly. ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- folder sharing not working without reboot https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/398428 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
