If samba is already installed, it is assumed that you have the technical knowhow to configure your system appropriately. It's true, I had installed smbfs prior to creating the share in nautilus. So that explains why it didn't generate my user. Perhaps assuming that non-technical people won't have installed samba for any reason before adding a share via nautilus is a good assumption.
