I think the context here is that the configuration can be bit of a run- around. Correctly enough, the mailman support list says to contact Ubuntu for support with configuration problems...this is the context of the bug request -- at least for me. Installing mailman, and configuring it for a web interface are two different things. I appreciate that for current releases it might be onerous, but for future releases, this would be a good idea. This is not easily achieved as also upstream Mailman is tightly integrated and upstream also does not really support this separation. Mailman 3.0 (now in beta) promises to support this better, I don't think it's worthwhile to still invest time into this for the 2.x series.
