In Ubuntu Lucid Lynx the upstart-script of vsftpd (2.2.2-3ubuntu6) checks if the directory "/var/run/vsftpd/emply" exists. Istead it should check if the directory "/var/run/vsftpd/empty" exists ('t' instead of 'l') because it will create this directory if it does not exist.
