Thanks for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Looking at the log files, it looks like you may have some corrupted packages. You might try removing the cached packages and refreshing everything: apt-get clean apt-get update apt-get dist-upgrade From there, looking back at your main report, it looks like samba is already installed on your system.
