Public bug reported: Binary package hint: samba
The process got stuck (waited for about 30 minutes) at trying to stop winbind. I unmounted the samba partitions and subsequently manually killed two processes (one of them called winbind.d; both of these are not present after the reboot, so I assume they were related to the update process) Then the update stopped at unpacking the new samba files. I had to reboot the whole machine because of that. This was also troublesome, as hot reboot didn't also work (send TERM signal, but stopped after that) ProblemType: Package Architecture: i386 Date: Mon Sep 20 14:16:12 2010 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 ErrorMessage: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 137 InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 9.10 "Karmic Koala" - Release i386 (20091028.5) Package: winbind 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-16.53-generic SourcePackage: samba Title: package winbind 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 137 Uname: Linux 2.6.31-16-generic i686 ** Affects: samba (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-package i386 -- package winbind 2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5.6 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess new pre-removal script returned error exit status 137 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/643531 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
