[Bug 796216] Re: failed to create\start vm

2011-07-12 Thread Serge Hallyn
Thanks, Max. The libvirt version you have installed is not an official
one. It appears to have come from

https://launchpad.net/~dnjl/+archive/build

Did you intend to use that version? If not, you can remove that ppa or,
if you need the ppa for other packages, you can pin libvirt to a
supported version.

If you did intend to use that version, then you might ask the ppa author
about the bug. To debug it, you'll want to run libvirtd by hand to look
at debugging information, and look at /var/log/libvirt/*.

My guess would be that this version of libvirt is failing to start
because of too old a kernel. A backported kernel may fix it for you.

I'm marking this invalid as the package is not supported.

2011-07-07 Thread Max
dpkg -l | grep libvirt

ii libvirt-bin 0.9.2-5ubuntu0+dnjl0~natty0
the programs for the libvirt library
ii libvirt00.9.2-5ubuntu0+dnjl0~natty0
library for interfacing with different
virtualization systems
ii libvirtodbc06.1.2+dfsg1-1ubuntu4
high-performance database - ODBC libraries
ii python-libvirt 0.9.2-5ubuntu0+dnjl0~natty0
libvirt Python bindings

dpkg -S `which libvirtd`
libvirt-bin: /usr/sbin/libvirtd

I've updated using aptitude dist-upgrade so there might be some related
quirks indeed.

Do you have cgroup-bin installed? If so, do you need it?

2011-06-22 Thread Dave Walker
Thanks for reporting this issue.

When you encounter this issue, please can you try the following and see if the
issue still exists?
$ sudo service libvirt-bin restart

(Suspected to be a known and fixed issue upstream[0], but confirmation
would help. Thanks)

Please do report back, as your feedback will be very useful. Thanks!

sudo service libvirt-bin restart is required after every run of virt-
manager to make it work again.
