[Bug 877549] Re: [MIR] jython build dependencies

2011-10-20 Thread James Page
libbsf-java: jython integration already disabled; removed dependencies
libmx4j-java: remove jython dependencies; disables the ability of run python
through a JMX interfaces - unable to find and rdeps which use both this package
and jython.

Marking all tasks 'Invalid' as jython can now be demoted to universe
along with other un-used dependencies.

** Also affects: antlr3 (Ubuntu)
   Importance: Undecided
   Status: New

** Description changed:

- these were already in main (lucid): libasm3-java, jarjar, stringtemplate
+ Rationale:
+
+ Latest version of jython merged from Debian requires new build/runtime
+ dependencies from Universe
+
+ these were already in main (lucid until oneiric): stringtemplate, antlr3
  these not: libjna-java libjna-posix-java libconstantine-java
-
- needed by libjna-java: junit4
- needed by libconstantine-java: junit4
- needed by junit4: libhamcrest-java
- needed by libhamcrest-java: easymock jmock, qdox, testng
-
- maybe build packages without testing to not promote junit4?

[Bug 877549] Re: [MIR] jython build dependencies

2011-10-19 Thread James Page
libjna-posix-java has been renamed libjnr-posix-java; this is inline
with upstream changes. However build is now maven based so pulls in a
load of extra dependencies. The package ships both ant and maven build
files so it may be possible to switch back.

I'll also look to see if jython could be demoted.

[Bug 877549] Re: [MIR] jython build dependencies

2011-10-19 Thread James Page
Two packages b-d on jython:

libmx4j-java
libbsf-java

Jython is an optional build dependency of both so it would be possible
to drop this feature in both packages.

I highly doubt that anyone is actually using jython with these libraries
but I might be wrong.
