[Bug 386867] Re: package mysql-server-5.0 5.1.30really5.0.75-0ubuntu10.2 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2009-06-15 Thread slick911
Umm, I'm really trying to help here. Note that my patience is running thin, and
I don't appreciate the patronizing tone.
Here is what I've done to disable AppArmor on my system:
sudo invoke-rc.d apparmor stop
sudo update-rc.d -f apparmor remove
After this, everything on my system works smoothly, including mysql. I don't
need apparmor, so there is no point in trying to configure it, or to put it in
complain mode, or whatever. I own this machine, therefore I and only I decide
what can run on it and what can't. I decided to get rid of AppArmor.
I do not want to disable any profile. I simply choose to not run AppArmor at
all.

The repro steps are pretty simple. Once AppArmor is disabled (as per above),
every update that wants to restart mysql fails, because it also starts AppArmor
before that.
Since AppArmor has never been configured on this machine, you can imagine that
the defaults will break a lot of stuff.
I asked that the update leave AppArmor alone, if it's stopped or disabled. It
shouldn't be a big deal. It's not a problem for me anymore, since I removed the
apparmor script from /etc/init.d, but perhaps it will help other people.
This is about all the info I can provide. Thanks for your patience and help.

[Bug 208552] Re: Poor performance in smbclient while transmitting

2009-06-15 Thread Thierry Carrez
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 46081 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/46081

iinomine:
I think there are several separate issues here. Niclas original issue is a
RTL81xx/Samba specific issue, duplicate of bug 46081, also mentionned here:
https://bugzilla.samba.org/show_bug.cgi?id=4889

Your issue is about bad performance of Samba in general compared to a
Windows client. If you want to track that, please open a new bug and
post your interesting benchmarking results there, so that we can rule
out the hardy/RTL81xx/CIFS usual suspects and make sure the discussion
isn't polluted by those. Btw, do you get bad performance using smbclient
? using kernel-based CIFS mounts ? Any regression from when SMBFS was
used instead of CIFS ?

[Bug 222734] Re: Samba usershares in lower-case

2009-06-15 Thread Thierry Carrez
This is apparently done by design (sharename = strdup_lower(argv[0]) in
net_usershare.c), so we cannot change it on our side without introducing a
behavior change with upstream. I'd suggest to bring this up on Samba bugzilla
if you want to convince them to change how this tool should behave ?

[Bug 364531] Re: Unable to migrate Intrepid slapd.conf configuration to Jaunty

2009-06-15 Thread Martin Eriksson
I have this (or similar problem)

I had to migrate slapd.conf to slapd.d. But upgrade still fails, similar
to above (Salik Rafiq). Sorry fot lack of detail, but it is a
production server in a virual environment. I have to rollback snapshot
first sign of trouble.

I can try and perform this upgrade again to add some additional details
for this comment. What logs do you guys need?

Note: I'm running gosa/samba on this server, schemas for this is
included in ldap setup. Could it be some of those that breaks upgrade?
(I had to change name of the gosa+samba3.schema to perform slapd.conf
migration)

[Bug 252686] Re: Reload action on init script kills daemon

2009-06-15 Thread Thierry Carrez
SRU Report for freeradius

Bug Impact: calling the reload init script action for freeradius
results in killing the daemon.

Affected supported releases: hardy. The bug in LSB has been introduced
between gutsy and hardy.

Development branch fix: LSB has been fixed in intrepid so that killproc
correctly transmits signals.

Minimal patch: see attached

TEST CASE:
$ sudo apt-get install freeradius
[...]
$ pidof freeradius
5124
$ sudo /etc/init.d/freeradius reload
 * Reloading configuration files for FreeRADIUS daemon...
$ pidof freeradius
$
Freeradius should be running after the reload.

Regression potential discussion:
This update only impacts the reload action of the freeradius init script, which
is currently completely broken.

[Bug 383710] Re: GSSAPIAuthentication enabled by default contrary to /etc/ssh/ssh_config implication

2009-06-15 Thread Titi Ala'ilima
I figured out the problem. At the bottom of the default config it has:
GSSAPIAuthentication yes
so it overrides the default value. This should be with the commented default
so that it is clear that it is being overridden.

[Bug 345957] Re: iscsid is looking for targets prior to network being available

2009-06-15 Thread theterran
As of 2009.06.15 the issue remains in intrepid (2.6.28-11-server).
Moving S25open-iscsi to S50open-iscsi does not resolve the issue.

As a temporary workaround, I have added the following to /etc/rc.local
so that iSCSI volumes/devices configured with the _netdev option in
/etc/fstab are mounted after boot:

mount -a -O _netdev

Granted, the _netdev option is not currently effective during normal
boot, but this does allow the (re-)mounting of only those devices.

I have also found it helpful at this point to change the restart and
shutdown order so that iSCSI targets are logged off prior to stopping
networking, as follows:

$ sudo mv /etc/rc0.d/S41open-iscsi /etc/rc0.d/S32open-iscsi
$ sudo mv /etc/rc6.d/S41open-iscsi /etc/rc6.d/S32open-iscsi

2009-06-15 Thread Mathias Gug
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. According to the upstream bug, a fix for this has been
pushed in 5.0.62. However, I am closing it because the bug has been
fixed in the latest development version of Ubuntu - Karmic Koala.

If you need a fix for the bug in previous versions of Ubuntu, please do

developer's attention.

[Bug 359309] Re: mysql client package has broken SSL support

2009-06-15 Thread Bryan Jacobs
That upstream bug looks likely to be the cause. I don't use client
certificates. But regardless of the source of the error, shouldn't
Ubuntu build its package in a way that works rather than one that
doesn't? OpenSSL is already installed on the stock system (even openssh
relies on libssl) - does YaSSL provide some compelling advantage? What
rationale was there for building MySQL against an alternative library?
I doubt that whoever made that decision reasoned it through; if they
had, they would probably have tested the most common use case for SSL
connections and made sure the two libraries could be interchanged.

I think the right solution here is to switch MySQL to build against
OpenSSL rather than yassl, in the absence of an upstream recommendation
or a solid rationale for making the opposite decision.

That upstream bug looks likely to be the cause. I don't use client

relies on libssl) - does YaSSL provide some compelling advantage? What
rationale was there for building MySQL against an alternative library?

There are some licensing incompatibilities between openssl and GPL
software.

See http://www.gnome.org/~markmc/openssl-and-the-gpl.html for an
overview of the issue.

If you could describe a test case so that the bug can easily be
reproduced it would be very helpful to get this issue sorted out.

[Bug 387576] [NEW] Cannot use LDAP accounts on armel build; has incorrect symlink or /lib/nss_ldap.so incorrectly supplied

2009-06-15 Thread Jka
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libnss-ldap

This is a report and manual work around:

Installed info:
Jaunty on an NSLU2 ARM
Description:Ubuntu 9.04
Release:9.04
2.6.28-11-ixp4xx armv5tel

Package:
ii libnss-ldap 261-2.1ubuntu1NSS
module for using LDAP as a naming service

Looks like the build for the armel (NSLU2 specifically) provides an incomplete
symlink'd or unfinished build which doesn't allow LDAP user accounts to operate
locally. A Ubuntu Jaunty i686 client with libnss_ldap installed and configured
to use the NSLU2 servers works ok, but other remote NSLU2 don't.

All 'getent passwd' operation executed on NSLU2 (local or remote) only
list local accounts. Jaunty i686 to NSLU2 'getent passwd' works.

Found on NSLU2 that a library symlink in /usr/lib/libnss_ldap.so
referenced a non-existant /lib/libnss_ldap.so.2

lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2008-11-19 08:32 ./usr/lib/libnss_ldap.so -
/lib/libnss_ldap.so.2
r...@j-slug00:/lib# find /lib/*nss*ldap* -ls
3827760 lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 13 Jun 12 15:54
/lib/nss_ldap.so - nss_ldap.so.1
382775 80 -rw-r--r-- 1 root root76028 Nov 19 2008
/lib/nss_ldap.so.1
r...@j-slug00:/lib#

There exists a file called /lib/nss_ldap.so.1, compared the entry
points with a Jaunty i686 build libnss_ldap.so.2 and they match.

Manual installed workaround solution:

  Create a symlink for libnss_ldap.so.2 - nss_ldap.so.1 in /lib

r...@j-slug00:/ # getent passwd | grep john
r...@j-slug00:/ # cd /lib
r...@j-slug00:/lib#
r...@j-slug00:/lib# ln -s nss_ldap.so libnss_ldap.so.2
r...@j-slug00:/lib# getent passwd | grep john
john:x:1000:1:John Doe:/home/john:/bin/bash
r...@j-slug00:/lib#

Build logfile for ARM shows the build kit problem:

drwxr-xr-x root/root 0 2008-11-19 08:32 ./lib/
-rw-r--r-- root/root 76028 2008-11-19 08:31 ./lib/nss_ldap.so.1
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2008-11-19 08:32 ./usr/lib/libnss_ldap.so -
/lib/libnss_ldap.so.2
lrwxrwxrwx root/root 0 2008-11-19 08:32 ./lib/nss_ldap.so -
nss_ldap.so.1

Re: [Bug 373513] Re: mysql fails to install

2009-06-15 Thread bettlebrox
Problem solved!

I'd moved /var/lib to /home/var/lib (to save space) and made /var/lib a
symbolic link to that directory. This must have caused a problem with
apparmor, as per the line below:

Jun 15 19:19:02 micks-t400 kernel: [29451.814871] type=1503
audit(1245107942.002:30): operation=inode_create requested_mask=a::
denied_mask=a:: fsuid=0 name=/home/var/lib/mysql/micks-t400.lower-test
pid=1895 profile=/usr/sbin/mysqld

Copying /home/var/lib back to /var/lib (after removing the symbolic link)
fixed the problem, and mysql installed successfully.
