Re: [Bug 906735] Re: package installation should create /var/log/puppet
On 2012-01-03T16:44:41-, Adam Gandelman 906...@bugs.launchpad.net wrote: Hi Kenyon, thanks for reporting. I'm having trouble reproducing your logrotate errors with puppet 2.7.1-1ubuntu3.2 on oneiric. It appears the log directory is in fact created by the puppet-common package, on which both the puppet agent and puppetmaster packages depend on. Without later manually removing /var/log/puppet, I am unable to reproduce. I've also confirmed that the corresponding logrotate config is removed on purge, so it should not be attempting rotation if the package is no longer installed / log directory removed during purge. Can you specify with which version of the puppet package you've hit this? Thanks for the reply. I didn't have any puppet packages installed when I reported the bug, I guess that's why apport didn't report the version. Anyway, it was the oneiric version, 2.7.1-1ubuntu3.2. I just tried and was able to reproduce the logrotate error. Remove puppet (and puppet-common) rather than purge, so the logrotate script remains, but /var/log/puppet does not exist. Run sudo logrotate /etc/logrotate.d/puppet after removing the packages to reproduce. Note that I have not configured puppet at all, so /var/log/puppet is empty. -- Kenyon Ralph -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to puppet in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/906735 Title: logrotate can't find /var/log/puppet if package was removed and that directory was empty To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/puppet/+bug/906735/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 911747] [NEW] [Feature] Add AuthorizedKeysCommand to OpenSSH
Public bug reported: RedHat recently applied a patch to their OpenSSH server supporting a new configuration directive: AuthorizedKeysCommand For example: */etc/ssh/sshd_config* AuthorizedKeysCommand /usr/libexec/openssh/ssh-pubkey-helper -s %u In 'ssh-pubkey-helper' you can write custom code for looking up public keys. This is useful in large server environments when you don't want to overwrite the authorized_keys file on every server. We are running a couple of hundred Ubuntu servers and would like to see this patch in OpenSSH. It would give us (and other users) the benefit of having one central place where we maintain our authorization and accounting. [Bug 911747] Re: [Feature] Add AuthorizedKeysCommand to OpenSSH
A quote from the man page from RHEL6 ( or CentOS 6 ): AuthorizedKeysCommand Specifies a program to be used for lookup of the user’s public keys. The pro- gram will be invoked with its first argument the name of the user being autho- rized, and should produce on standard output AuthorizedKeys lines (see AUTHO- RIZED_KEYS in sshd(8)). By default (or when set to the empty string) there is no AuthorizedKeysCommand run. If the AuthorizedKeysCommand does not success- fully authorize the user, authorization falls through to the Authorized- KeysFile. Note that this option has an effect only with PubkeyAuthentication turned on. AuthorizedKeysCommandRunAs Specifies the user under whose account the AuthorizedKeysCommand is run. Empty string (the default value) means the user being authorized is used. “” -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to openssh in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/911747 Title: [Feature] Add AuthorizedKeysCommand to OpenSSH To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/openssh/+bug/911747/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 540747] Re: Apache Web DAV incorrect permissions
** Description changed: + SRU information: + + + [Impact] + This bug stems from web dav modifying files to have permissions 600 instead of the standard 644. When this happens , it is impossible for Apache to then go serve out the pages. This basically makes the webdav unusable and makes a nasty crond chmod script necessary. + + [Development Fix] + First fixed upstream, then brought down as part of apache 2.2.15-3 + + [Stable Fix] + see attached '99-fix-mod-dav-permissions.dpatch' + + [Test Case] + 1) Download the original archive from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/a/apache2/apache2_2.2.14.orig.tar.gz and build with ./configure --enable-dav-fs=shared --enable-dav-lock=shared --enable-dav=shared. + This should result in a mod_dav_fs.so library in modules/dav/fs/.libs. Place such a shared library in /usr/lib/apache/modules as a replacement for the one already there. + 2) Set up a DAV location like so: + IfModule dav_fs_module + + Location /test + + DAV on + + /Location + + /IfModule + 3) Use cadaver to connect to your server and PUT a file in location test. The idea is that the permissions come out as 0600 for the standard Lucid installation and 0644 for the vanilla Apache module. + + [Regression Potential] + Low. This has patch has already been applied upstream and is in use by however many 10.10, 11.04, and 11.10 users. The compiled LTS pachage has also tested by someone that is experiencing the original problem. + + + Original report: + + + Binary package hint: apache2 I am a Git pull/push through Apache https user, and I also use the file- based protocol. Recently I noticed that the Git repository was filled with objects of permission -rw-- belonging to www-data, the Apache server username. After further digging, this is not Git's problem, but possibly mod_dav_fs's. In fact, any file transferred with a DAV PUT command results in said 0600 permissions. Although this is arguably a feature of Ubuntu, I found that the behavior differs from a standard Apache server. To reproduce: 1) Download the original archive from http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/a/apache2/apache2_2.2.14.orig.tar.gz and build with ./configure --enable-dav-fs=shared --enable-dav-lock=shared --enable-dav=shared. This should result in a mod_dav_fs.so library in modules/dav/fs/.libs. Place such a shared library in /usr/lib/apache/modules as a replacement for the one already there. 2) Set up a DAV location like so: - IfModule dav_fs_module + IfModule dav_fs_module - Location /test + Location /test - DAV on + DAV on - /Location + /Location /IfModule 3) Use cadaver to connect to your server and PUT a file in location test. The idea is that the permissions come out as 0600 for the standard Lucid installation and 0644 for the vanilla Apache module. Further evidence supporting the idea that the problem arises from Ubuntu packaging is the rather extensive modifications to mod_dav_fs code in the diff found at http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/main/a/apache2/apache2_2.2.14-5ubuntu3.diff.gz. [Bug 912030] [NEW] The auto.net script that comes with autofs5 is broken
Public bug reported: A long time ago I reported a bug in the autofs package: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/autofs/+bug/111612 That bug was fixed, but now I've discovered that the same bug still exists in the autofs5 package. [Bug 908905] Re: upstart problems with S20squid script
Thanks for submitting this bug. Actually the core of the problem seems to be the existence of the /etc/rc*.d/ links to /etc/init.d/squid. Since at boot those jobs will now be started and stopped by upstart using the /etc/init/squid.conf job, those links should not exist. Could you show the result of: dpkg -L squid ? Assuming those files do not show up in that output, that likely means something went wrong during an upgrade, and you can safely remove them using sudo rm /etc/rc*.d/*squid ** Changed in: squid (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = Low ** Changed in: squid (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to squid in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/908905 Title: upstart problems with S20squid script To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/squid/+bug/908905/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
