confirmed on fresh install of ubuntu 12.04TLS, it is definitely not dependent
on PArnal's local configuration,
for me even "start on (local-filesystems and net-device-up IFACE=eth0)" did not
help
it needs restart of smbd/nmbd after each reboot

[Bug 889423] Re: 802.3ad bonding not configured correctly

2013-02-19 Thread arjarj
Hello,

After an upgrade from 10.04 to 12.04, our interfaces files stopped working for
the 802.3ad interfaces. After converting the interfaces file to the new
"format", the configuration seems to be correct, but I seem to be running into
a timing issue or race condition again. I implemented most hints on this page,
and the ones on
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifenslave-2.6/+bug/1015199 , but if
the system starts up, the bond interfaces don't get their slaves (I've seen
them come up with 0, 1 or 2 slave interfaces).
I'm trying to create bond1 and bond0, both with 2 physical interfaces. As
suggested, the phyiscal interfaces are at the top, the bonds itself are defined
at the bottom of the file.

It's a Dell PowerEdge R610, configured with 12 network interfaces, 4x
broadcom bnx2 onboard, 2x4x igb Intel on quad nic boards. The used
physical interfaces (eth0 through eth3) are mapped to the first 2
interfaces on both of the quad boards. I've tried playing with the pre-
up sleep option as mentioned on comment 33
(https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ifenslave-2.6/+bug/889423/comments/33),
but to no avail. Could it be another timing issue, maybe due to the
large amount of physical interfaces? If I run an "ifdown -a; ifup -a"
from rc.local, all the interfaces come up just fine. The machine isn't
in production yet, so I might be able to test or provide more logging if
necessary.

2013-02-19 Thread James Page
Please can you try:

 sudo service openvswitch-switch force-reload-kmod

Modprobe should prefer the DKMS openvswitch module over the kernel
provided one; brcompat only works with the DKMS version.

[Bug 1130191] [NEW] config IdentityFile entries ignored with agent

2013-02-19 Thread Serge Hallyn
Public bug reported:

I have a pair of ssh config entires which look like:

Host host1
User serge
ProxyCommand none

Host cloud-*
  User ubuntu
  StrictHostKeyChecking no
  IdentityFile ~/some/path/cloudkey
  ProxyCommand ssh host1 nc -q0 %h.cloud %p

If I'm logged in through unity, ssh -vvv shows that it tries all of the
ssh keys under ~/.ssh instead of trying ~/some/path/cloudkey. I assume
ssh would eventually get to trying cloudkey, but the remote end refuses
the login before getting to that. It should try cloudkey first.

If I'm logged into a different window manager (say, dwm), with ssh-agent
running, but where i have to manually run ssh-add, then it works fine.

[Bug 1005551] Re: update-grub-legacy-ec2 ignores kernels named -generic

2013-02-19 Thread Scott Moser
** Description changed:

+ == Begin SRU Information ==
+ [General Description]
+ Amazon's EC2 is a xen based cloud platform, the bootloader that is used is
'pvgrub'. pvgrub runs inside a xen instance, reads a /boot/grub/menu.lst file,
and loads the kernels specified there. It does not support grub2 style
configuration (/boot/grub/grub.cfg). Thus, we have installed inside
cloud-images, a package named 'grub-legacy-ec2' that maintains
/boot/grub/menu.lst.
+
+ grub-legacy-ec2 does not simply assume all kernels are candidates for
+ inclusion in /boot/grub/menu.lst. Instead, it has some very basic
+ whitelist metrics. Those previously required a kernel to end in
+ '-virtual'.
+
+ In the development cycle of 12.10, the -virtual kernel went away. It is
+ now simply a -generic kernel with a subset of modules.
+
+ [Impact]
+ In 12.04, it is now supported to run a 12.10 "backports kernel". These new
kernels will be named in the newer fashion, and will end in '-generic', rather
than '-virtual'. As a result, grub-legacy-ec2's whitelist will not write
entries for these kernels to /boot/grub/menu.lst.
+
+ The end result is that the user who installs these kernels will not be
+ able to easily boot them on EC2 (or other xen guest).
+
+ [Test Case]
+ * Boot a cloud instance or cloud image
+ * install a backports kernel
+ * verify that kernel new kernel is included in /boot/grub/menu.lst
+Previously the kernel would not be included there.
+
+ [Regression Potential]
+ The biggest potential for regression would be in writing an entry to
/boot/grub/menu.lst for a kernel that would not boot. There is protection
against this in the included patch by checking the version number as well as
the name.
+
+ That amounts to:
+  dpkg --compare-versions ${ver_flavor%-generic} ge 3.4.0-3 && return 0;;
+ where 'ver_flavor' is the version as found in the file name of the kernel
(ie, /boot/vmlinux-2.6.35-13-generic).
+ == End SRU Information ==
+
Quantal stopped booting on EC2 around 2012-05-25.

[Bug 1130287] [NEW] mailman logrotate fails

2013-02-19 Thread Egbert
Public bug reported:

Thijs kinkhorst wrote in the release doc. of mailman:

The proposed change does not work on Ubuntu 12:10 because
"su" cannot have two arguments.

This is after an upgrade from Ubuntu 12.04.02 LTS to 12.10.

[Bug 1005551] Re: update-grub-legacy-ec2 ignores kernels named -generic

2013-02-19 Thread Scott Moser
** Description changed:

  == Begin SRU Information ==
  [General Description]
Amazon's EC2 is a xen based cloud platform, the bootloader that is used is
'pvgrub'. pvgrub runs inside a xen instance, reads a /boot/grub/menu.lst file,
and loads the kernels specified there. It does not support grub2 style
configuration (/boot/grub/grub.cfg). Thus, we have installed inside
cloud-images, a package named 'grub-legacy-ec2' that maintains
/boot/grub/menu.lst.

grub-legacy-ec2 does not simply assume all kernels are candidates for
inclusion in /boot/grub/menu.lst. Instead, it has some very basic
whitelist metrics. Those previously required a kernel to end in
  '-virtual'.

In the development cycle of 12.10, the -virtual kernel went away. It is
now simply a -generic kernel with a subset of modules.

  [Impact]
- In 12.04, it is now supported to run a 12.10 "backports kernel". These new
kernels will be named in the newer fashion, and will end in '-generic', rather
than '-virtual'. As a result, grub-legacy-ec2's whitelist will not write
entries for these kernels to /boot/grub/menu.lst.
+ In 12.04, it is now supported to run a 12.10 "enablement kernel"
(https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Kernel/LTSEnablementStack). These new kernels will be
named in the newer fashion, and will end in '-generic', rather than '-virtual'.
As a result, grub-legacy-ec2's whitelist will not write entries for these
kernels to /boot/grub/menu.lst.

The end result is that the user who installs these kernels will not be
able to easily boot them on EC2 (or other xen guest).

  [Test Case]
- * Boot a cloud instance or cloud image
- * install a backports kernel
- * verify that kernel new kernel is included in /boot/grub/menu.lst
-Previously the kernel would not be included there.
+  * Boot a cloud instance or cloud image
+The daily build of a EC2 AMI id at
http://cloud-images.ubuntu.com/server/precise/current/ is fine.
+  * install a backports kernel
+sudo apt-get install linux-generic-lts-quantal
+  * verify that kernel new kernel is included in /boot/grub/menu.lst
+    Previously the kernel would not be included there.
+Previously:
+$ grep "3.5.[0-9]" /boot/grub/menu.lst || echo NOT_FOUND
+NOT_FOUND
+
+But with new update-grub, it will be.
+# enable proposed
+$ echo "deb http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu precise-proposed main" |
+ sudo tee /etc/apt/sources.list.d/proposed.list
+$ sudo apt-get update
+$ sudo apt-get install grub-legacy-ec2
+$ sudo update-grub-legacy-ec2
+$ grep "3.5.[0-9]" /boot/grub/menu.lst || echo NOT_FOUND
+titleUbuntu 12.04.2 LTS, kernel 3.5.0-24-generic
+kernel /boot/vmlinuz-3.5.0-24-generic root=LABEL=cloudimg-rootfs ro
console=hvc0
+...

  [Regression Potential]
The biggest potential for regression would be in writing an entry to
/boot/grub/menu.lst for a kernel that would not boot. There is protection
against this in the included patch by checking the version number as well as
the name.

  That amounts to:
-  dpkg --compare-versions ${ver_flavor%-generic} ge 3.4.0-3 && return 0;;
+  dpkg --compare-versions ${ver_flavor%-generic} ge 3.4.0-3 && return 0;;
where 'ver_flavor' is the version as found in the file name of the kernel
(ie, /boot/vmlinux-2.6.35-13-generic).
  == End SRU Information ==

Quantal stopped booting on EC2 around 2012-05-25.

Hello Ben, or anyone else affected,

Accepted walinuxagent into precise-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/1.3-0ubuntu2~12.04.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please add a comment to this bug,
mentioning the version of the package you tested, and change the tag
from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to

[Bug 1111690] Please test proposed package

2013-02-19 Thread Adam Conrad
Hello Ben, or anyone else affected,

Accepted walinuxagent into quantal-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at
http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/walinuxagent/1.3-0ubuntu2~12.10.1 in
a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

If it does not fix the
bug for you, please add a comment stating that, and change the tag to
verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help
us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

Kent,

What is the status of this request? We have a list of feature requests
that involve systems management, and ipmitool is a big part of it, ask

[Bug 1074443] Re: Please upgrade ipmitool to 1.8.12 for 13.04

2013-02-19 Thread Kent Baxley
Hi Jose,

Our first attempt was to try and get the updated version into upstream
Debian, but the request has stalled out:

http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=692292

Getting into debian-unstable would make it easeir to pull into Raring,
then backport down into Quantal and Precise.

Since things are moving slow here, we're going to look at another means
of getting this out faster for PowerEdge users in the meantime. I'll
come talk to you about what we've got in mind.

[Bug 1130232] Re: Implement GenericIpAddressField in MAAS rather than django.

2013-02-19 Thread Andres Rodriguez
Hi Julian,

This bug does not belong to the packaging nor MAAS *in* Ubuntu, because
GenericIpAddressField patch is not in django nor applied int he
packaging of any Ubuntu packages in the Archives. This is a bug that
affects upstream MAAS and Upstream packaging.

For this reason, this does not belong to Ubuntu MAAS, but rather, this
is for Upstream MAAS/Packaging.

Cheers.

I think it isn't a duplicate of bug 602689 but 1102366 so I changed.

** Description changed:

  Description:Ubuntu 12.10
  Release:12.10
  libapache2-mod-php5:

Under certain circumstances(when somebody who has a session submits POST
data to php page), PHP makes segfaults and no errors are logged except
  segfaults itself.

this is because of an infinite recursion of php_session_rfc1867_callback()
and I found that this bug is identical to PHP bug #62129
  https://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=62129

please review the bug and apply the patch to the ubuntu repository.

[Bug 1130467] [NEW] 'g' argument in combination with 'e' causes Dial() to return to 'h' extension in a different context

2013-02-19 Thread James Troup
Public bug reported:

If the 'g' argument is passed to Dial(), the functionality provided by
the 'e' argument changes subtly (and, for us at least, breaks). If
'g' is passed to Dial(), when control is returned to the 'h'
extension, it returns in a different context, e.g.:

[Feb 19 19:01:46] VERBOSE[5956] pbx.c: -- Executing [s@macro-queueexten:4]
Dial("Local/1004@agents-46b9;2", "SIP/8930,50,rtge") in new stack
[Feb 19 19:01:53] VERBOSE[5956] pbx.c: -- Executing [h@macro-queueexten:1]
NoOp("SIP/8930-0005cea7", "") in new stack

This new context, naturally, has none of the variables of the original
context which breaks what we're trying to do in the 'h' extension.

If I remove the 'g' argument, 'h' is invoked in the original context
as expected.

We're running asterisk 1:1.8.10.1~dfsg-1ubuntu1 on Ubuntu 12.04.2.

This appears to be a regression from Asterisk 1.4, FWIW.

Re: [Bug 1130232] Re: Implement GenericIpAddressField in MAAS rather than django.

Hey Andres,

Upstream doesn't have packaging really. The packaging branch that's
there belongs to Ubuntu, it just happens to be owned by Maas
maintainers.

Cheers
