[Bug 1413388] Re: [SRU] upgrade of MAAS removes local config for bind and breaks DNS
I tested by installing bind9 on Trusty, then installing maas 1.7.6+bzr3376-0ubuntu2~14.04.1. I verified that the forwarders were properly migrated to the MAAS configuration, as long as at least one cluster interface was set to be managing DNS. The forwarders are migrated into the MAAS database, and values such as allow-query, allow-recursion, and allow-query-cache (which MAAS had previously always written into /etc/bind/maas/named.conf.options.inside.maas) are now only written if the values are not already present in /etc/bind/named.conf.options. Hopefully this solves the issue for everyone. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to maas in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1413388 Title: [SRU] upgrade of MAAS removes local config for bind and breaks DNS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/maas/+bug/1413388/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1473903] Re: parted will generate two devices when adding one partition on mpath device
I'm not sure why the error from parted's mkpart command, but the fact that there are two different devices is due to the multipath-tools guys deciding to break traddition and configure their udev script to run kpartx and ask it to create the partition with the form base-partX rather than the baseX or basepX ( if base already ends in a digit ), like the rest of linux has done since the dawn of time. From the point of view of multipathd, everything seems correct, by looking at the logs. I even parsed syslog and the output of getHBAInfo in order to find inconsistencies, and the inconsistency is between what multipathd logged as configured for a given target, and what its rport reports at getHBAInfo. So, either multipathd is not configuring the timeouts even though it has the right configuration, or something else is changing those timeouts. The other problem is that multipathd does not include the dev_loss_tmo configuration for 2145 as can be seen from list config. So, it could be not parsing the configuration correctly, or there could be a problem with the configuration. At this point, to move forward, I would like to take a look at your system, and try reconfigure and looking at some strace output of multipathd, to check for writes into sysfs. - == Comment: #34 - Thadeu Lima De Souza Cascardo thad...@br.ibm.com - 2015-03-20 15:56:46 == OK, so I investigated in the system and read some of the code and checked changelog. It looks like Ubuntu is shipping a fairly old version of multipath- tools, which is understandable, since multipath-tools is not very good in doing frequent releases, so one needs to either ship a version closer to upstream git or include its own large set of patches. One of the patches missing is the one attached next. Without that, any devices included in the built-in hardware table will have some of its attributes from the config file ignored. That is the case with 2145. So, we lose the dev_loss_tmo setting for that device. Cascardo. == Comment: #38 - Thadeu Lima De Souza Cascardo thad...@br.ibm.com - 2015-03-20 16:25:39 == The bug this patch fixes would explain why fast_io_fail_tmo is not correctly set in some cases, but not dev_loss_tmo. So, probably, there is another missing patch here. I would like to experiment with the two patches I mentioned, however. Let's try to do this on Monday? [Bug 1431650] Re: Multipath devices take long to initialize during initramfs
** Description changed: + [Impact] + Impacts any user of multipath, regardless of release. Users who do not currently see issues may see them on upgrade to a newer version of systemd/udev. + + [Test case] + See below. Test case can be summarized as boot on a multipath system. + + [Regression potential] + This changes the behavior on locking devices for multipath, to avoid a deadlock with udev. Since this changes the locking behavior of multipath this may also affect other scripts or applications depending on multipath doing an exclusive lock, so scripts or applications could fail because they acquired a lock on the devices prematurely, before multipath was finished. In most cases this shouldn't happen, as it should be limited to an isolated multipath step in the boot process (in initramfs). + + --- + Problem: during initramfs, multipath devices takes long to initialize (~30 seconds?) [Bug 1336568] Re: LVMiSCSI driver can't issue direct I/O through tgtd to iscsi volume
This patch was included in the juno release of cinder and thus is available already in utopic, vivid, etc. It is not available in icehouse/trusty - which this patch is for. ** Description changed: I found a problem which LVMiSCSI driver can't issue direct I/O through tgtd to iscsi volume. In current implementation, qemu-kvm opens device(storage volume) using cache='node'at nova side, however, tgtd opens device without --bsoflags direct at cinder side. Therefore, I/O from guest instances are cached at control node even though the compute node issues O_DIRECT I/O to iSCSI volume. As a result, if control node has a crash, cached data will be lost. This causes data lost problem of guest instance. I will propose a fix of this issue. Here are test environment and confirmation results. (1) Control node - Control node has nova, cinder(c-sch, c-api, c-vol), glance, horizon services. - Use LVMiSCSI driver for cinder backend. (2) Compute node has n-cpu and n-net services. [Confirmation at compute node] On a compute node, qemu opens device file using cache='none'. This means instance can issue direct I/O from guest to the device. [Bug 1473903] Comment bridged from LTC Bugzilla
--- Comment From pt...@cn.ibm.com 2015-07-15 01:28 EDT--- (In reply to comment #12) I'm not sure why the error from parted's mkpart command, but the fact that there are two different devices is due to the multipath-tools guys deciding to break traddition and configure their udev script to run kpartx and ask it to create the partition with the form base-partX rather than the baseX or basepX ( if base already ends in a digit ), like the rest of linux has done since the dawn of time. They need to come in line with the rest of the world and use the correct naming convention. As for the parted error itself, can you try killing udev while issuing that command and see if it still happens? How could we kill udev while issuing the command, please. And please note that this problem cannot be reproduced with latest 3.2 parted. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to multipath-tools in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1473903 Title: parted will generate two devices when adding one partition on mpath device To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/multipath-tools/+bug/1473903/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
[Bug 1469214] Re: HP ProLiant m400 Server crashes with unhandled level 3 translation fault
I prepared a wily package w/ the proposed upstream backport for testing: lp:~dannf/ubuntu/wily/irqbalance/lp1469214 Unfortunately, I'm still seeing irqbalance crash even with this backport: I guess you still test irqbalance on c33, looks that upgrade from trusty isn't good, and I can see lots of this kind of falut in different processes(sshd, stress-ng, systemd...) just after a fresh boot with irqbalance disabled(see attachment), and sounds like a bad upgrade. If you verify the patch on trusty/utopic/vivid, it does fix the issue according to my tests. ** Attachment added: wily.log https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/irqbalance/+bug/1469214/+attachment/4429049/+files/wily.log -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to irqbalance in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1469214 Title: HP ProLiant m400 Server crashes with unhandled level 3 translation fault To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/irqbalance/+bug/1469214/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 1474667] [NEW] log dir permissions are incorrect
Public bug reported: In ceilometer-common.postinst, permissions for the dir /var/log/ceilometer are set to 750. In http://docs.openstack.org/developer/ceilometer/install/manual.html it's stated to Note Please make sure that ceilometer’s logging directory (if it’s configured) is read and write accessible for the user swift is started by. That means the perms need to be 770, not 750. This prevents parts of swift from running, where it uses ceilometer's egg to log info to ceilometer about usage. ** Affects: ceilometer (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to ceilometer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1474667 Title: log dir permissions are incorrect To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/ceilometer/+bug/1474667/+subscriptions -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
