Yes I have all windows fonts installed with winetricks. I use default Wine
with default configuration in UbuntuStudio 16.04 for this apps:

In XFCE always fonts are OK, but in IceWM, jwm, openbox, lubuntu-desktop,

I see that is not possible. I test windows apps in wine in openbox,
razor-qt, lubuntu-desktop, lxqt and is the same, the fonts rendering are
bad. Only in XFCE default see good wine apps.

[ubuntu-studio-devel] antiX Linux, great piece of software to construct other UbuntuStudio

2016-07-26 Thread WMID
Hi to all.

I remember that some one give the idea for use jwm and like x windows
managers to construct a UbuntuStudio release. I

I said I did not like the idea that connect to external monitors was
difficult, and that this is automatic in UbuntuStudio, easy to configure.
In addition I could not set my external monitor VA1931wa-LED ViewSonic to
75Hz to avoid eye strain, but now I found a solution with this script:

#! /bin/bash
# Este es el script que yo utilizo para ponerle 75Hz a mi monitor externo y
al mismo
# Adaptado de "Using xrandr and gtf to add a new mode to your X
configuration at runtime" http://www.arunviswanathan.com/node/53
# Este script funciona primero apagando el monitor de mi laptop y luego
poniendo el nuevo modo al externo y los 75Hz
xrandr --output LVDS1 --off
xrandr --newmode "1280x768_75.00" 102.98 1280 1360 1496 1712 768 769 772
802 -HSync +Vsync
xrandr --addmode VGA1 1280x768_75.00
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x768_75.00
feh --bg-scale /home/wachin/.icewm/wallpaper/Jesus-inside.jpg &
# Para ponerle un wallpaper al escritorio de icewm después que he puesto
los 75Hz.

With this script first:
1.- turn off laptop monitor
2.- turn on external monitor
3.- enable wallpaper (of course in second because this are on)

Now I working in the config files and make a entry in my linux blog

icewm Administrador de Ventanas para PC con bajos recursos en Ubuntu
http://facilitarelsoftwarelibre.blogspot.com/2016/07/icewm-administrador-de-ventanas-para-pc.html

is only in english, but contain very usefull content.

Now I install antiX Linux 2016 to learn the

.icewm

folder, inside this are more configurations that I need to learn.

This antiX have others x window manager like jwm, but I think that IceWM is
the best (this is the default in antiX).

I think that is possible fo UbuntuStudio Team make other release but with
IceWM

Then it would be two download releases that the public would

1.- UbuntuStudio XFCE based
2.- UbuntuStudio IceWM based

But now I have only a several problem. Wine Apps have very bad renderin
fonts, the appearance is bad, and I use a Windows Software that I can't
use: e-Sword

When I set QjackCtl to 128 square/periods and try to save my voice at the
same time that I hear in the laptop the reproductions, appear a message
that said that is not possible to write in the hard drive because a no are
sync. Sorry not have a snapshot and I am a spanish parlant, no remember

But with 4.7 in Backport working fine:

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ubuntustudio-dev/backport-testing
sudo apt-get update && sudo apt-get install ardour

[ubuntu-studio-devel] 16.04 light-locker enable my external monitor without my permission

2016-04-29 Thread WMID
I use always (exept in few times)an external monitor Viewsonic connected to
my laptop Dell Inspirion 1750, in this configuration the monitor of my Dell
is Off and my Viewsonic are in ON and configured to 75Hz to avoid eye strain

With this script:

#! /bin/bash
xrandr --newmode "1280x768_75.00" 102.98 1280 1360 1496 1712 768 769 772
802 -HSync +Vsync
xrandr --addmode VGA1 1280x768_75.00
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x768_75.00

Now in 16.04 in kdenlive with a video to large redendering I leave my
laptop working and I go away, but when I arrive later 2 hours I see my
external monitor in ON but wihout image and my external in ON with image,
and I put in the terminal xrandr and see that my external monitor are not
in 75Hz; this is very bad for my eyes, and for the time lost to repair
this, and to solve this I unistall light-locker and next install
xscreensaver, this never fail

Sorry my english I am a spanish parlant

would be like having a place where those involved can work together and
quickly becoming Wallpapers.

I question if this is possible do on github?

Re: [ubuntu-studio-devel] Desktop Agnostic, Was: Re: Gedit

2015-11-27 Thread WMID
Hi to all, I use the default XFCE environment because I use a external
monitor for my laptop, this is good because recognize fast external
monitors or Projectors, and have a great tool for do this (in 14.04 all
this are present):

http://www.webupd8.org/2012/11/how-to-use-multiple-monitors-in-xubuntu.html

Is not possible imagine to me to use other environment that XFCE (Ubuntu
with Unity not have so agile tool, Kubuntu is very heavy, and other ligh wm
like Enlightenment, fluxbox, openbox, jwm, windows maker, i3, xfe, awesome,
e17, ecewm, or include the great lxde not have this feature) . The reazon
is for in the year 2012 when I made my thesis I use my laptop Dell Inspiron
1750 long hours and my eyes they are remained tired, and difficult to
focus. Next other day, in the work of a friend I use a LCD monitor from a
CPU for 2 hours, and I question to my friend why my eyes are not tired, and
said to me that this are a LCD monitor are from a casino, and that this are
made for people to stay as long as possible looking at the monitor without
tiring. Then I started researching on Google and found that the refresh
rate to 75Hz is good for the eyes(on some places, not in all), and I saw
that this monitor settings are default 75Hz, and so I was then bought an
external monitor ViewSonic VA1931wa-LED and configured to 75Hz with a
script, here I upload two, one for viewsonic and other for external Plasma
Panasonic, this are an adaptation from
http://www.arunviswanathan.com/node/53

Note: I see that in each monitor is not possible put 75Hz, I see in cybers,
friends, I saw that in expensive monitors is possible this.

I try, that in some instances at this refresh rates obtain 75Hz

1280x768
1280x800
1024x768

Here Add a tutorial

Monitor Externo: ViewSonic VA1931wa-LED
Laptop: Dell Inspiron 1750

follwing this:

http://www.arunviswanathan.com/node/53

I do that

wachin@wachin-Inspiron-1750:~$ gtf 1280 768 75

I obtain:

  # 1280x768 @ 75.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 60.15 kHz; pclk: 102.98 MHz
  Modeline "1280x768_75.00" 102.98 1280 1360 1496 1712 768 769 772 802
-HSync +Vsync

See this: http://i.imgur.com/YyGTFHf.png

Now, with this: "1280x768_75.00"

and this: 102.98 1280 1360 1496 1712 768 769 772 802 -HSync +Vsync

I put in the terminal:

wachin@wachin-Inspiron-1750:~$ xrandr --newmode "1280x768_75.00" 102.98 1280
1360 1496 1712 768 769 772 802 -HSync +Vsync

and next:

wachin@wachin-Inspiron-1750:~$ xrandr --addmode VGA1 1280x768_75.00

and next:

wachin@wachin-Inspiron-1750:~$ xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1280x768_75.00
wachin@wachin-Inspiron-1750:~$

Now I have my script working:

#! /bin/bash
xrandr --newmode "1024x768_75.00" 81.80 1024 1080 1192 1360 768 769 772 802
-HSync +Vsync
xrandr --addmode VGA1 1024x768_75.00
xrandr --output VGA1 --mode 1024x768_75.00

EXPLICATIONS:

The output displayed for the external monitor when connecting the laptop is
VGA1, it can be seen putting on the terminal:

wachin@wachin-Inspiron-1750:~$ xrandr

Re: [ubuntu-studio-devel] Documentation for 16.04

2015-10-19 Thread WMID
I have a idea, perhaps is possible ussing the package from deepin linux
user manual, to make a tutorial:

wget -c
http://packages.linuxdeepin.com/deepin/pool/main/d/deepin-user-manual/deepin-user-manual_1.0+git20131206100813~1a99425fff_all.deb

The steps are two:

1.- Replace (backup) default sources.list for the coming attached here

2.- Install the key

wget http://packages.linuxdeepin.com/deepin/project/deepin-keyring.gpg
gpg --import deepin-keyring.gpg
sudo gpg --export --armor 209088E7 | sudo apt-key add -

See this video that I made https://youtu.be/wnp5ScK74kY

This is an interesting question! At the moment, there are 4 choices for
 video editing:
 - ptivi,
 - openshot
 - kdenlive,
 - blender

On a personal note, i have to confess that ptivi and openshot have given
me nothing but frustrations. They are the reason i installed kdenlive
back when it was not included in ubuntustudio. I also believe kdenlive
is the only reason i have kde libraires.

While i must say Kdenlive is a great tool, Blender VSE has become
amazingly powerful. So much that i had almost forgotten about kdenlive
 all together...

The reason I put it up there is to check if it will affect Ubuntu Studio
or not. It could be that it will continue to work just as before, but it
raised some questions when I read Kdenlive's latest updates:
 ---
We stick to KDE Applications release schedule, which means one bugfix
release every month, one feature improved version every 4 months.

Since we are now based on Qt5/KF5, you NEED KDE Frameworks 5 to run
 Kdenlive.

You will have to run a recent distribution offering KF5, this may be
problematic at the beginning (you can stick to 0.9.10)...
 ---
So it could be that 0.9.10 would be that last version for Ubuntu Studio,
 or not.

I have tried several video editors over the year and they all have their
advantages and disadvantages. PiTiVi and openshot I would say are in the
same category, easy to do home videos but not suitable for any medium or
advanced editing. Making a amateur home music video with more than one
video and one audio file is IMHO a mess.
Kdenlive is quite powerful, but not the best GUI. This might have changed
with the latest version though. You can with some work do a lot but it more
often require google skills and reading forums to understand how to do it.
Not click-and-drag like in Mac or Windows environments.
Blender, to me, is more of a 3D application and not really a video editor
even though you would be able to do a music video in Blender. I think it's
a big step for someone new to linux to give them an advance 3D application,
 here go do some videos!

So far Kdenlive have been the least worst choice. I know a Swedish film
maker who's latest project are entirely done in Kdenlive.

Then there is Lightworks and Cinelerra which are on the advanced side.
They have a bit of more tricky licensing, but I haven't studied them in
 detail.
