Fair enough.

What we need to do is specify what we do where - Hopefully it won't
take too long as I do hate getting tied up in the specifics of things
;-)

More importantly - using the Ubuntu wiki is a good way to encourage
collaboration between teams, since all parts of the Ubuntu community use
it and can see new things being added.

Launchpad has its uses, but it's also important not to get carried away
- in my opinion projects which don't use code will not generally need to
use its repository features.

I had a look as soon as it was created :-) but unfortunately I got
totally lost, and do not yet understand what I can or should do, or -
actually what it can be used for. I am not panicking though, I will be
asking appropriate questions when I can put some time to it (which is
not just now unfortunately)

Hi Alan,

I had a bash at writing a tutorial here:

http://www.justuber.com/blog/2007/04/25/how-to-use-bazaar-and-launchpad-for-hosting-your-code/

I do see why bazaar might look a little scary compared to the wiki however.

If it aint broke.. We already have the wiki, it works, multiple people
have managed to upload content. Why change things. Yes, I understand
revision control, but is it _really_ necessary for the scale of thing
we're doing?

That said, if you wrote a how-to for uploading to bazaar maybe that
might be useful to coerce people over?

Cheers,
Al.

[ubuntu-uk] [uk-marketing] Using launchpad

2007-07-14 Thread Chris Rowson
Hi folks,

I notice that people aren't really using launchpad and bazaar for
ubuntu-uk marketing stuff.

That's cool, but I just wondered if there was a reason why in particular?

Do people find it hard to do, or is there just a lack of interest in
doing it? If people would rather not use it, that's fine we'll just go
back to the wiki, getting people's contributions is a heck of a lot
more important than the way in which we get them.

Cheers

Chris
