[ubuntu-uk] WeLoveLocal.com - maybe a way of spreading the word about Ubuntu?
Hi folks, I've recently setup a group for my local LUG on welovelocal.com, and I wondered if it was worth someone setting up a group for Ubuntu too. Basically welovelocal.com is a bit like a cross between Facebook and the Yellow Pages web site (from what I can see). It allows it's users to submit reviews for companies and also for companies to advertise for free (at least it appears to be free). I thought it might be a good idea for an Ubuntu group so anyone who offers services and support relating to Ubuntu could advertise, and maybe other LUGs could advertise too so new Ubuntu or Linux users could find help in their local area. Anyway, not sure if anyone is interested, but if you are, just check out www.welovelocal.com or http://www.welovelocal.com/groups/devon-cornwall-gnu-linux-user-group/ for the Devon Cornwall LUG group which I have setup. Something similar is the mysociety-backed Groups near you http://www.groupsnearyou.com/ worth putting lugs on there perhaps. As a result it's not easy to marry the two up on groupsnearyou. When the site first started I asked them about this and it was basically dismissed as a feature.
