[Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1590776] Re: hide selection handle when start typing
** Also affects: oxide Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu WebApps bug tracking, which is subscribed to Oxide. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1590776 Title: hide selection handle when start typing Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in Oxide: Confirmed Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: we are showing the selection handle (in addition to the cursor) whenever entering a text field that already has text in it. For example, if you are replying to a Gmail message, you have an annoying blue selection handle blinking where you are trying to type and you can't turn it off. Or on a form, focusing on a field to append text will also show the selection handle. Or a multi line text area, adding a new line and typing at the beginning. Tested Chrome on Android and it behaves differently, and think we should do similar: 1. Show the selection handle initially, but have it disappear when you press any key (space, character, etc.) 2. Tapping anywhere in the field will cause handle to be shown again 3. Also, can we put the selection handle on the bottom of the cursor instead of the top? This is the behavior on Chrome for Android and the rest of our non-html platform in Ubuntu touch. [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1375889] Re: reply to message in gmail shows garbled reply view
I had similar lack of success when tweaking the override in ua- overrides-mobile.js Then I removed the override and starting tweaking the default UA string just to see if it had any effect in UserAgent02.qml. This string caused better formatting of mail.google.com and looked similar to Android. I tested using the browser and opening mail.google.com - did not try the webapp as I don't know if that has it's own override. readonly property string _template: "Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Ubuntu %1%2%3) AppleWebKit/%4 (KHTML, like Gecko) Chrome/%5 %6Safari/%7%8" Maybe the override mechanism is not working correctly? Only issue I observed with this UA String is that double tapping spacebar to insert period and autocaps no longer work when composing/replying to message. ** No longer affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu RTM) ** Changed in: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium => High ** Changed in: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) => Olivier Tilloy (osomon) ** No longer affects: webbrowser-app ** Also affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Assignee: (unassigned) => Bill Filler (bfiller) ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Milestone: None => 12 ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided => High ** Changed in: canonical-devices-system-image Status: New => Confirmed -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu WebApps bug tracking, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1375889 Title: reply to message in gmail shows garbled reply view Status in Canonical System Image: Confirmed Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu: Triaged Bug description: try to reply to a message in gmail webapp I frequently see these issues: 1) the message you are replying too is inlined, but in an ugly fashion. Once you start typing then the view is scrollled. We should behave like Chrome for Android. For issue 1) they show a the message inlined next to a vertical divider which makes it look quite clean. For issue 2) this never occurs on Android. [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1584965] [NEW] [browser] scrolling uneven and queues up
Public bug reported: I've noticed this on a bunch of websites, mainly on Arale but also on krillin, both running latest rc-proposed with and without oxide 1.15 The scenario is I'm on page A, navigate to page B, press back button, then try to scroll page A (flicking up). The page doesn't move for a short time then scrolls super fast almost to the bottom. Seems like the scroll events are getting queued up and then all applied at once. This site reproduces it pretty easy for me: 1) goto boston.craigslist.org 2) type "kayak" in the search field 3) you'll get a page full of results 4) click on one of the results 5) wait till page fully loads, flick quickly a few times, first flicks ignored. then press back button 6) wait till page fully loads and then start scrolling (flicking up, multiple times), first flicks ignored/queued then scrolling happens fast Expected results: the page should start scrolling immediately and keep up with action of finger Actual results: the page is not responsive for a few seconds then scrolls super fast toward the bottom ** Affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: High Assignee: Bill Filler (bfiller) Status: New ** Affects: oxide Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: webbrowser-app (Ubuntu) Importance: High Assignee: Olivier Tilloy (osomon) Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu WebApps bug tracking, which is subscribed to Oxide. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1584965 Title: [browser] scrolling uneven and queues up Status in Canonical System Image: New Status in Oxide: New Status in webbrowser-app package in Ubuntu: New Bug description: I've noticed this on a bunch of websites, mainly on Arale but also on krillin, both running latest rc-proposed with and without oxide 1.15 The scenario is I'm on page A, navigate to page B, press back button, then try to scroll page A (flicking up). [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1418626] [NEW] Embedded YouTube videos stuttering and not playing back smoothly
Public bug reported: Related to bug https://bugs.launchpad.net/webbrowser-app/+bug/1417258. Embedded youtube videos, like this: http://m.bleacherreport.com/articles/2352016-papa-johns-airs-wrong-commercial-congratulates-seahawks-after-super-bowl or this: http://pages.ebay.com/shoptheworld/ do not play back correctly. They exhibit stuttering and stopping, with oxide-renderer process using over 100% CPU. This was worked around on YouTube.com (and webapp) by using overriden UA string which makes YouTube send us a stream that we can playback smoothly. But this UA string is not presented to embedded videos within other sites. We should figure out how we can send the UA override to embedded videos (if possible), and if not what change could we make to our default UA string such that YouTube gives us content that we can render more efficiently. [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1417042] Re: pinch-to-unzoom gesture resets zoom level to max in google maps
I am seeing this as well. Once you zoom in, you basically cannot zoom back out making the app unusable. I've witnessed crashes a few times as well trying to restore the zoom level back to normal so I could continue to use the app. I will try to get some crash files ** Also affects: canonical-devices-system-image Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu WebApps bug tracking, which is subscribed to Oxide. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1417042 Title: pinch-to-unzoom gesture resets zoom level to max in google maps Status in the base for Ubuntu mobile products: New Status in Oxide Webview: New Bug description: This seems to be a fairly recent regression, although I’m not quite sure when it started happening. On Ubuntu Touch, in the google maps application (and in the browser app too), the pinch-to-unzoom gesture almost always resets the zoom level to its maximum, effectively making it impossible to zoom out. This happens both in the latest 14.09-proposed (which has oxide 1.3.5-0ubuntu0.14.10.1~rtm) and in the latest vivid-proposed (which has oxide 1.4.2-0ubuntu1). [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1400372] Re: keyboard re-appears in webbrowser after dismissing
Seeing this issue a lot, not just on gmail. It's quite easy to reproduce. Just load a web page that has a text field and other content. Move cursor into the text field. Swipe the keyboard away. Then try to scroll the page. Expected result: - I can start scrolling the page without the keyboard popping back up Actual result: - As soon as scrolling starts, the keyboard re-appears. [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1374562] [NEW] gmail toolbar scrolls over the message content
Public bug reported: build r67 on krillin Using the Gmail webapp or Webbrowser-app I see the same behavior. Log into gmail and open an email message. You'll notice a toolbar on the top right (with Folder icon, Trash icon, and Down arrow icon). When you scroll the message, the toolbar jumps around on the page. Scrolling from bottom of page to top make it disappear and reappear at the top. Scrolling from top to bottom makes the toolbar scroll down with the content and then finally anchor in the page. It's very apparent the slower you scroll. It's quite annoying when trying to read email. I tried this in Chrome for Android and it does not have the same behavior. The toolbar is fixed in the page there and does not exhibit the same behavior that we do. ** Affects: webbrowser-app Importance: High Assignee: Olivier Tilloy (osomon) Status: New ** Tags: rtm14 touch-2104-10-09 ** Changed in: webbrowser-app Importance: Undecided = High ** Changed in: webbrowser-app Assignee: (unassigned) = Olivier Tilloy (osomon) ** Tags added: rtm14 touch-2104-10-09 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu WebApps bug tracking, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1374562 Title: gmail toolbar scrolls over the message content Status in Web Browser App: New Bug description: build r67 on krillin Using the Gmail webapp or Webbrowser-app I see the same behavior. In theory this might be a nice feature, but it's kind of a problem if one of those pages causes the browser to crash or lock up. The browser app then becomes unusable without manually removing its config. Could we make it ask on launch whether to re-open previous pages, and let the user choose to start fresh if desired? I've noticed this a lot lately, but the specific version I'm using now is from rtm krillin image 33. [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1268056] Re: Should preserve session (open tabs etc.)
Bumping up the priority here. In my testing, especially when running multiple webapps, the oom killer frequently kills the webapps and/or the browser if too many apps are open. We should minimally save/restore the url of the currently viewed page and use the StateSaver mechanism in the sdk to do so. Otherwise when you switch back to the app from the apps lens you are back at the starting page, which is quite annoying if you had previously navigated a few pages deep. Step one should be save/restore url Step two should be save/restore list of open tabs and remember currently visible tabs ** Changed in: webbrowser-app Importance: Medium = High ** Changed in: webbrowser-app Assignee: (unassigned) = Olivier Tilloy (osomon) ** Changed in: webbrowser-app Milestone: None = ux-freeze ** Also affects: webapps-core Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Changed in: webapps-core Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu WebApps bug tracking, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1268056 Title: Save/Restore state when app killed Status in The Webapps-core project: New Status in Web Browser App: Triaged Status in “webbrowser-app” package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: The browser should remember the previously open tabs between runs. Since we want to encourage the use of the UbuntuWebView component (and discourage he use of QTWebkit), we need to move it outside of the .Extras namespace. The precedent for other components is simple Ubuntu.${project}. For example, content-hub has Ubuntu.Content, online accounts has Ubuntu.OnlineAccounts, etc. Following that, UbuntuWebView should reside in the namespace Ubuntu.Browser. Dropping the component from the old namespace will break some apps in the store that are using it. The list of those apps can be found here: https://chinstrap.canonical.com/~alan/log.txt If it would work, adding a symlink from the old location to the new might allow those apps to keep working after the change. If I open the webbrowser-app and press 'Activity' from the bottom toolbar, it can take several esconds (5-10) for the activity tab to display. During that time, no feedback that something is happening is given to the user. Once it does, scrolling up and down is painfully slow. Left to right scrolling with a category (This year, This month, etc) is acceptable. The performance of Activity seems to be aggravated by the number of items in the activity. Eg, if I remove ~/.cache /webbrowser-app and ~.local/share/webbrowser-app, then performance is improved. Accessing bookmarks is also very slow-- you have to go through Activity to access them, and then clicking the Bookmarks tab takes several seconds to display. Vertical scrolling seems better in Bookmarks than in Activity and is usable with the number of bookmarks I have, but the performance is somewhat sluggish and could be improved. [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1324279] Re: can't activate links in google
sorry, not a bug. You have to click on the blue text and not the link (which is confusing). In place. No animation. No animation because it would be too intrusive when going through app stack with right edge swipe. Currently tab/toolbar are open by default when the app is first launched, not when it is resumed after being suspended. Perhaps the above behavior can be accomplished by reacting to changes in Application.active. [Ubuntu-webapps-bugs] [Bug 1293192] Re: Tapping links in Apache-generated directory listings opens wrong link
works fine on build r52 on Nexus 4 ** Changed in: webbrowser-app Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu WebApps bug tracking, which is subscribed to webbrowser-app. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1293192 Title: Tapping links in Apache-generated directory listings opens wrong link Status in Web Browser App: Invalid Bug description: Steps to reproduce: * Open cdimage.ubuntu.com * Try to open ubuntu-touch. You may zoom in as close as you want. Try different scrolling positions. Expected outcome: * ubuntu-touch opens Actual outcome * In most cases ( 50%), ubuntu-touch-preview opens. This seems to be dependent of the scrolling position. Scrolling further to the right increases the chance. If you found a position that opens the wrong link, it happens on 100% of tries. Some other links open links that are below, sometimes even two lines away (up or down). Double tapping the page allows you to highlight links in red by holding them afterwards (no idea what that is good for). The red highlighting is always correct, but nonetheless wrong links get opened (can be seen by the grey overlay). Also happens on Apache-generated directory listings on other sites.
