[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled
Confirmed on HIS Radeon HD 3870 IceQ3 Turbo with proprietary drivers and Ubuntu 9.04 1-3 seconds delay before [mini/maxi]mizing a window. Sound buffer fill stops during this pause. 107_fedora_dont_backfill_bg_none.patch did the job. Delays disappeared. I think, there is a reason why this patch suits one and doesn't suit another. Maybe it Depends on video bios? 6 months passed after I bought this card before a working bios was released. Before that the card has troubles with cooling (fan speed control failed), GPU overclocking, video crashed in 3D mode independent from GPU temp. and speed. But as I just thought It might be more possible that the driver version matters. Some cards (26xx 34xx) may have older driver versions or smth. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 392804] Re: libdrm2 missing/conflicts with fglrx-*-8.620-0ubuntu1~jaunty
I have originally installed fglrx packages from X Updates PPA (X-SWAT, not xorg-edgers). I've commented out XUp PPA line in my /etc/apt/sources.list, run apt-get autoclean, then uncommented XUp repo again and did an apt-get update. Now apt-get dist-upgrade does not suggest any updates at all, and apt-cache policy fglrx-kernel-source does not show anything from XUp available, even though XUp page at Launchpad lists new fglrx packages as having been released three days ago. I am sorry if I filed this problem in the wrong place but I can't find any XUp specific bug tracker and this URL is listed as suggested place to file user bug reports in XUp fglrx packages. Here's what apt- cache policy shows now for libdrm2 on my system: # apt-cache policy libdrm2 libdrm2: Installed: 2.4.9-1ubuntu1~xup~1 Candidate: 2.4.9-1ubuntu1~xup~1 Version table: *** 2.4.9-1ubuntu1~xup~1 0 500 http://ppa.launchpad.net jaunty/main Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status 2.4.5-0ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com jaunty/main Packages -- libdrm2 missing/conflicts with fglrx-*-8.620-0ubuntu1~jaunty https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392804 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 309638] Re: [M76] [fglrx] resume from stand by / hibernate fails on Intrepid 64 on 4GB of RAM
In intrepid, which is the version which the bug was filed against, the issue is not resolved. By quick testing (meaning just installing and watching what happens) the problem seems to be exactly the same. 2G of RAM everything is fine. 4G never resumes. In jaunty, again, nothing interesting happens. But it seems to me that in jaunty there is a quite different problem (probably I should file a bug report). Hibernation actually WORKS with both the release fglrx package, and the one provided by the PPA (and the one provided straight by ATI). The problem in jaunty is that suspend resumes to a blank screen ALWAYS. No matter how much ram is installed. It looks like that the same thing happens to karmic, though to be sure, I have to retest, because my current testing environment is quite a mess. -- [M76] [fglrx] resume from stand by / hibernate fails on Intrepid 64 on 4GB of RAM https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/309638 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 374458] Re: Random Logitech Wireless Mouse Freeze (Kubuntu 9.04)
I am using using ubuntu 9.04 64 bit ( not kubuntu) but I have an interesting observation. With all the talk about nvidia drivers i managed to start the nvidia tool ( i have version 180 installed) and shortly after that I was having problems where the mouse button was non-responsive. I did notice that when I clicked on things within that application, the mouse was being properly recognized but I was not able to click on the close button. The interesting part is when I clicked on the system menu, it reset my menu selection within the nvidia app to the first item. The mouse cursor does move anywhere on the screen but it seems that the nvidia app ( or probably any application ) is not releasing the mouse, is still the only recipient of the interrupts or mouse click messages. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 393503] [NEW] Performance-related changes made by Debian to libxcb 1.1
Public bug reported: Debian has recently made a 1.1-1.2 release of libxcb to stable. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 393509] [NEW] Applications that use libxcb 1.1 cannot open more than 1024 files
Public bug reported: Hi, We have some internal 32-bit applications that end up with a lot of files open. If they in turn call a program that links with libxcb, more often than not, that program segfaults. This has been determined to be because libxcb uses select() and the man page for select() says this: An fd_set is a fixed size buffer. Executing FD_CLR() or FD_SET() with a value of fd that is negative or is equal to or larger than FD_SETSIZE will result in undefined behavior. Moreover, POSIX requires fd to be a valid file descriptor. Later versions of libxcb address this by using poll() I'm attaching the patch that we are using internally against libxcb 1.1-1.1 If you make this SRU, please also ensure that the 32-bit version in ia32-libs gets updated. ** Affects: libxcb (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Applications that use libxcb 1.1 cannot open more than 1024 files https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/393509 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to libxcb in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 356510] Re: [i965] Wierd backlight brightness behaviour looks like flashes on Amilo Si 2636
Bernhard, thanks for testing and the feedback. Just fy, the upcoming kernel for the Karmic release will actually target the 2.6.31 kernel. Since the 2.6.30 kernel sounds promising to fix this issue, I wouldn't expect this issue to regress when the kernel is bumped to 2.6.31. The 2.6.30 based kernels are already available for testing in the Karmic Alpha releases, so for now I'm marking the linux (Ubuntu) task as Fix Released.
