[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442144] Re: Xorg crashes with SIG 11 in FindGlyphRef
Hello Bryce, I will update the bug report tomorrow, as for today I don't have access to this system anymore. As an update in general: I tried to track down the problem, and as it seems to be font rendering (glyph cache), I tried a few options there. The problem is only reproducible when 1) Font Antialiasing is on for Qt/KDE 2) Specific fonts are used (tried: Serif/Sans Serif, which should be an alias to deja-vu (default) As soon as I either change fonts (tried with Arial) or disable font antialiasing I can't reproduce it anymore. I will reproduce it for you tomorrow and add the output requested. Please note that in the meantime I updated the intel driver with the xorg-updates ppa, but the problem stays the same. Just as a sidenote, as the output will differ from what I wrote in the original report. Thanks so far, kind regards Christian -- Xorg crashes with SIG 11 in FindGlyphRef https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442144 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442124] Re: Xorg process always at 100% CPU
The same is happening to me. Using Ubuntu 9.10 beta 64bit running on a USB pen drive. My system is an Acer laptop with a AMD Turion64, 1,5 Gb RAM, ATI Radeon Xpress 1100 128 Mb. Xorg eats up 100% of CPU since booting throughout the session. Im almost sure it didnt happen with the alpha6 release. -- Xorg process always at 100% CPU https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442124 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 376099] Re: xserver crash on closing a window
I'm also experiencing this type of problem. It only started happening to me in the last couple of months though (when I upgraded from my old nvidia 7600 GT to the nvidia 9400GT card). I used to use a different nvidia driver (173 maybe???) but now that wouldn't work and I had to use the 180 version. Since then I had sparatically noticed silly things most of which were not reproducable but the computer would suddenly power off both monitors and then stay frozen or sometimes reboot itself. I finally found a game that I could start up which would reproduce the error 100% of the time called Heroes of Newerth (in beta so requires permission to download the game). The game would startup just fine and start downloading patches and stuff and then after almost exactly 15 seconds, in the middle of it downloading the entire computer would lock up and crash just like what I had randomly noticed in the past. Repeating the process implies that the download wasn't the problem because it resumes where it left off and finishes up more of the upgrade process but it keeps crashing after about 15 seconds (after the login process, doesn't crash at the login screen ever). I had sometimes noticed that Google Chrome would do the same thing if you started typing in the address bar. It would suddenly go extremely slow on its lookups and then power off the computer. These things only happen on my computers using the 180 (or 185 in karmic cases) computers. The intel and ati computers have no problems what so ever with anything. And I don't recall my older video card ever having problems (but it used the version before 180). -- xserver crash on closing a window https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/376099 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Please execute the following command, as it will automatically gather debugging information, in a terminal: apport-collect 442197 This will help us to find and resolve the problem. Bear in mind that you may need to install the python-launchpadlib package from the universe repository. Thanks in advance! When reporting bugs in the future please use apport, either via the appropriate application's Help - Report a Problem menu or using 'ubuntu-bug' and the name of the package affected. I solved the problem by: 1. Open gstreamer-properties (alt+f2, enter gstreamer-properties) 2. Change to the video tab 3. Change the default output plugin to custom 4. Place the following command in the bottom box: videobalance hue=-1 ! autovideosink 5. Close the box and enjoy your now correct colour -- nvidia sets HUE to -1000 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/395476 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
