[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 574941] [NEW] lots of flickering when changing virtual desktops, (de)iconifying windows, etc

2010-05-04 Thread AlainKnaff
Public bug reported:

When performing some window operations which used to be near
instantaneous in 9.04, there is now lots of delay and flickering in
10.04. Worst is when changing a virtual desktop, but also (de)iconifying
a window behaves strangely.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 574946] [NEW] VGA video ignores mode set in xorg.conf

2010-05-04 Thread AlainKnaff
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg

I've got a wide-screen monitor which supports 1680x1050.

However, when I start up the system, it displays a 1360x768 resolution
on VGA, even though I have the following in my xorg.conf:

Section Screen
Identifier Default Screen
Monitor Configured Monitor
Device Configured Video Device
SubSection Display
Modes 1680x1050
EndSubSection
EndSection

It works fine in DVI.

It works fine both with VGA and DVI when fglrx is on

It used to work (on both VGA and DVI, even without fglrx) in 9.04

As a workaround, If I set wine to use an emulated desktop instead of real

It also does not seem to occur even in fullscreen mode on my eee pc 901 Ubuntu

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570151] Re: mouse stuck between screens with xinerama

2010-05-04 Thread koshcu
Hmm I did not know that xinerama was deprecated. So what do they suggest
be used? Eyefinity is only for ati cards and not ready on linux yet.
RandR did not get gpu object support so that does not work with multiple
video cards either. Xinerama seems to be the only technology we have
right now and it has worked for a long time.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 529882] Re: black screen when switching between multiple X session

2010-05-04 Thread tanoloco
just adding that in case B sometimes the blank screen got back when cosing the
switched user session.
I solved it:
1. changing the above conf codes in xorg.conf from Option AGPMode 8 to
Option AGPMode 1
2. completely removing the gnome-screensaver package as suggested here
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/546578

I don't know if these info are useful for debugging action. Hope so.
cheers

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 366651] Re: [RV530] Screen static noise using high resolutions

2010-05-04 Thread larky
This morning I plugged an external monitor and I get the behaviour
described in the bug #537640.

One of the solution proposed for that bug is to execute the following
command in order to disable KMS:

echo options radeon modeset=0 /etc/modprobe.d/radeon-kms.conf

It worked for me and it seems that it solved also the problem mentioned
in this bug... The drawback of this solution is that the correct
solution at login is no longer detected. Anyway, all the rest (or at
least what I tried till now) works perfectly.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 575227] [NEW] display area shifted, mouse also affected

2010-05-04 Thread lirel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-nouveau

with a clean installed lucid on a hp dx 6050 desktop computer i get a somehow
shifted screen:
with a resolution of 1024x768 the left part of the display area is missing and
gets displayed at the right corner.
also the bottom parts is missing, but this doesn't get displayed at the top.
instead the first pixel from the top seem to be repeated ~30times. (see photo).

making screenshots doesn't show this behaviour.
anyway this doesn't seem to be related to a misconfigured monitor because the
mouse has it's active point in the vertical middle and horizontal left of the
mouse-icon.

when running xrandx the screen gets blanked for a short time.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 391445] Re: [i965] Graphics corruption with GM965 in Karmic

2010-05-04 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
This bug report has been inactive for quite some time and in the
meantime Ubuntu has moved along. I hope the reported problem has been
resolved in the current version of Ubuntu. If it has not and there are
people willing to follow up with information collecting and testing, it
is best to file a new bug report with the latest Ubuntu development
version (10.04 still works, but soon 10.10 is better), using the ubuntu-
bug command if possible. Feel free to mention the bug number of this
bug.

We are sorry that we are not always have the capacity to look at all
reported bugs in a timely manner. Occasionally we have to purge old bug
reports where no progress has been made, whether it is due to reporter
not being able to respond or lack of manpower on the Ubuntu side, in
order to keep our list of active bugs current. Sorry for the
inconvenience this may cause.

Here are a few tips that will make it easier for triagers and developers to
process your bug:
* Read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting
* Browse https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X and see if there is some relevant
information for you problem
* Respond quickly to questions from triagers
* Try changing things to see if the behaviour changes, e.g.
  * A new mainline kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D (more information at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds)
  * The xorg-edgers PPA: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa
  * Various options in `/etc/X11/xorg.conf` (see `man intel`)
* Browse other bug reports to see if you find a similar one and provide the
information that is being asked for there.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 570144] Re: [855GME] 2:2.9.1-3ubuntu5 causes slow 3d

2010-05-04 Thread Alan Hoyle
OK, so it seems that it's not 3d that's causing the issue. Two things
then:

1. the 2D launcher is ultra-slow under the 5 intel driver.

2. when I select to start the Netbook 2d launcher when I login via
the graphical login screen, it puts up a semi GNOME desktop instead of
just launching the same thing.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 462765] Re: [GM45] Detaching secondary monitor causes very slow X performance

* Read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting
* Browse https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X and see if there is some relevant
information for you problem
* Respond quickly to questions from triagers
* Try changing things to see if the behaviour changes, e.g.
  * A new mainline kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D (more information at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds)
  * The xorg-edgers PPA: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa
  * Various options in `/etc/X11/xorg.conf` (see `man intel`)
* Browse other bug reports to see if you find a similar one and provide the
information that is being asked for there.

2010-05-04 Thread Jeff

However, i still can use other terminal ( tty ) to log on as command

problem)

I did try to remove the xorg and reinstall again, but still the same.

Same Notebook, HP dx1000, Nvidea Gforce Go 6150.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 368083] Re: [i965q] Kubuntu jaunty xorg intel driver crashes

* Read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting
* Browse https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X and see if there is some relevant
information for you problem
* Respond quickly to questions from triagers
* Try changing things to see if the behaviour changes, e.g.
  * A new mainline kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D (more information at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds)
  * The xorg-edgers PPA: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa
  * Various options in `/etc/X11/xorg.conf` (see `man intel`)
* Browse other bug reports to see if you find a similar one and provide the
information that is being asked for there.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 573557] Re: nvidia-current 195.36.15 + kernel 2.6.32 + dual cards crashes system

2010-05-04 Thread Dax Marola
It...can...be...done!

This is what I did: installed Alberto's package through synaptic, but I had no
effects... and no xorg.conf.
The easy way: add Alberto's repository and then use jockey (Hardware drivers),
everything working as it should!

Thank you Alberto for the package! And thank you Daniel for the patch!

fixed it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 575195] [NEW] TV out image in black and white

2010-05-04 Thread palexv
Public bug reported:

I can get color screen on my TV, only white and black.

Some strange lines from log:
...
(**) RADEON(0): Option TVStandard NTSC
(**) RADEON(0): Option ATOMTVOut true
...
(II) RADEON(0): Default TV standard: NTSC
(II) RADEON(0): TV standards supported by chip: NTSC PAL
(EE) RADEON(0): Invalid TV Standard: NTSC
...
(II) RADEON(0): RandR 1.2 enabled, ignore the following RandR disabled message.
(WW) RADEON(0): Option TVFormat is not used
(WW) RADEON(0): Option TVOutFormat is not used

I dont understand:

1. Why Invalid TV Standard: NTSC? It is in the list of supported by
chip.

2. Why TVFormat and TVOutFormat are not used?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 441029] Re: [i855] kbd and mouse drivers are not installed

* Read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting
* Browse https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X and see if there is some relevant
information for you problem
* Respond quickly to questions from triagers
* Try changing things to see if the behaviour changes, e.g.
  * A new mainline kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D (more information at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds)
  * The xorg-edgers PPA: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa
  * Various options in `/etc/X11/xorg.conf` (see `man intel`)
* Browse other bug reports to see if you find a similar one and provide the
information that is being asked for there.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 544525] Re: [RV380] dual monitor not working - M24 1P [Radeon Mobility X600]

2010-05-04 Thread Olivier Goutet
I progress a little on the problem, I have now dual screen. But the
solution is not satisfying.

So I have two display:
1. my laptop 15 4:3 1400x1050 resolution
2. my external VGA monitor 22 16:10 1600x1050 resolution

* With the external screen unplugged, I set the laptop screen resolution to
1024x768
* I plugged the external monitor to my laptop and started the Monitor
Preferences. The external monitor is automatically detected with the correct
resolution.

If I try to change the laptop resolution, the two monitor get corrupted
as described by pixiesnoot. Even moving the external monitor from right
to left is not possible.

So I have now dual monitor, but not with the correct resolution...

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 437173] Re: [GM45] Bad resulution choice for mirror mode with two 16:10 displays

2010-05-04 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
While I agree that this could be better, this is not something we can fix in
ubuntu or just ask upstream to fix. Two possible approaches that may have some
chance of reaching the people who actually implement this:
- File a bug on bugs.freedesktop.org (Product: DRI, Component: DRM/intel)
- Join and and email the mailing list intel-...@freedesktop.org. Note that
emails from non-developers and especially those that are not to-the-point are
frequently ignored.

I'm closing this bug report.

meantime Ubuntu has moved along.

* Read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Reporting
* Browse https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X and see if there is some relevant
information for you problem
* Respond quickly to questions from triagers
* Try changing things to see if the behaviour changes, e.g.
  * A new mainline kernel from
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/?C=M;O=D (more information at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelTeam/MainlineBuilds)
  * The xorg-edgers PPA: https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa
  * Various options in `/etc/X11/xorg.conf` (see `man intel`)
* Browse other bug reports to see if you find a similar one and provide the
information that is being asked for there.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 557814] Re: [R350] Transient screen tearing/corruption/waviness in lucid when using KMS

2010-05-04 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi Scott,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

there is no more wacdump standard in wacom-tools for debugging purpose
in Lucid ?

Wacom-tools package disappear from synaptic but is still referenced as

Package wacom-tools is not available, but is referred to by another package.
This may mean that the package is missing, has been obsoleted, or

In Lucid Kubuntu Xorg crashes from time to time. Before Lucid this

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 575149] [NEW] external screen does not work consistently

2010-05-04 Thread Kai Aeberli
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When plugging in an external LCD Screen (LG Flatron L1915S) into my
Thinkpad R60 Laptop, it works only very inconsistently. What happens is
that the screen shows for a split-second and then goes dark.

This behaviour occurs sometimes when resuming from hibernation, or just
when hotplugging the screen. I even had it when booting up with the
screen connected. I am finding it difficult to pinpoint the exact
conditions of the error.

Further, when it does work, as soon as I plug in the external screen,
all desktop effects are disabled, and I have to enable them again. Also,
Desktop effects don't work when displaying on both screens.

The bug report command was run at a time where the external monitor was
working.
