[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 582206] Re: Ubuntu crashes and automatically logout
These two options are still deselected. It seems that the crash only occurs when I am using Firefox at a certain web site (idg.se). Yesterday I was able to reproduce the problem quickly, several times when I was surfing on this web site. Do not know if it could be that this web site is stressing my system more than other web sites have been using so far. Now I can see that something is printed on the screen a couple of seconds after the screen has gone black. Among other things, something about timidity was printed (see date and time: May 20 18:06:50 in the log below). Here follow a new excerpt. Anyone seeing anything suspicious? I should underline that the crash may not have occurred exactly during this excerpt. I will post a new and hopefully more precise log during the day. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 583676] [NEW] Resume with two displays gives scrambled pixels on only one display
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati I use two monitor connected via DVI. After suspend to ram and resume, the picture on only one display gets scrambled and unusable. Some Facts: - Everthing runs as expected, but the left display show a picture looking like every fourth pixel is displayed, and the ones in between have the values of their neighbor. The picture is updated and flickerfree. I can attach a foto if it helps.. - Taking a screenshot gives a normal picture. - Disabling KMS by passing radeon.modeset=0 to the kernel solves the problem. I attach 2 dmesg outputs of the resume sequence. Note that with modeset=0 [drm] Resetting GPU is output, while with KMS it is not. - It occurs only if using the 2 monitors in big desktop mode. - logging out an back in solves it - fglrx (i used it until lucid) had the same issue. It was silently fixed around version 10.2. - Hibernation doesn't work too. It ends up in gdm after resuming. Maybe X crashes, but thats another story. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 313514] Re: MASTER: evdev driver ignores keycodes 255
I made a quick fix for this problem. It's based on kbd's showkey that DOES show scancodes. It looks into configuration table and stuffs required keysyms into X via Xtst package. Ugly, buggy and setuid (to read console under X you have to be setuid), but it works (at least for me) and requires only installation of the deb package. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 574576] Re: lucid final hard freeze w/ screen garbling (suspect xorg crash)
Status update: Over the past week, I've experienced a hard freeze once more. Active apps were Firefox, System Monitor, Deluge torrent, and the gnome- screensaver. The freeze was triggered just after the gnome-screensaver kicked in, and i tried wakign the computer from the screensaver again with a mouse movement, at which point i found it to have been hard frozen, with the screensaver stuck on the first picture in the slideshow sequence. I noticed there was still harddisk (and LAN) activity from time to time due to an active bittorrent in the background. -- lucid final hard freeze w/ screen garbling (suspect xorg crash) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/574576 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

@the-analist-3d - thanks for providing that info, but we would like to see it from the original reporter. We may want to send this bug report upstream, but upstream has a hard and fast rule that logs from someone other than the original reporter are not acceptable. The reason for that is that quite often with X.org bug reports, two people may *think* they have the same issue based on commonality of symptoms and/or hardware, but in truth they have separate issues and mixing the report and the files can cause the developers some confusion.
