I added also-affects update-manager because this problem has clearly not
yet been fully resolved, despite the fix-released state on a number of
affected packages.

Hi Brain,

I have since run all available updates as of this email and I'm still
getting the application crash (Not that I can tell what it is/does),
Anything else I can submit to find out more?

Cheers

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 738600] [NEW] flash 10.2 plugin crashes when leaving full-screen with nvidia 270.30

2011-03-20 Thread Rocko
Public bug reported:

In Firefox, navigate to any flash video (eg on YouTube) and play it full
screen. Press ESC to exit full-screen, and it crashes - the Firefox tab
turns blank (black in FF 4, light grey in FF 3.6.15). Refreshing the
page will restart flash, but of course any flash videos that start in
full-screen mode can only be viewed in full-screen mode.

This only happens with the 270.30 beta nvidia driver - flash works fine
with the 260.19.44 stable driver. The same is true in Maverick (it works
with the stable driver but not the beta driver).

The current flashplugin-installer version is 10.2.152.27ubuntu1.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 696729] Re: Crash in _nv026629rm+0x44/0x176 [nvidia]

2011-03-20 Thread Magnus Hoff
Fix confirmed.

In other news, my nouveau drivers also stopped working, so I was
convinced I had a hardware problem. I haven't investigated the nouveau
issue any further.

Thank you. This is a huge load off my mind!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 738687] [NEW] R600 driver crashes when adding effects in kwin

2011-03-20 Thread Mikael Gerdin
Public bug reported:

Seen on a radeon mobility 5650.
When changing settings for kwin (the KDE window manager) it sometimes crashes
with the top of the stack trace in r600_dri.so
top of stack was at r600_bo - r600_buffer_create
Saw a suggestion in debian bug 612609 to try to cherry pick
63b9790a55038c262b57c846a5f7067ea33fc60f from mesa master.
Haven't seen the crash since.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 518938] Re: black screen on Intel HM55 - during boot and Xorg

2011-03-20 Thread Teej
This bug report is being closed since the original reporter no longer has this
issue. As stated a few times on this report, and many others (and in the bug
reporting guidelines); even if you have the same hardware, file another bug
report. It's better to have several bug reports with slightly different
problems and different machines than to mess around trying to sift through
several pages of rubbish to find one thing. If Bug Control or BugSquad find
that it is the same problem, it'll be marked as a duplicate and you'll be
subscribed to the master bug report.
Thank you.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 738789] [NEW] Ubuntu won't finish boot after nVidia proprietary driver install

2011-03-20 Thread Joaquín Ignacio Aramendía
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Followed these steps:
1. Fresh install of a daily build of Natty just updated (20/3/2011 1:30 pm
GMT-3)
2. Log in on Unity with no error from Xorg (GSettings crashed and reported bug
successfully).
3. Followed instructions on Installation test for nVidia Proprietary Drivers
Xorg Team
(http://testcases.qa.ubuntu.com/Hardware/X/ProprietaryDrivers#Installation)
4. When in the step of rebooting, loaded the kernel 2.6.38-7-generic in grub
and wait.
5. Ubuntu never got into GUI, not even into the command line as it used to. The
last version I tested this (and dumped in the CLI) was Maverick on kernel
2.6.35-28-generic on this machine.

It happens every time I want to install the driver.

Expected result:
GUI or CLI login prompt

Result:
Hang up shell with blinking underscore responsive only to return key to
new-line and ctr+alt+del to reboot.

I'll attach logs from kernel, xorg and xorg.conf if apport doesn't do
it.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 738790] [NEW] Screen splits when I move mouse to the top right-hand corner

2011-03-20 Thread John Roberts
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Every 30 or so logouts, when I move my pointer to the top right corner
to begin the shutdown sequence, my screen splits. This can most easily
be seen in the screen-shot that I have included. I'm using Ubuntu Gnome
10.10. This obviously renders my machine unusable until I reboot, which
is ok since it only happens when I am logging out anyways. =) Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 738750] Re: Unity fail to start

2011-03-20 Thread revoltism
Lol! Seams like the update uninstalled the xserver-xorg-video-ati
package. After reinstalling everything seams to be normal again.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 738718] Re: On DG45FC board the resolution is low, kernel related, it works till 2.6.36, 2.6.37 breaks things

2011-03-20 Thread Dave Gilbert
Well, if you're saying it's kernel version dependent it seems best to
assign it to the Linux package.

Could you include a dmesg /var/log/Xorg.0.log from both kernels

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 730877] Re: ctl-460: cursor gets stuck

2011-03-20 Thread Guigui357
exact same problem here.

I use the packages xserver-xorg-input-wacom and wacom-dkms from
ppa:doctormo/wacom-plus for some months without problems on Lucid.

updates came

grep -i wacom -R /var/log/dpkg.log
2011-03-03 19:59:48 upgrade xserver-xorg-input-wacom 1:0.10.6-0ubuntu6
1:0.10.11-0ubuntu7
2011-03-13 19:42:42 upgrade wacom-dkms 0.8.8-0ubuntu3 0.8.10.2-1ubuntu1

I hadn't used the table for a while, so I don't know when it stopped working.
I noticed the problem only today

Like for Chris, downgrading xserver-xorg-input-wacom to
1:0.10.5-0ubuntu4 (lucid) solved it.

so now
dpkg -l | grep wacom
ii wacom-dkms0.8.10.2-1ubuntu1
Wacom kernel driver in DKMS format
ii xserver-xorg-input-wacom 1:0.10.5-0ubuntu4
  X.Org X server -- Wacom input driver

I've just pinned xserver-xorg-input-wacom until the bug gets resolved
and a new version put on the ppa

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 735126] Re: [natty] system freezes on boot without disabling KMS

2011-03-20 Thread LGB [Gábor Lénárt]
No, and even no MAC address can be found in the ARP table, so I guess
networking is not on yet before the freeze, or so? Now there was an
update for kernel 2.6.38-7 (instead of -6) but the same problem. Btw,
it's nice to mention that magic sysreq keys seems to work (at least alt-
sysreq-b reboots the system) but I can't see any message (because of the
video mode on the console?) so it's not so useful, I've tried to sync,
unmount and reboot with the corresponding magic sysreq combos, but
still, after I boot with maverick's kernel, still there is no sign of
_any_ log message of the natty's kernel, or xorg logs at all what I
would be able to send you. So I have no idea how this problem can be
reported with more info, maybe network console can be useful, but I've
only read about that, I haven't ever tried to use it yet ... Is it worth
to try?
