[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 740655] [NEW] Incorrect colour map for xv on radeon driver
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-ati XV video output with the radeon driver (at least I assume it is a driver problem) produces incorrectly coloured video output. The effect can be seen from the gstreamer-properties application by selecting both xv and no xv options in the video tab and clicking 'test'. I'll attach screen shots of the good and bad output. Hi, in the past couple weeks we've put in several fixes to common freeze bugs. I don't recognize the error codes for this one, so am not sure whether it was fixed or not. You had mentioned that you'd been seeing this lockup quite frequently. *** This bug is a duplicate of bug 556782 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/556782 This started happening to me recently and I'm relating it to two distinct factors: firstly, no cpu scaling in ubuntu which means the cpu gets hotter and so does the gpu; secondly, the weather's getting a bit hotter here in Portugal so I guess the gfx card's saying bye bye... I'm still ubuntunizing but I'm planning my return to windows :( I've changed some settings in a modded bios ( see http://forum.notebookreview.com/acer/480992-acer-laptop-phoenix-bios- bios-mod-request-108.html ) and reduced the gfx core to 200mhz and everything to do with voltage. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665546] Re: Drop and sub menus don't always show up
Add me to the list as well. Amd64 10.10, Compiz and Nvidia drivers. Menus and drop downs randomly don't display on first activation unless you move the pointer over the screen area where the menu should be and then it appears, subsequent activations work as expected. I have seen the problem as far back as 9.04 (Amd64, Compiz & Nvidia), although mainly with the Firefox 'awsome bar' occasionally not showing matching previous entries as I type a URL. If I clicked outside firefox and then back to it the problem goes away for a while, I still get this occasionally today on 10.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/665546 Title: Drop and sub menus don't always show up ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Ok, so wacom is the only driver which supports proper rotation, evdev and synaptics only support switching the axis around. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 665546] Re: Drop and sub menus don't always show up
I have this problem too - even on web pages with dropdown menus. I've had this problem for a long time, definitely in Ubuntu 10.04 as well as 10.10 but then I get the latest unstable updates so may have gotten whatever was causing the problem early while still using 10.04. I don't use compiz. I had the problem with compositing turned on for metacity, and also with mutter that I use now. I've had this problem on 3 different computers, all using the proprietary Nvidea driver. I also have a problem with office applications not always displaying the window when opened. Specifically Open Office (now using Libra Office and still have the same problem) and also GnuCash. Usually works fine the first time I start one of these apps after logging in, but if close the app and try to open it again a while later, nothing shows up. I have to kill the process from System Monitor and then try to open it again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 560433] Re: [clarkdale] Xorg freeze
I'm also seeing the freeze and the errors posted by Marcello Romani. I have Intel DH57JG board with i5 650 processor. Nothing else on the board (using the integrated graphics). Using Ubuntu 10.10 and 2.6.35-28-generic. This issue progressed for me to the point where it would occur very frequently and even when only booted into BIOS. Intel suspected a board problem and replaced it but I'm still seeing the issue, though not as frequently with the new board. I've only had the replacement about a month so time will tell if the performance degrades again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 727620] Re: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Driver crash during recovery boot and in normal boot (Regression from 2.6.38-3 to -4)
I have a theory... Maybe there is a race condition between the intel and ati driver involved here? My notebook starts up in two seemingly random configurations, or three including the radeon crash: 1. X server is on VT8 -> unable to unload radeon module because it is in use (by some framebuffer I guess). I am also unable to switch to consoles VT1-7. If I use vga_switcheroo to switch to integrated gpu in this mode then radeon crashes. 2. X server is on VT7 -> I can unload the radeon module and use the consoles VT1-6. vga_switcheroo works and I can also use acpi calls to turn off the gpu. 3. The radeon driver crashes. Forcing reboot through RSEIUB. This makes it difficult to control the temperature since I cannot know if the radeon module is in use or not (i.e. I might or might not be able to use the vga_switcheroo, or unload the module and use a specific acpi call to shut of the gpu). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-ati in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/727620 Title: [Radeon HD 5650 and 5470] Driver crash during recovery boot and in normal boot (Regression from 2.6.38-3 to -4) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 740387] Re: graphical corruption with multiple drivers and classic desktop
Even though it may look the same, let's handle the issue on the -intel box here and the -nvidia issue on a separate bug report (different upstreams, etc.) Are both of the attached screenshots for the -intel box? In the first screenshot I notice overlapped icons and a black smudge over the trashcan. Is it just the latter which you consider to be corruption, or both? ** Description changed: Binary package hint: xorg When using classic desktop, I am seeing graphical corruption from incorrect damage handling. This happens on my Thinkpad T61 with binary nvidia driver, and my Thinkpad T510 with the intel driver. It happens with the classic desktop when using metacity, I don't think I could see it when using compiz. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 717114] Re: [i945gm] Screen Corruption with new Xorg stack with terminal programs
Closing as fixed since the linux task is closed, and has been validated by several people. If others are still seeing text corruption issues, it's likely there is are multiple rendering bugs going on, or else that there is something hardware-specific going on. In either case, best next action for you is to file a new bug (you can file against xorg if you want, although like this one they may technically be kernel bugs.) Include a screenshot or photo showing the corruption. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu Natty) Status: Triaged => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/717114 Title: [i945gm] Screen Corruption with new Xorg stack with terminal programs ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
