[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 743408] Re: [sandybridge-gt1] GPU lockup (IPEHR: 0x02000004)

2011-03-28 Thread kvdveer
I was just hit by this one as well.
For me, this was triggered by watching the Dr. WHO preview on this page, and
clicking the fullscreen option.
http://weblog.fok.nl/viewSingleItem/35203/Doctor-Who%3A-een-voorproefje.htm

The screen froze, but the system kept operating as usual. I used
ctrl+alt+f1 to open a terminal to investigate the problem and trigger a
reboot. I was also able to switch back and forth to the (still frozen) x
session.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 367941] Re: 3D acceleration broken on Sony Vaios with dual graphics adapters

2011-03-28 Thread Michael Doube
I stopped caring about a fix for this since I almost always use the
Intel adapter these days. But, while testing a new HDTV I was fiddling
with different modes and find that this bug still exists for Ubuntu
10.10, and reverting is the same as in the description (manual
extraction and copying of library).

Most ugly is the broken failsafe graphics at this problem, you only have
a working console to fix something. Here with a juniper 5750 the
failsafe graphis is restarting in an endless loop.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 621756] Re: Monitor Detection Problem in upgrade to 10.04.1

2011-03-28 Thread Christopher
Hello,

With some embarrasment I must confess that this particular problem was
seemingly solved some time ago by a to-me-unknown-at-the-moment Ubuntu
update for 10.10. I have for some time now have had no visible display
signs of the settings being incorrect.

I did run 'apport-collect 621756' and have sent the report within the
application.

I do force the vesa driver as this is sufficient for my purposes and I
did not want to bother with MGA drivers.

Attached is xorg.log.

Thank you and others for their efforts on my behalf. I must say I am
so glad to have left Windows (to 90%) behind me for Ubuntu.

If I should add to the problem report in launchpad please let me know.

Regards,
Christopher Keller

Thanks for your report. The log shows the vesa driver in use, and the
EDID transferred seems ok. Can you please attach an Xorg log from the
mga driver? Please also run apport-collect 621756 to have other
 information added.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 713864] Re: Black screen with nouveau on a GeForce 8600M GT, either LiveCD or fresh install

2011-03-28 Thread Jeremy Foshee
Hi Mathieu,

If you could also please test the latest upstream kernel available that would
be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue.
Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the
upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be
done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the
bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text.
Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you
inappropriately; please just reply to this message indicating so.]

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 744324] [NEW] can't drive Del U3100 monitor at native resolution

2011-03-28 Thread josh rabinowitz
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I just got a Dell U3011 monitor, which has a native resolution of 2560 x
1600, but I can only get the nVidia drivers to drive it at 1600x1200.

The built-in drivers (not the proprietary nVidia ones) don't even seem to
recognize the monitor as a U3100.
Let me know if you have any questions.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 727112] Re: nvidia-current does not detect hardware capabilities correctly

2011-03-28 Thread Daniel Knittl-Frank
new symptom: last week i had a projector plugged in while booting into
ubuntu. when i went home i only put my computer to sleep. when using my
monitor at home i was then able to run both monitors in full resolution
(nvidia-settings was still thinking the projector was plugged in, it
would not recognize my monitor)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 744355] [NEW] compiz crash reports not always tagged with compiz version

2011-03-28 Thread Brian Murray
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

Occasionally compiz crashes and so apport reports a bug about the crash
but the compiz version tag is not added to the bug report. This happens
because in attach_3d_info there is a check to see if compiz is running,
which it isn't because it crashed, so the tag is not added. There
should probably be an additional check to see if the report is a crash
report and if the source package is compiz so that the tag an be
properly added.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 621756] Re: Monitor Detection Problem in upgrade to 10.04.1

2011-03-28 Thread Tormod Volden
I am not sure if I understand correctly, the mga bug went away but you
keep using vesa anyway, or there was a bug also with vesa previously?

Anyway, I'll close the bug if you are happy with how things are. If you
need to or feel like reopening it at a later point, please attach the
log from when using the default mga driver. This can also be useful if
someone else reports similar problems.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 744379] [NEW] Two mouse cursors on multihead

2011-03-28 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

When I installed the nouveau driver including Gallium 3D from an
experimental PPA repository, I now have two cursors, one on each monitor
of my dualhead setup. It is about 90% reproducible if I move the cursor
fast from one monitor to the other, then an old (inactive) copy stays on
the old monitor.

May be a problem in nouveau as it started happening when I switched from
NVidia binary blob to nouveau.

Ubuntu version: Ubuntu Natty (development branch)
version of xserver-xorg-video-nouveau:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 744408] [NEW] [natty] screen flickering upon resume from hibernate on 945GME

2011-03-28 Thread Ярослав Почернин
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

Screen starts flickering upon resume from hibernate on Toshiba NB100
(Ubuntu Certified) with Intel Corporation Mobile 945GME Express
Integrated Graphics Controller (rev 03). It makes the whole system
unusable. There were no problems in Maverick, so I may consider it a
regression.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 730476] Re: Part of the time appears cut off when displaying the day of the week and date

2011-03-28 Thread David Barth
It more sounds like a formatting problem that makes the indicator extend
outside the limits of it's requested display area. Indicators can
provide a template to help the panel allocate space for the worst case
scenario. But in this case, it seems it outran the XX:XX template.
