[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 779750] [NEW] Multiple Monitor Causes Partial Freeze
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg When I plug in my external monitor after boot and then go to Preferences - Monitors my system has a partial freeze, everything becomes laggy, mouse is unresponsive, can't go back into monitors to change the configuration. Problem also occurs when I use xrandr command in terminal. If I reboot with the external monitor plugged in the setup works fine, but then if I go into monitors and change anything (ie. primary monitor or resolution), the problems occur again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 756237] Re: wxRuby crashes with segmentation fault in pixman_image_composite32
I've found out what causes this bug; I found this bug not in wxRuby, but in wxLua---but its the same bug, using pixman 0.20.0 seems to fix it. The offending commit (after trying each commit from 0.20.0 to 0.20.2 is: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/pixman/commit/?h=0.20id=6718621c62ef03d1dd71c34242a873aba798e8aa Yes, its a fix that broke it :P. After going through what it does, it basically enables support for __thread if the compiler supports it, and in this case gcc *does* support it. However, it looks like there's either a bug with the gcc __thread implementation, or how pixman uses __thread. Previously, such functionality looks like it would have defaulted to a pthread implementation. Looks like this needs to be pushed upstream (somewhere), because the same bug exists up to the current HEAD and disabling __thread support fixes it. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to pixman in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/756237 Title: wxRuby crashes with segmentation fault in pixman_image_composite32 ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 565697] Re: nvidia dual monitor seperate x server mouse cursor gets stuck
This is similar to the issues that I have had since applying a security update last week to Maverick. After the update cause significant instability of the overall system, I was finally forced to upgrade to Natty. Now I cannot get use of the second monitor in any satisfactory manner. With Xinerama I see nothing more than a mirror of Monitor 0. No functionality on Monitor 1 at all. Without Xinerama, I cannot drag windows to Monitor 0 as I need to do, and I have to resort to using the dock on both monitors. And the larger second display, Monitor 1, renders only the image of the primary display at the same size, i.e. only 1280x800 of the larger monitor is used. With TwinView there is very poor experience for two different resolutions. And I find this setup useless. With upgrades like this I might just have t remain using Windoze XP Despite its lackluster performance. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/565697 Title: nvidia dual monitor seperate x server mouse cursor gets stuck ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

For example, with the default background in Lubuntu ( /usr/share/lubuntu/wallpapers/lubuntu-default-wallpaper.png ), background set by default via pcmanfm looks like it is being viewed in 256 color, rather than 16 or 24 bit. The same wallpaper, same file/size, used by lxdm (LXDE Desktop Manager) looks absolutely fine at login stage, but not on the background which is set by pcmanfm, which one sees once logged in. # ls -l /usr/share/lxdm/themes/Lubuntu/wall.png -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 264722 2011-01-16 20:03 /usr/share/lxdm/themes/Lubuntu/wall.png # ls -l /usr/share/lubuntu/wallpapers/lubuntu-default-wallpaper.png -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 264722 2011-01-16 20:03 /usr/share/lubuntu/wallpapers/lubuntu-default-wallpaper.png The same banding issue appears when opening the files in GPicView. However, it looks absolutely fine in `feh` (image viewer/background setter), in gimp, and in firefox4. The behavior is not specific to these backgrounds, as I've looked at several other wallpapers w/ gradients that are supposed to look fine, and the issue persists with the said applications (pcmanfm, GPicView). The behavior is also not specific to the laptop's (1024x768) LCD screen, as I've connected a Samsung LCD (SyncMaster 920NW) to the laptop and seen the same exact degree of gradient-color-banding on it as well. Upon further testing, the issue is exacerbated when I set the DefaultDepth 24 in xorg.conf (and 24bpp depth confirmed from Xorg log). That is, after stop/start lxdm - which was okay at 16bpp - it would then show the severe banding/striping of gradient colors as well. This lead me to believe is not an application specific bug, but an issue with xorg's neomagic video driver. Regardless of using a custom xorg.conf or conf-less Xorg (which defaults to 16bpp depth), the issue remains. I've tried disabling various neomagic-specific acceleration options (as detailed in `man neomagic`) one by one, tried disabling acceleration altogether, tried starting X with and without neofb framebuffer-console driver loaded (though I cannot use Option ShadowFB - which is disabled by default - in xorg.conf because I get blank screen with it enabled when neofb is also loaded.) Tried using DirectColor rather than TrueColor for the screen's visual, but that does not really work correctly on this chipset (neither in 16 or 24 bit depth). ** Affects: xserver-xorg-video-neomagic (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-neomagic in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/780074 Title: [neomagic] Gradient color banding/striping on Dell Latitude CPt/CPx ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 778083] Re: Switching workspaces does not always redraw everything necessary
More corruption, not only window borders. I've attached an image where part of a pop-up-context-menu in Thunderbird is not being drawn. Another thing: when the corruption happens in the Gnome Panel, as in the image that I've already attached in #5, it's the actual desktop background that gets displayed instead of the Gnome Panel. In the example image of #5, it looks black, but choosing another background reveals that it's the background that's being displayed instead of the Gnome Panel. ** Attachment added: Part of the popup-context-menu in Thunderbird is missing https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/778083/+attachment/2121599/+files/Missing%20part%20of%20menu.png -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/778083 Title: Switching workspaces does not always redraw everything necessary ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
