[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 782004] [NEW] Keyboard hangs after holding down shift
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I am using Gnome 3 shell on Natty. After holding down shift for some time, the keyboard stops responding (every key that I press produces a beep - even shift etc). My accessibility features are all turned off. No dialog or notification appears on the screen. Closing applications does not work. The only option is to log off and log in again. I think I am having this same issue. Reported it here https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video- intel/+bug/779163 Its totally random but occurs when I either on a video call with skype or watching video with vlc. I don't know if it helps but the first time I got this issue was when I used kernel 2.6.38 on ubuntu 10.10 (which shipped with the kernel 2.6.35) so it might be a kernel issue? also a friend who runs gentoo confirmed to me he is running same issues and he too is on 2.6.38. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/769977 Title: Sudden video crash on intel chipset ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781983] [NEW] Screen becomes corrupted under normal usage
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel After upgrading to natty the screen is now sometimes corrupted. I can't trigger this with a fixed set of steps yet but it happens most when switching virtual desktops, coming back from suspend or connecting or disconnecting an external monitor. It cleans up completely by switching to the text console and back. A screenshot is attached of when this happens. The corruption is always of the form of something not having been refreshed/drawn in, never that there is something out of place. So sometimes google chrome will lose some of its decorations or a window won't fully show up after having been alt-tabbed in. For windows, giving them focus usually causes a redraw that fixes the corruption. For the panel any element used gets refreshed but the empty portions will only be refreshed with a vt switch. I'm using the classic gnome desktop without compositing. I've noticed it in google chrome's decorations a lot and that does it's own drawing so it could be related. I filed this under the intel driver but it could be a core xserver bug. Would trying unity on the same system help narrow down the issue? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 753144] Re: focused, or maximized windows blank
I have this issue on a desktop using an integrated GeForce 6150SE nForce 430, using the current NVidia proprietary driver. I tried the workaround discussed above for increasing the frame buffer size in my BIOS settings (from 64MB to 128MB in my case), and it worked for me. Between this and wireless not wanting to work on my desktop, this is the most hardware-related trouble I've had with Ubuntu in a long time. But I do like Unity, which runs with no problems on my laptop with Intel graphics. Hoping this gets fixed soon. ** Attachment added: "nvidia-bug-report.log.gz" https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/753144/+attachment/2126164/+files/nvidia-bug-report.log.gz -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/753144 Title: focused, or maximized windows blank ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I did it. I worked, now I have the right message: "This driver is activated and currently in use" and I can use the new interface. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met
It would be nice if the "do you want to upgrade" window wouldn't come up until a nvidia-96 driver is available. I upgraded my Mythbuntu system because it kept periodically putting the "do you want to upgrade" window on my screen. Because I don't really have a mouse hooked up to my system, I have to go to another system to run xvncviewer to get rid of the upgrade window. I eventually upgraded to get rid of the window. Now that I've upgraded, my system is hosed because nvidia-96 isn't available and I can't seem to get nouveau to use 60Hz. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/741930 Title: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112] Re: [arrandale] desktop is messed up (goes black) when laptop is docked with two external 1920x1200 monitors (x86_64)
In Natty 32bit with Unity when I plug in a beamer, the beamer is recognized, and you can see the panel at the top, but not the wallpaper, so the rest is black. Putting windows via drag and drop to the beamers side makes me see the grabbing hand cursor, but not the window itself. Changing Resolution on each screen makes no difference. As I see if you have laptop with "right" graphic card - Ubuntu is not for you :( Sorry, I'm not that clever to solve this problem, but I've tried to search for people who could fix this. As you see the result is nothing. As I understand the only way to run Ubuntu if you have the "right" card - is to roll back to 2.6.32 linux kernel (linux-headers & linux-image). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 781402] Re: Ubuntu 11.04 / Unity freezing when screen is 'woken up'
I have the same exact problem. I've installed Ubuntu 11.04 about 4 times, and each time I've experienced the same issue. Every time I leave my computer idle long enough for the display to go to sleep, it freezes on the screensaver when I "awaken" it. All I am able to do is move the cursor. I'm on an ASUS Essentio Series CM5570 desktop computer. I've noticed the original poster is also using an ASUS, but a different model. I am somewhat suspecting it could be an issue with the hardware, but I'm not sure. However, I have also noticed that when I use "Blank Screen" for screensaver choice, the freezing does not occur upon awakening the display. I hope this narrows it down a bit. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 698121] Re: xf86OpenConsole: VT_WAITACTIVE failed: Interrupted system call
Andres, Although I did nothing 'cause I knew nothing to do to resolve this bug, in my case it was resolved merely by installing all required and suggested updates to my system. Other than doing that I can offer no suggestions or steps to resolve your issue other than the suggestions offered me by the experts. I would mention that using another browser other than the Firefox default substantially increased the delta time between failures. And; although very imprecise, the more sluggish my system got the more likely it was going to fail soon, so if I was doing coding or the like, when I noticed the sluggishness, I rebooted which gave me a fresh start. However, after awhile, I gave up on that and started doing my coding on my production server; a decidedly risky but fortunately temporary solution. Best of Luck with your problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 124406] Re: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat
As I mentioned earlier, this was on the agenda for the xserver wishlist bugs session at UDS, and was discussed yesterday. From reviewing the current status of the bug here and upstream, there seems to be a legitimate issue in general, however the general fix for this (e.g. Ajax's branch) are not things we would want to risk pulling in as a backport, nor something of high enough importance for the ubuntu x team to invest time into, so for these reasons we're closing the issue as a wontfix at this time. However, we are concerned about the cases where specific hardware is significantly broken (as several have described in recent comments). But these issues are difficult to analyze and work on within the context of this particular bug report. For users with issues that need deeper investigation, please file a NEW bug using this command: $ ubuntu-bug xorg It would be helpful if you can reference bug 124406, and include the word 'keyboard' in the title so it gets autofiled predictably. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Won't Fix -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/124406 Title: Keyboard keys get stuck and repeat ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 780961] Re: Natty Xorg crashes on Thinkpad X201 (i915 driver) during screen updates
... or apparently not a dupe. I have the updated package installed already (and have all along). And I see "no error state collected" in /sys/kernel/debug/dri/0/i915_error_state. I'm still getting segfaults a few times per day though. :( The only theory I've got is that sawfish may be sending X11 requests in a different order sometimes, and may trigger a completely different Xorg bug. I really have no clue though. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/780961 Title: Natty Xorg crashes on Thinkpad X201 (i915 driver) during screen updates ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
