You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I run 11.10 from live CD both monitors displayed in mirror mode. Went to system settings/Display, unchecked Mirror Displays. Selected to use additional proprietary software. Additional software showed NVIDIA Accelerated Graphics driver (version 173) was installed. Tried (post- release updates)(version 173-update) and (version current) and (post-release updates)(version current-updates) to no avail. Had similar problem at 9.04. Found solution in forum. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 805303] Re: Gtk-CRITICAL **: IA__gtk_widget_style_get: assertion `GTK_IS_WIDGET (widget)' failed with the default qt4 gui
Le 17/10/2011 17:01, EricDHH a écrit : Yes that's it, my suggestion is a script that clears out this config by update. Thanks! Unfortunately we can't do that automatically: packages are not allowed to modify user configuration files at upgrade. My guess on what goes wrong is that when vlc was started with versions of qt and gtk older than the ones I mentioned, it stored a huge window size before dying. Now that it is started again, it tries to resize the window to the stored size and dies again. I don't think the config file can go wrong for stable-only users (ie users who did not use vlc with qt and gtk from Oneiric alpha or beta) so that should limit the affected users to people who are more computer-savvy and can find this bug report. Public bug reported: After upgrading to oneiric, X has been crashing at the login screen after turning on my computer. This happens often, but not all the time. Sometimes it seems to crash rather quickly, and other time it crashes when I try to login. After it crashes, I usually just restart my computer and it works fine then. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877010] [NEW] Keyboard freezes at random
You have been subscribed to a public bug: My keyboard freezes at random or gets stuck on repeated input. I started with a clean install of 11.04, had the problem form the beginning and it persisted when I upgraded to 11.10. I use a desktop PC and my keyboard is a plain PS2 type. My mouse that is USB never freezes. I made a script on my desktop so I can run it to collect some log files when the problem occurred. Sure enough, I caught some errors but I have no idea how to fix this. I'm not really an advanced linux user, so I attach these logs in the hope that some of you might help me out. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 837456] Re: [Oneiric] XTestFakeKeyEvent changes keyboard mapping to 'us'
This appears to affect anything which uses XTestFakeKeyEvent. For example, I use KeePassX, a password database with auto-type functionality (apparently implemented with XTestFakeKeyEvent). My keyboard is set to United Kingdom, yet when I use auto-type with (for example) a username including an ampersand (some...@somewhere.org) the ampersand becomes a double-quote (i.e. it enters someonesomewhere.org instead - the double-quote on a US keyboard is where the ampersand is on a UK keyboard). From reading a couple of forum posts it would appear Synergy (a cross-platform keyboard/mouse sharing application) is affected as well. The setxkbmap workaround mentioned in the report fixes the issue temporarily for KeePassX (and apparently Synergy), but it would be nice to have something more permanent. I first noticed this with Oneiric (auto-type worked fine under Lucid, Maverick and Natty). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/837456 Title: [Oneiric] XTestFakeKeyEvent changes keyboard mapping to 'us' To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/837456/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 876711] Re: Screen brightness resets to minmized when screen turns off
@Bobik-s, and others experiencing this problem... Thanks for reporting this issue. This PPA supplies an installable gnome-settings-daemon package with the patch applied: https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/+archive/gnome-settings-daemon Please add that PPA to your system, log out and then back in again so that it takes effect, then check your backlight behavior. Happening to me too. I upgraded from 11.04 and I cannot make X start anymore. My Nvidia is a GeForceM GT. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877686] [NEW] [Latitude E6510] External DisplayPort does not work with Nouveau driver
Public bug reported: Testing Oneiric on the E6510. During testing, attempted to connect a monitor using the system's external DisplayPort video port. The system was running nouveau. This port is completely inoperative with nouveau driver. (it's also inop with nvidia_current). The logs may indicate that the system is using nvidia rather than nouveau, that is because I tested this with nouveau, then installed nvidia_current to verify the behaviour and that's what's currently installed and running. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 768893] Re: System crashes when cdemu is present
It's been 1 month and no answer so based on the fact that removing the cdemu daemon remedied the problem, I'm going to presume it was a vhba issue and most likely already fixed upstream (current version works fine on kernel 3.0.0 or prior). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877682] [NEW] [Latitude E6510] External Video inoperative with nVidia current
Public bug reported: During testing of Oneiric on the Latitude E6510 I tried both external VGA and DisplayPort using the nvidia driver after installing nvidia_current via Jockey and rebooting the machine. Neither external port worked using the nVidia driver.
