[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 952574] Re: Ubuntu 12.04 beta 1 won't boot off USB key with NVidia GTX 560
Still haven't got this working but here is some more information I've discovered. GeForce GTX 560 code name = NVCE (GF114) NVC0 family: These cards are generally working with the latest kernel and Mesa but may still have power management issues. It is recommended to use the Linux 3.1 kernel or newer (or a backported driver from this kernel). NVC0 is supposed to be currently working with nouveau drivers. (http://nouveau.freedesktop.org/wiki/FeatureMatrix) It seems that a firmware file (?) might be required but from Linux 3.1 onwards it can be generated automatically. http://www.h-online.com/open/features/What-s-new-in-Linux-3-1-1347364.html -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/952574 Title: Ubuntu 12.04 beta 1 won't boot off USB key with NVidia GTX 560 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-nouveau/+bug/952574/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 742425] Re: GPU lockup (IPEHR: 0xf9b7b7b7) prior to gdm greeter
Merelin, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue using the new xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.14.0-4ubuntu6 package? If so, can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/ . If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications-Accessories-Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report. apport-collect -p linux replace-with-bug-number Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results. Thanks in advance. ** Changed in: linux (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/742425 Title: GPU lockup (IPEHR: 0xf9b7b7b7) prior to gdm greeter To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linux/+bug/742425/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 963798] [NEW] No visible desktop with radeon 3D driver in Precise
Public bug reported: I have just updated a Oneiric desktop to Precise. I can run a desktop if I login with a Unity 2D but not with 3D. The mouse pointer apears with a black background and Xorg.log shows errors (EE) RADEON(0): [DRI2] DRI2SwapInterval: bad drawable The graphics card is a Radeon 5770. Note, using a different drive, I had installed fresh image and it was all working fine, but this upgrade to Precise has left the Unity 3D environment in a non-functioning state for graphics. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 949097] Re: Serial Wacom Tablet touch not initalized when logged in
After a recent update, I have observed possibly similar behavior (but I'm not sure what fails means from the bug description). On a ThinkPad x200t, the pen works fine after login, but touch is in relative mode, no matter what the setting in the Wacom configuration. Even after setting absolute mode using xsetwacom, a sleep or logout/login will reset the touch device to relative. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/949097 Title: Serial Wacom Tablet touch not initalized when logged in To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-wacom/+bug/949097/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 963811] Re: libreoffice impress crashes xubuntu session
mathume, thank you for reporting this and helping make Ubuntu better. However, your crash report is missing. Please follow these instructions to have apport report a new bug about your crash that can be dealt with by the automatic retracer. One may execute at the Terminal: sudo apt-get -y install xserver-xorg-core-dbg libgl1-mesa-dri-dbg xserver-xorg-video-mach64-dbg xserver-xorg-video-r128-dbg xserver-xorg-video-nouveau-dbg xserver-xorg-video-intel-dbg xserver-xorg-video-ivtv-dbg xserver-xorg-video-geode-dbg xserver-xorg-video-amd-dbg xserver-xorg-video-radeon-dbg xserver-xorg-video-ati-dbg xserver-xorg-video-openchrome-dbg sudo service apport start force_start=1 If you are running the Ubuntu Stable Release you might need to enable apport in /etc/default/apport and restart. Now reproduce the crash, then open your file manager, navigate to your /var/crash directory and open the crash report you wish to submit. If this fails you will have to open a terminal and file your report with 'ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash' where _my_crash_report.crash is the crash you would like to report. If you get an error that you aren't allowed to access this report you will have to file it with 'sudo ubuntu-bug /var/crash/_my_crash_report.crash'. I'm closing this bug report since the process outlined above will automatically open a new bug report which can then dealt with more efficiently. Thanks in advance for your cooperation and understanding. ** Package changed: libreoffice (Ubuntu) = xorg (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: New = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/963811 Title: libreoffice impress crashes xubuntu session To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/963811/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I'm still having the problem. It worked temporarily when I ran “synclient ClickFinger3=2”. It's gone again when I reboot, which unfortunately is never very long without a working suspend. Strangely enough, just once during this current session I saw right- click work. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 963940] [NEW] Severe rendering glitches on HP EliteBook 2540p (i915)
Public bug reported: After the upgrade to Ubuntu 12.04, many rendering glitches started to appear in the UI: - the shadows appear to be painted over and over without redrawing things under it, so they eventually completely obscure the things below them; for example, the top panel will obscure the firefox tabbar, and mosuing over Dash will cause the shadows to become completely black - there are transient 'gaps' in the launcher, ocyping roughly 1/3 of its height, where it is not rendered at all; the borders of the gaps are flickering and dynamic. a similar glitch happens in Dash - the translucent background of the launcher is sometimes painted several times, so it appears darker than normal - the top panel sometimes flickers These issues do not make the system completely unusable, but complicate its use, especially the shadow problem. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 957699] Re: [bcm5974] Right-click no longer working
Ah! I think I'm getting a handle on this. I think the right-click must have gotten more sensitive to movement during the attempt to click. Right-click works sometimes now, but I have to hold both my fingers really really still as I push down the trackpad. This is compounded by another problem I've been having, where right- clicking in a scrollable pane (usually Nautilus or Chromium) causes the pane to scroll up by a certain, seemingly fixed distance just before the click takes effect. So I often end up right-clicking on the wrong link, wrong file etc. This happens even if I'm very careful to hold my fingers still, but it only happens once. If I right-click again in the same pane, even if there's plenty of room left to scroll, it doesn't jump again. Maybe this movement is also upsetting right-click attempts. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/957699 Title: [bcm5974] Right-click no longer working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/957699/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 963953] [NEW] Massive white bar across screen
Public bug reported: I'm not sure if this is an xorg issue or possibly a Chromium issue, but I'm playing it safe with xorg for now. In the last couple weeks -- and I'm not sure after which update -- a massive white horizontal bar has been appearing across my screen at random moments, and it doesn't go away. The desktop still functions and I can use the mouse, but this massive white bar covers most everything and I can't see what's happening. This seems to be a software issue, not a hardware issue. The only thing I can be sure of is that it happens when trying to complete some kind of function, and I think it happens when logging in to web sites, and possibly when using Chromium. I know it happened when I had a student logging in to his university Collab page in Chromium, and it happened to me today when logging in to LastPass in Chromium. However, it's happened to me at least 5 or 6 times in the past two weeks. The obvious thing would be to try a different Chromium, but I'm curious if this has happened to anyone else, and it still seems to be an xorg issue, even if triggered when using Chromium. I've attached a screenshot. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 794992] [NEW] System Freeze and Resolution Problem when Opening Game in Full Screen (Natty)
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Ubuntu 11.04 Natty Narwhal, both Ubuntu (Unity) and Ubuntu Classic (GNOME) session. Linux Kernel: 2.6.38-8 Opening game in full screen sometimes makes the system freeze (in other words, it is sometimes successfully opened and playable). The music of the game still runs, but the screen hangs. I am still able to exit the game through Esc key or other keyboard action depending on the game, but after the game exits and the screen looks normal, the system is still unusable. I can move the cursor, but clicking anything doesn't have any effects. It also happens when switching from windowed to full screen mode. Another problem is that the full screen games open in an unmatched ratio to my screen resolution (1280x800), leaving the black area on the left and right sides. Game tested: - Frozen Bubble - Powermanga - Njam Specs: - Intel Celeron CPU 550 @ 2.00GHz - 1GB of RAM - Mobile GM965/GL960 Integrated Graphics Controller Updated the graphic drivers from ppa:xorg-edgers/ppa and the kernel to 2.6.39 from ppa:kernel-ppa/ppa but it still happens. I tested some older kernels from Lucid and Maverick repository: 2.6.32-30 (Lucid) 2.6.32-32 (Lucid) 2.6.35-25 (Lucid) 2.6.35-28 (Maverick) 2.6.32-20 and 2.6.32-22 works well as I experienced in Lucid, but it brings the same problem that I experienced in Lucid: opening a full screen game while playing music makes the music lags for a moment. Inoe, thank you for reporting this bug and helping make Ubuntu better. This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If so, do you have compiz enabled? Does the issue go away if you disable it? Could you please collect a GPU dump after reproducing the bug? Packages to install and directions for doing this are available at: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/Freeze#How%20to%20Get%20a%20Batchbuffer%20Dump%20(-intel%20only) With the GPU dump in hand, we will be able to upstream this bug. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 802026] [NEW] Booting results in flickering screen
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Brand New Alienware M17xR3 with Intel i915 IGP, and NVIDIA GT 460M video. New, Clean installation of Kubuntu 11.04. When booting up, and BEFORE Xorg starts, the video mode switches and the video on the screen flickers and switches rapidly between colors as it flickers. No text or graphics are visible on the screen after that, just the flickering. Disabling modeset for intel (kernel command line parameter i915.modeset=0) stops the flickering and I get to a desktop. When doing this, screen resolution is wrong and vgaswitcheroo is disabled, but at least the computer is functional.
