A year and a half later and this bug persists. I figured out that I was using the wrong option. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 962958] Re: Touchpad in macbook pro gets clicked all the time randomly when typing
I think I found the problem. While figuring out what's happening with Disable touch while typing with syndaemon, I tried running it manually syndaemon -i 3 -k -t -R and it started working much better! So, I looked at what the default command was for syndaemon from a fresh boot, and found it to be syndaemon -i 0.5 -K -R. That specified disable duration to be 0.5 sec, which is waaay too small. MacBook pro has this little disadvantage of having a huge trackpad, which means part of it on the right-side is partly touching the palm most of the time when touching - and any relaxation during typing will often trigger touch-clicks. syndaemon's 2 sec default seems to be better tuned, *but* apparently this value was overridden with a hardcoded (nice!) value of 0.5 in gnome-settings-daemon, which launches this daemon. Hence, I can't change it just like that. However, it looks like g-s-d realized the mistake and was changed to 2.0 sec (still hardcoded, it would be much better to have it set as a dconf key): http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-settings- daemon/tree/plugins/mouse/gsd-mouse-manager.c#n528 The patch was done in 2010 http://git.gnome.org/browse/gnome-settings- daemon/commit/plugins/mouse/gsd-mouse- manager.c?id=3de30a7a14db5c3cdd88ead2e51a7f24cb071377; But the question is why is it still 0.5 in my 12.10 presice installation. I have no idea and I am still trying to figure it out. The g-s-d version I have installed is 3.3.92, which seems to be fairly recent. Note, increasing the timeout to 2 sec isn't going to solve it completely, but will reduce the instances to much lower number and hopefully much less annoying. Will further comment once I figure out why it's stuck at 0.5 sec for me. If anyone running precise can do ps aux | grep syndaemon and let me know his value, I will be grateful. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/962958 Title: Touchpad in macbook pro gets clicked all the time randomly when typing To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/962958/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 801952] Re: problem with ATI Catalyst Control Center (Administrative Mode) launcher
Patch attached for Kubuntu. Could someone add code for Ubuntu? The problem is that in su_gnome(), amdxdg-su looks for gnomesu and xsu, but these don't exist. It looks simple enough to look for gksudo instead/as well. HOWEVER detectDE() inspects $GNOME_DESKTOP_SESSION_ID, the value of which is this-is- deprecated. Clearly a better fix would change detectDE() as well to use some other way of detecting if it's running under GNOME. ** Patch added: amdxdg-su.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/801952/+attachment/2959545/+files/amdxdg-su.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801952 Title: problem with ATI Catalyst Control Center (Administrative Mode) launcher To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/801952/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 940712] Re: Keyboard dead keys don't work after upgrading to Ubuntu 12.04 Precise
I'm having issues with the shift keys using a US keyboard layout. I can't, for example, use the right shift key to get a capital S, or a semicolon, but the left shift key works. Underscore and plus sign don't work at all, no matter if I try the left or right shift key, and the same goes for the precent sign and the power sign (shift-5 and shift-6). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 968169] [NEW] Xorg segmentatoin fault and logs me out
Public bug reported: This happens several times a day, and is very annoying. Basically I was working in Ubuntu 11.10 64bit on my Thinkpad X220 laptop, and everything looks normal, but all of a sudden, I was shown a black screen (with some white text) and I was logged out. I have to enter my password to log in again, and all my work in the previous login was gone. It seems to be due to segmentation fault in Xorg. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 968166] [NEW] Problems with xserver-xorg-video-omapfb Ubuntu 12.04
Public bug reported: A couple of things First one unlike previous releases when you install omapfb (or omap3) Xorg doesn't try to use the driver over the original FBDev. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 577340] Re: [RC410] Xpress 200M hangs when resuming from suspend with DRI, with or without KMS
I still can't resume after suspending using Ubuntu 12.04 beta-1 with updates installed. But my computer doesn't (always) freeze on resume. Yesterday, I could see the login screen flashing by repeatedly with noise in between (couldn't log in of course). On a second attempt, numbers kept scrolling by at high speed, one of the system logs I assume. No disk activity the second time. The first time, the login screen pauzed and disk activity ceased briefly if I pressed Ctrl-Alt-F1 to Ctrl-Alt-F7 (could have been coincidence though, the screen pauze didn't always work). I'm a bit nervous about a forced shutdown while there's a lot of disk activity.
